Aaron Rodgers last year with the Packers he was playing with a broken thumb and his best receiver was Allen Lazard who was a healthy scratch for the NY Jets this year...

He didn't have a broken thumb. He had Watson and Doubs, who are both good WRs. He lost a home game to the Lions and was absolutely terrible all year. He skipped minicamps and the preseason knowing he had rookie receivers. He's a complete clown, and he's just not good anymore.

@@JV-mw7gv You think it was delusional to think he would play 65% of total snaps? That was the stipulation for the pick. Look at how often he played every year, even through some injuries. It's not delusional to think he was going to. It's delusional to claim anyone knew an injury like that would occur, especially in the opening game for the Jets. In 2013 and 2017 were the only years he was under 65% snap count due to injury. The data only goes back to 2012 on the website. 2021 was his lowest where minor/no injuries took place, just COVID. Rodgers had an 88% snap count that year. So regardless, him playing 65% of his snaps that year isn't delusional if we look at the previous stats.

That’s a total “cope” answer. If I were in your shoes I’d have buyers remorse too though to be honest. I feel your pain but I have no sympathy because he has been this way for a while now and last year Jets fans called we Green Bay fans spoiled and toxic. Rodgers won’t win another ring and it will be 100 percent his fault. He’s physically gifted there’s no question but his leadership has always been a question… yes always. He’s a textbook narcissist, he’ll call out everyone else for the things they’re doing or not doing and then take no accountability himself. So if the Jets start out 2-4 he’s going to be in front of a camera talking about how the guys aren’t on the same page. He doesn’t recognize that even if he doesn’t need the reps the team needs reps with him. So even if he’s good it won’t be enough.

@@sputnikalgrimyou aren’t giving the full context of the jets trading him and why things played out the way they have, you’re just hating on the man before we’ve seen him even play for the jets. Jets fans don’t have buyers remorse at all because they’ve messed up every time they drafted a young QB, so jets fans probably feel a lot better about having a veteran QB because they built a good team they just need stable play from the QB position, which they’re assuming rodgers can do even if he’s lost some athleticism and ability to extend the play. Even purely as a pocket passer Rodgers is way better than anything they’ve had. The jets have also only really had success with Veteran QB’s anyways, besides Sanchez’s first two years, so that also probably feels better to jets fans. But please don’t talk about any of the details or the nuance of the situation, just bash Rodgers because you disagree with him politically, because we all know that’s what this is.

I remember when Dan Marino tore his Achilles tendon on a non-contact play. I believe it was on grass for you Field-Turf “haters.” But after he returned he wasn’t the same. He just couldn’t push off with his back foot on throws like he used to and he probably should’ve retired. But an Achilles tear, especially a full tear, is a very bad injury. I would guess that, even if it heals, it’s never as strong as it once was. (If you go back in time and watch videos of Marino, when he was in his 20s, a lot of power on his throws came from his legs. He had excellent footwork and he made a great weight transfer to his front foot on throws with beautiful timing that really complimented his incredible release. As time went on he had to rely more on just his arm and tended to throw more flat-footed and that’s a bad way to live for an NFL quarterback.)

I’ll take a declining Rodgers over ANY Jet QB I’ve seen in my 25 years of life. With our defense, special teams, and then guys like Breece, Wilson, Williams, and Conklin on offense, we have a playoff basement with even average play from Rodgers, and AFC Championship/Super Bowl if we get above average to great. Just gotta pray for his/our O-line’s health.

@@joemac999 I agree that signing the bums last year was awful, but all but Lazard are gone. As for Rodgers, he’s completely off the books after 2026. He’s taking up $23.5 mil next year and $63 mil in 2026, when we’ll have $164.563 mil in free cap, and that’s assuming the ceiling wont raise by then (which it very likely will). We haven’t set our franchise back for shit, you’re just talking completely out of your ass

@@serendipitousslim1529 It's 51 mil in 2025 and 35 mil in 2026. Cap hits of 14 mil and 7 mil in 2027 and 2028. Problem is that you have a LOT of guys to sign, including a QB to replace Rodgers - which I'm sure you know the Jets have had issues finding. I guess you make a move like this to win a SB, but that's really unlikely to happen. Rodgers is maybe a top 10 QB at best at this point, so I doubt they win anything.

It's worth noting that his 2022 season was riddled with injuries (I think he had a broken thumb and ribs?). So assuming he's healthy (big assumption since he's 40 and coming off one of the worst injuries an athlete can suffer) there's a very real possibility he plays somewhere near his 2020-2021 level. But the flip side of this is do we take those injuries as flukes dragging down his play, or is he becoming injury prone as he ages? The guy's one of the biggest question marks in the league right now. Not a big fan of his off the field antics, but I've always liked watching him play. Hope it works out for him next year.
