That Maz 537's V12 is straight from a tank. Talk about awesome. As for the angle between the cylinder banks, 60-degree is the most used, I think. But there are many 90-degree ones (normally derived from V8's) and currently Ferrari and McLaren went with a 120-degree design to lower the center of gravity.

oh yeah, there have been a few wide bank v12s :) but 60 degree is (as you said) the overwhelmingly most common

Detroit diesel made v12 trucks in the US back in the day and it's a 2 stroke so it sounds incredibly angry and it was supercharged. They also made v6,v8, and v16 versions

i think if you did that pull test with 2 rear axles it would have had a better result for both cars. would distribute the wait a bit better along with i think less bounce with more suspension and 8 driven tires

You should probably have been using the dual rear axle variant for hauling such a heavy trailer. Not that I think it would have made a performance difference, but you did mention that it felt like it might have been wheel spinning a little with the V12. Also I'd totally love to see someone make that engine in engine sim so we can get some real good engine sounds.

@@fexploder3281 I didn’t think they made a 20 because none of their blocks could easily attach to make that, considering the lack of a v10. And yes, I forgot to add the 3-71 and other 3 cylinders they’ve made

@@fillman86 Well, Detroit Diesel actually still builds new 2-stroke engines for the military according to some websites but nowadays 2-stroke engines are mostly a thing of the past in terms of truck engine use for example I think since they've been discontinued in use commercially due to emission laws getting harder. However, a couple of 2-stroke diesel engines still produced today apart from the Detroit Diesel 2-strokes for military use I think are the EMD 710 and Wartsila RT Flex96c.

V12 diesels were actually pretty common in trucks back in the day (the tatra V12, the bigger mercedes truck engines, the 2 stroke detroits that went from 6 to 16 cylinders, ect), but advancements in fuel delivery and turbocharging mean that a semi-modern I6 turbodiesel is more than enough for most tasks, while being much more powerfull than the much bigger and thurstier N/A V12 diesels from old trucks, and significantly more efficient as well. V12 diesels do still exist, but they`re moreso used for industrial and marine applications nowadays (things like tugboats and other vessels, diesel electric locomotives, generators, and the really big construction and mining machinery).❤

make the perfect race car with any engine (your choice) it has to atleast reach above 150 or 160mph. it can be any type of induction like supercharger, NA or turbo. The car can be anything (yes even the bus)

Something you should think avout. A company in yhe US called detroit diesel created a 2 stroke diesel as a v16!!. Thats like a 32 cylinder 4 stroke!!! Also perhaps another engine you would be interested in. The company genreal motora made a 702 cui v12 gas engine for boat motors and large trucks. Or ford made a 540+ cui gas v8 for firetrucks. And international harbester had some 600+ cui gass v8s for their large trucks as well.

the older trucks usually had a full time locker or a gnumatic axle lock switch with a tandem axle above 20 ton in the US but i am curious as for over there and truck setups from Scania to Volvo.

I'm not sure about diffs in trucks tbh, but it seems like it'd be a waste to have a locker in a truck unless you're going up very steep hills often

Trucks 4th gear is similar to 1st in most light cars. And I believe every 4th gear is like that So 1st = 4th 2nd = 8th 3rd = 12th It may be a bit different in American trucks, but it's like that on European. All the close gears in-between are required for hauling weight and not losing power.

for these tests you also can use "scaletorque" just modfy the files of the engine and put scaletorque in it.

The detroit diesel v12 was not only incredibly powerful, but also easily modified for performance. Unfortunately people only use it for tractor pulls and dirt drags. Let me be clear, an alumi-block billet version would be a capable race car motor.

Detroit Diesel Also made a v12 motor out of 2 v6 2 stroke motors. Typically used in generator applications and other industrial stuff. Though people have adapted them to vehicles before. They sound nuts

Detroit Diesel made the 12V-71, and 12V-92, which the dash-numbers related to the displacement...of one Cylinder in cubic inches (they did this with EMD Locomotive diesels too.) so...y'know, you can figure out how big the engine is through multiplication. and they were two strokes. and used in highway applications. ...By the way, the EMD models were the 567, 645, and 710. So...y'know, You can figure out how big a Detroit you'd need to match _one_ cylinder of a two-stroke locomotive engine...

the GM Detroit Diesel division made a V12, in all three configs of Cubic Inch displacements, i think. i know abt the 12v53 and 12v71 (53 and 71 is the cubic inches per cylinder) and they both sound mean.

@@fillman86 Basically when the Audi R8 was still a V8 (petrol), audi decided to make a V12 diesel engine and put it in the R8 making it the fastest diesel car and probably only diesel supercar. Long story short they concluded that the cost of re-engineering the petrol R8 was simply too great and that they would be unable to recoup the investment through sales alone and halted the project. They put it in the Audi Q7 instead

russian tanks tend to use diesel v-12's quite liberally, other than the t-80 series and the god awful t-14 armata which uses an H pattern engine.

hey man can you please help me i have this where in game when i delete mods from my folder like patreon mods in game the preview for the vehicle is there (isnt supposed to be there) and just says no preview and when i spawn the vehicles it just glitches and sends me flying and idk why i have this on many vehicles and one thing when i spawn the t-series it is missing so much textures and it doesnt work right and i checked all my mods and there wasnt anything and got into safe mode, cleared cache and verified integrity of the beamng drive's files and its still the same. So if you know how i can fix this please let me know beceause i know you're a smart guy.

clear your cache at the higher level, because it's files in folders like this - \AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.28\vehicles

@@fillman86 they looked ok, the tubing on turbos was all wrong, you had charge pipes going to the exhaust tans exhaust going into intake if I remember correctly. Like I said, I love what you do, it was just things like oil filter on sideways, putting things on the front of motor that it didn’t need, not going to air filters and not hooked up to exhaust stacks.

@@Badgermatt-nc5nr lol that's not what's happening at all. There's only 1 pipe going from the exhaust side to the intake, but I'm guessing that's meant to be some kind of heat exchanger for cold idle (common in volvos). the pipes are a bit of a mess to look at otherwise, but they're all correct :)
