It makes sense (from an international peacekeeping/Geneva Convention perspective) that the blast radius and power would be reduced in exchange for the radiation lasting longer. Perhaps, the Fallout nukes were intended to interfere with enemy supply lines (by poisoning the area with deadly radiation, thus, increasing the amount of time it took for supplies to travel to and from their intended destinations) and were never meant to be dropped on civilian populations?

I'd like to point out that fallout takes time to drop to the earth, it's not like the area around the blast zone immediately becomes irradiated. The Ghoul would definitely have time to seek shelter, even if the higher yield bombs were dropped closer and caused more major damage to his surroundings he'd at least be capable of moving.

Here's something I found odd: there were no planes when the bombs dropped. Okay, I'm no expert so I'll gladly be proven wrong. Maybe the planes were above the clouds? But it still kinda looked like the bombs were already in place on the ground, and not actually dropped. This would make sense considering it was all a huge conspiracy - the corporations planted the bombs ahead of time and then just detonated them.

i miss matpat Theory time: You are right those bombs were smaller and they did lie or mislead us, but its included in the lore already. Vault Tec dropped the bombs , and of course their original plan is the invading other planets and they need to experiment on humanity. So im assuming vault tec and all the other companies sold the idea of nuclear fallout, its a product remember so ofcourse they will lie and say nuclear fallout will do this and that and this to scare people and make them buy and also obey because of fear of the fallout. it fits perfectly with the lore.

Moira from megaton survives if you detonate the nuke at the centre of megaton and becomes a ghoul . She was at ground zero and survived .

i'm pretty sure alot of modern nukes (though generally tactical nukes) are within the 200 to 750kt range because you generally don't need over a megaton to destory a military target unless it's a missile silo.

I like how in the intro he keeps freaking out about '...Where's Mat?' And Matpat is literally missing in this episode.
