LOL RIGHT?? Also their throat doesn't connect to their blowhole. Their respiratory system and digestive system are wholly separate from one another, otherwise they'd be at risk of drowning every time they opened their mouths. So no, Dory and Marlin would not have been "blown out", they'd just be eaten.

It’s also may be worth mentioning that female clownfish attack male clownfish to keep them stressed out which prevents them from becoming female. So not only would Marlin have been emasculated by Coral not being around to get him to “man up” but she was physically abusive towards him!

Fun fact: Baracuda do not eat clownfish, but clownfish are cannibals and eat their own eggs. So some other theories I have heard have said that Coral ate the eggs, and Marlin made Nemo up in his head to cope. "Nemo" in Latin actually translates to "no one" or "nobody", meaning the title of the film could be finding no one.

I think it sounds solid in theory but I can see Disney taking this the wrong way. Clownfish literally biologically do this yet I can see Disney taking this whole changing genders thing in a very controversial way. I think another female coming into Marlin and Nemo's life is way more probable anyways.

The only way i can see a third one being possible without going super creepy is to have Nemo go off to start his own colony or have Marlin find new girl/boyfriend to start a new colony. It would certainly be more a soul searching story then an action based one with Marlin trying to adjust to the changes in his body. Not to mention his friends and family trying to understand (and hopefully) support him. I can see Dory going like, 'Boy or girl, you are still you.'

Fun fact: clown fish will often try and scare bigger creatures away if you get close to their anemones, particularly after they’ve laid their eggs. They like zoom at you and sometimes they even boop your mask. They do that to me all the time as a scuba diver and it’s super duper cute.

My only issue here is, Marlin was never shown as a dominant fish until after he meets Dory. We don’t know all the fish who lived nearby as well (they moved right after Coral died). I get this is an aspect with this species only, but they also have aspects like manta ray’s leading “schools” of fish of multiple different species

Um so the director of Finding Nemo wanted things to be mostly biologically accurate but then Finding Dory is like “yeah fish can just jump into whatever body of water they want. To support the theory: Marlin through the first movie is constantly getting away from home and getting used to the idea of leaving the anemone, just like a female clown fish who doesn't stay at home and protects the colony. He is slowly turning into the dominant female right in front of our eyes and its shown in his character arc.

What if Coral is still alive? We never actually see her die and although was in a deleted scene, isn’t proven canon (based on my knowledge). Also...Marlin was like 3 inches away from the barracudas teeth and he survived. Maybe Coral was pushed into a small crack in the coral reef where the barracuda can’t reach her. Maybe she was knocked out while Marlin was looking for her. Maybe she left Marlin because she thought he was dead when he was unconscious but with the rumors of a clown fish traveling the entire ocean (from the first movie) gave her hope that he is alive and that she was able to save one of her children. I don’t know how possible this could be but I really like it. I don’t know. But I would like another movie like that. Much more pg than Marlin mating with Nemo. By a lot.

Disney will most likely bring back the dead mom or find another female clownfish for finding nemo 3. But what would happen if a new female clownfish is introduced to a school of males where the dominant male is changing? Does the dominant male stop/change back or does the change continue so that there are two female clownfish?

Biology Student here and we covered this topic in our ecology classes. As far as I know, their would be a fight for dominance as there is between the males (there is always a certain size difference between males within a school and if a male of a similar size as another clownfish of this school tries to join that school, there will be a fight for dominance). But as females are more outgoing than males, they are much more likely to die than to lose their original school.

Unfortunately, it's also true that the dominant male clownfish also typically EATS any damaged or unfertilized eggs. So, Marlin probably would of ate Nemo.

I was hoping you would talk about how barracudas don't eat clownfish and how clownfish cannibalize their own eggs. Nemo in Latin means nobody so coral ate all the eggs and disappeared leaving marlin and his emotional trauma and to cope with it he tried to find an imaginary fish that miraculously survived. But instead I got dad son reproduction for the next film. Thanks

I have heard before that Nemo is dead in real. Nemo means no one. Marlin cannot cope with the death of his son and searches for him throughout the ocean. During the voyage he seems to go through the stages of mourning to let go of his son.
