@@chilltowntomboi Try cotton buds/Q-tips soaked in vinegar. Apply to the acid mess, WEARING RUBBER GLOVES. The acid will fizz up and liquify. Let it run out, then wipe clean with paper towels. Hopefully contacts will work again. Best of luck.

The Nikon Coolpix P100 is probably the best camera under $100. You can find it usually around $80 on Amazon and eBay with the accessories. It records 1080p/30fps and 720/60fps, along with a 26x optical zoom. It even has slow motion for 480p and 360p, but it's kinda fun to play around with. Even though it has low bitrate and was made 12 years ago, I definitely recommend it, best starter camera.

When I started looking into film cameras. I remembered my dad had one back in the day. wondering if he still had it somewhere around the house, I asked him. I got his with this response: “ that’s the camera your brother took a power drill to trying to open it and fucked it up.” I have a distant memory of watching that happen about 15 years ago smh 🤦🏽‍♂️ it was a Minolta X700

After a lot of research I was convinced in buying the Canon A-1. As I got to the store, they had both the Canon A1 and Minolta x700 available for about the same price (both were over €100). I actually walked out of there with the Minolta. It's SO important to have a feel of the camera before buying it, the Canon was simply to heavy for me to lift with one hand comfortably and didn't have a nice grip, while the Minolta was basically a dream. Have had it for about 6 months and love that camera to deathh

My mom used to shoot a Minolta X700 when she was younger. Naturally, when I started into film photography last year, that’s naturally the first camera I gravitated towards spending actual money on. Only 1 roll in, but not disappointed at all 🥰 there’s something about the cameras and the lenses that just function so beautifully. And isn’t that part of the whole experience? 💜 Long time fan 😊 Keep up the great work. Looking forward to part 2!

I use the Yashica auto focus motor point and shoot. Less than $50 with a sharp lens. The Canon line of lenses for your picks is outstanding. Easy to grow your collection with superb glass. I think a 50mm is the perfect starter lens to go with it. I shoot Pentax SLR. The ME super is a full auto camera and has the great selection of Pentax lense universe to grow with. Great job on an excellent video.

Some great cameras in this video. Also, Soviet cameras such as the Fed 2 rangefinder or Zenit E SLR, as well as East German cameras such as the Praktica MTL, LTL, or L are great cameras for beginners at affordable prices. Of course, the build quality is not the best, but they are reliable when taken care of, produce great pictures, and are overall wonderful cameras that can sometimes be more interesting than others. There are some idiosyncrasies you need to learn about before using them though.

My first camera I ever got was the Zenit 12XP, this is such a simple SLR camera that comes with a really high quality lens made by Helios. It’s also built like a brick making it drop proof, it’s nicknamed ‘the Russian tank.’ If you’re looking for a simple and quite cheap point and shoot camera, then you should definitely check out the Pentax Espio range. These cameras r currently overlooked but they pack so many great features and have quite sharp lenses on them. I personally own the Pentax Espio 80 and I got it for $40AUD, which is just crazy. Btw, nice video

You can go full auto mode (if you are looking for an upgrade from a disposable but don't want to deal with adjusting ANYTHING), and it is also waterproof. I got a great find today for under $100. For $70 CAD ($50 USD) I bought my first Pentax, a mint condition Asahi Pentax SV black body with a 55mm f1.8 lens, the original metal lens cap, the Pentax SV light meter, the original leather 2-pc cover, a 2x converter, 3 close-up filters, original metal lens hood, the manuals, & a bunch of filters. The seller also threw in a Canon AF35M & a Polaroid One-Step Closeup. The Pentax was purchased branding new by the seller, used for less than 6 rolls of film and then it was stored in the camera bag for the last 50+ years. I can't wait to put my first roll of film through it. I also picked up a near mint condition Canon A1 with a Canon 50mm f1.8, a Vivitar 28 f2.8, & a Vivitar 80-200mm f4 a couple of months ago for $100 CAD ($70 USD).

