FulcrumFutboler it was acknowledged as canon before Disney took over, being mentioned in a few canon books and games. In the Disney universe it is not acknowledged as canon but it is very hard to tell what is and isn’t canon in Disney universe because technically they said they would only acknowledge the original trilogy. Yet now they acknowledge Asoka and a lot of other old canon aswell. Star Wars canon at this point seems to just be bits and pieces of stuff Disney wants to make movies and shows out of, so honestly I just acknowledge old canon until Disney comes up with something better.

George was heavily involved in The Clone Wars TV series so it's officially cannon. & in my opinion I think anything that takes place before the sequels & doesn't directly contradict the main cannon is fair game, which is why I think KOTOR & Old Republic can still be counted as cannon. They take so far into the univers's past that it wouldn't have any feasible effect in the main story lines anyways. At least it's valid in my headcannon

There's a lot that Disney is just steamrollering over because they don't want to take the time to read through all the legends material. For example Luke Visited the home planet of yoda's species by accident. They use the force to hide from the dark side and guide specific people to them, in that book they live for around 300+ years. They are inherently gifted with the light side which is why they live for so long. They also outright ignored Yoda's own backstory where as a 20 something pilot he left his home with a human friend and got stranded on a planet with Jedi Master N'Kata Del Gormo who spent a decade training them before taking them to coruscant for more training. Yoda became a jedi master at 96 years old before training his own padawan because he didn't feel emotionally prepared for the role of teacher instead opting for diplomatic missions.

That's the problem I have with the new trilogy and the spin offs. I mean the spinoffs are okay (ish, they messed up Solo) , but they're overlooking a TON of lore, and I'd be more interested in watching a movie based on the lore than some cash grab like the sequels have been.

@@sebastianthegoat4265 That's my issue too, sure Lucas has notoriously bad dialogue but the rest of his plot writing is pretty solid. I particularly dislike when people praise the new stuff just because it's "pretty". Yes visuals are important but not more so than story. Take the dark empire series, a lot of people hate on it but it kept me reading till the end. Luke was literally forced into his fathers perspective because of the massive gap between himself and Sidious. But after his ordeal he devoted himself more fully to the light than he ever had before, and walked away stronger and wiser. And some examples for those who claim it would be boring to watch a movie too similar to the book. Harry potter, and LOTR, Both of them I read the series before watching the movies. The movies left out a ton of stuff but having read the source I wasn't confused about the cuts. As I understood the limits of film production and run time. Sure when you go off the book some people might get spoilers but a spoiler will never be able to go as in depth as the source itself. Going back to dark empire people told me not to read it because Luke wins in the end therefore it was boring. Reading it myself there were times when it seemed like Luke was giving up on resisting the dark side and he struggled with retaining his identity. This gives the general idea of a spoiler without fully explaining how much of a sociopath papa palpatine was in the series.

@@aeviwright7846 there's another Star Wars series where Luke legit tries to start a new Jedi order and DIES because of a force of the Dark Side, and is brought back to life by his students! there's also a series where the Jedi and the Light side are almost defeated by a guy called General THrawn that was always a step ahead of the opponents and was taken down by someone he trusted. it's also canon that Leia has a pair of twins (Jaice and Jaden if I'm not mistaken) and another son named Anakin, then a final son named Ben. (Disney definitely ignored that part of the lore) there's SO MUCH lore that is not boring at all in the expanded universe of Star Wars that basically is being rejected because the trilogy is basically just a spinoff of what we know and love. oh I LOVE LOTR. I'm SO glad they stuck really close to the book and made everything so epic. the soundtrack, the visual, the STORY, heck the Battle of Helm's Deep is the one epic battle that ALL epic battles are now compared to! That's why I didn't like the Hobbit movies when they came out. Sure, Smaug was AMAZING, and Benedict Cumberbatch was a really great choice for the dragon, but they deviated too far from the subplots, and the fact that Azog was alive TICKED ME OFF because he was definitely dead in the book. this is why I love the family show Ninjago: Masters of SPinjitzu and absolutely despise My Little Pony, whatever version it is. Ninjago is chock full of amazing lore based off of Asian myths and culture, and most importantly CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. two of the most annoying characters in Ninjago become rather tolerable in two or so seasons and actually funny, and while the villains can be a bit cliché, the Ninja grow. their characters are not stagnant. compare that to the ponies from MLP. they're all stagnant (at least that's how I felt when I tried to get myself into it). they don't develop character. they remain the annoying brats they are, especially Pinkie Pie. and yeah, there's lore, but it's cliché too. and every villain is magically fixed by friendship. that's not how the real world works. back to the Star Wars lore, there is SO much that develops the characters so well! and then there's episodes 7 and 8, where I've heard a lot of fans and commenters say that they're basically just a repeat of 4 and 5, just different characters. it really makes me sad to see what Disney is doing to this giant expanded universe that is the books.

Samuel Strunk Yoda became a Master at the age of 100. If we go by 10 years for Yoda = 1 Human year, Yoda at 50 would be a 5 year old human. 100 year old Yoda is a 10 year old human. Yoda becoming a Master at 100 could be seen as a human child prodigy graduating with a University Masters Degree at 10 years old.

That is my theory as well. Given in legends canon the several millennia gap in appearances of the species in galactic history, I suspect the species evolved to be extremely illusive and secretive exactly to avoid the pitfalls that matpat talks about!

In legends (KOTOR ) we see others of Yoda's spieices aswell as in the sequels where we see yadel.

They could live far off within the unknown regions of the galaxy like the chiss and rarely venture into the wider galaxy
