Matt pat ftw! I like Disney's and their sub studio's movies for the most part, but I think the house of mouse as a company is one of the most crooked and shady companies out there. Matt pat on the other hand has great content and he and his company aren't evil. In fact, I've seen him do a lot of charity stuff as well as many other projects that have a positive effect on the world as a whole.

According to the Disney Princesses fandom, these are the (unofficial) rules to be a Disney princess: 1. Must play a lead role in either a Disney or Pixar movie 2. Must be human or look like a human 3. Must be royal by birth, married into royalty or have performed a heroic act 4. Must have great appeal to audiences

Weirdly enough, in the present today, of the 3 included to the princess list, only Moana was actually coronated as an official Disney princess, so now they’re 12. I don’t really know what happened with Anna and Elsa.

Anna and Elsa aren't official Disney Princesses because Frozen is too successful that it was unnecessary for them to be part of the group. But even if that's the case, Frozen is considered a "sister" brand to the Disney Princess line, that's why Disney is doing their best to include them in other events and promotional stuff despite not being official members (RBTI and the Ultimate Princess Celebration). And to be fair, if Frozen didn't earn a billion at the box office, they would've become offical members. 🤷

According to the wiki, those who succeed as a queen in their movie aren't part of the Disney princess line up, elsa was queen in frozen and Anna was queen in frozen 2

@@bisheen The Wiki is not always accurate though because it is subject to potential incorrect information being put in. I don't believe I have ever seen an official statement from Disney saying that once a Disney Princess becomes a queen she is booted out. Anna and Elsa both started out as princesses, and even though Frozen's huge success keeps them from being in the official lineup, I feel they should be included if and when Disney chooses to do so. An interesting thought involves the recent live action Cinderella. Didn't the king die in that one, meaning the prince is the new king? That would mean Cinderella would become queen. I know this only happens in the live action film, but I really doubt Cinderella is going to be removed from the princess lineup.

I dunno, in Hercules (NOT Heracles... they didn't use the historically accurate spelling) Meg had an entire song and acted as the damsel in distress. She was a very important character to the plot, not a side character.

I like that in Moana she needs Maui but Maui needs her too. They dont work in the adventure solo, they fail if they arent a team. Imo, the right message. Jane from Tarzan was supposed to be a Disney Princess. She even appeared in a magazine stating her as such. Disney pulled her from the status since she looks too much like Belle with the yellow dress, brown hair, etc. Alice was also supposed to be one too. She's even a Princess of Heart in the Kingdom Hearts series.

I've got four words for ya: Disney Character Voices International Disney has a branch company dedicated to finding a "close enough" voice for their characters in ANY language in case ANYTHING happens that would make the original voice actor unable to perform (They also act as consistency checkers making sure when one movie quotes another they do it right, but that's a whole other can of worms)

There is another factor that MatPat had not discussed. Every one of the princesses in the room are the main characters of their movies. Meg is not the main character because that role falls to Hercules. In the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Esmeralda is not the main character, but rather Quasimoto is. With the Black Cauldron, Taran is the main protagonist and Princess Eilonwy is a deuteragonist. So maybe, to be a Disney princess in this room, you may also have to be the main character in your own respective Disney movie.

That would be some really cool research actually. Both the films and the books were made a ways back, and psychology has changed pretty rapidly and majorly in the last couple decades. Not only Disney princess, other types like heroes or animal are also treat them for what they earn. So that’s why is important to boost the popularity for the Disney movie you love on the social media, to help them stay on the line. Once they are below the line, they are pretty much gone.

Lilo, Riley, and Vanellope will never be Disney Princesses because they are children and therfore can not have actors to play them at Disney World and Disney Land due to child labor laws. Alice is played as a character around The Disney resorts but will never be a princess because of how little she made at the box office. Also she was not born royal, married royal, or completed an act of heroism. She doesn't qualify. Leia will never be a Disney Princess because she is not animated and having her being played at a Disney resort would be impossible. Kids would know its not Carrie Fisher and would "break the magic". Technically Meg DOES fit all qualifications to be a Disney Princess with one problem. Hercules was made as a movie geared towards boys, not girls, and removes her from the list. Tinkerbell, like Lilo and Vanellope, is a small fairy and there isn't a way to have a small fairy flying around with out "breaking the magic". As for Elsa, Anna, and Moana. They are too popular. They make so much money as stand alone characters that the company would loose money lumping them in with the other Princesses. When their popularity FINALLY starts to die down they will be crowned and the hype over them will kick back up again.

I just want the Tarzan the animated movie (aka Jane as well) to be mentioned once when people compare Disney related movies. Worldwide it made: $448,191,819 Edit: Yes I know that Jane wasn't the lead, just like Meg wasn't in Hercules, as well as that Disney did not renew its license with Edgar Rice etc. I just still want a Tarzan/Jane mention once in awhile :)