If your whole thing with this video is promoting inexpensive ways to get into film photography, and you want to recommend a great beginner lens for a Minolta SLR, why push people toward the 45mm f/2? It might be a very good lens but it costs anywhere from $40-50 on Ebay. A less expensive option for beginners, but which still will work very well is something like the Rokkor 50mm f/1.7 for $25-35 on Ebay or even the 50mm f/2 which can be had for under $20. I personally had an XD-11 with 50mm f/2 and it worked amazingly well. Good, fast, contrasty lens but no hype whatsoever. Additionally, I know that you regularly visit thrift shops. And there are plenty of very fine options for point and shoot cameras available from thrift shops for way, way less money than you are telling people to spend on a Canon AutoBoy or Nikon L35AF. Garage sales also are (or were, before COVID-19) a perfectly viable way to find great prices on cameras. There is no way either of these point and shoots is worth $50-100. I personally bought a Nikon L35AF from a thrift shop with case and original instruction book for $15. And I found cameras like that Minolta XD-11 at a garage sale for $2 with lens, an Olympus Stylus Zoom 80 at a garage sale for $1, and an Olympus Infinity Twin at Goodwill for $4. I do not agree with your recommendations and the price point you are encouraging people to peg these cameras at.

I actually have the Canon's consumer price list from 1986 : P Canon AE1 Program body - $350 Silver and $383 Black Canon A-1 body - $455 Canon F-1 body - $810

I have my Mom's A-1 from when she used it for her business in the late 1980s. So I got mine for free, with no lenses, but it is easy to find them with 50mm f/1.8 lens for under $100 on Ebay. I really like my A-1 and I use it almost exclusively in aperture priority mode. I have taken it with me on 2 trips, one to Ottawa and another to the Dominican Republic. It just shoots so nicely and the FD lenses are great bargains. I'm particularly impressed with my 50mm f/1.4 and 135mm f/2.5 FD lenses.

Interesting about the AE1, same thing happens with that and the Pentax K1000 here in the UK, imagine it must be a similar deal over there... word has got out it's a great beginner camera so prices have gone through the roof, while other, much better cameras by the same manufacturer are selling much cheaper. I not long ago paid less for my Nikon F and F2 then some K1000s and AE-1s are selling for on eBay!

What about the Nikon FG-20? Underrated camera for sure. I’m far from a pro. I just started with my first roll. I just read a lot of good things about that camera. If it wasn’t for the fact I inherited this camera from my dad who died in 2004 (yes I know, I should’ve began my film journey sooner) I would’ve gotten the Canon, as I’m more a Canon guy. But I like this FG-20 a lot so far!

Gonna tack on my 2 cents and recommend the AF35ML over the AF35M bc of that sweet 40mm f1.9. Got mine a few weeks ago for 50 bucks and put a couple rolls of HP5 through it and *chefs kiss* that lens is sweet

I would recommend Nikon last film camera F75, you get every features you want from a modern camera except it is a film camera. If you are using an auto camera like Olympus mju, why not choose an auto focus SLR? Why choose mechanical only SLR?

I recommend the Minolta X-500/X-570 over the X-700. It's cheaper and allows you to view the aperture setting in the viewfinder (X-700 doesn't have this feature). It may not have Program mode but this isn't really something you will need when you get better at photography and it actually allows a better compatibility with legacy lenses since you don't have to worry about the Program mode.

these video basically speaks to me. I have the Canon AE1 program as my first camera and been wanting the A1 but it is so pricey, I've also been seeing the MInolta x700 all over facebook marketplace in my area and tempted to buy 1. I bought the Olympus epic zoom when I saw it in Sacramento FB Marketplace and had my friend there connect with the seller and he shipped it to me. I''ve always been curious with those boxey Konika and Canon's. Gosh, it basically says I am such a nube and a beginner since these are all the cameras that I want at the moment. haha!
