Today we are visiting the local park to enjoy some insect life at close range. In this fast-paced day and age, it's easy to miss the little things that are so beautiful and right next to us. I would like to introduce to you a powerful tool to help us scale down and observe a whole other world. I paid only $20 for the set of closeup filters that I am using in this video. Even though the idea buying such cheap filters is scoffed at by some, I truly believe that you can get some beautiful imagery on a low budget.
Camera: Sony a6300
Lens used with filters: Sony 55-210 kit

Thank you for the video it was very helpful to see these filters in action and the fact that they are the cheaper version really helped me to put things in perspective so hats off to you sir.

great video... I was in a situation where I never knew anything about macro photography. I got into it because I wanted to focus on nature/wildlife and landscape photography. Once I learned about macro I was deeply intrigued but didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on macro lenses. So, found out about these lens filters and for a mere $13 , I have to say I am extremely impressed. I do find some of my shots are "foggy" but as you say in your video, I think I am just getting greedy and wanting to get too close. I find it harder with insects for some reason. My macro shots of plants/flowers turn out fine but insects are tough, not sure why. I honestly do love these filters. Another option is getting a reverse mounting ring ( I also have one) and locking your aperture, detaching lens and reverse mounting but I only do that indoors. I am worried about doing it outdoors as so much dust, dirt, pollen etc and get into the lens and cause issues..

@NickSchrader 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That's pretty much how I got into it as well. I have been watching a lot of videos about those reverse mounts as well. I haven't looked into it, but maybe there is a type of filter/protector that attaches to the mounting end of the lens to keep the dirt out. I'm gonna have to look around online. Will post it here if I find anything. Thanks for watching!

@Nick Schrader, great video ! But one thing that might make it harder to focus when stacking the close up lenses is that I noticed you mentioned you added them with increasing numbers. Rather than +2 , then + 4, I think it's supposed to be done with the largest number first. At least that's what I've read. Currently awaiting my close up filter in the mail to find out for myself, but have you tried this, or know if it's true?

Hi, I got the same lens. My close-up filter size is 58mm so I am using a ring (49 to 58). Do you think this would introduce more shallower depth of field 🤔?

I've noticed on some KZfaq videos of bees; the bees are moving about in an unhealthy fashion and I've even seen some on flowers fall to the ground dead. Something in our environment is killing these bees ( particularly the honey bees ) Albert Einstein once said: “If the bee disappeared off the face of the Earth, man would only have four years left to live.”

I tried using macro lens close up sets on my Canon Rebel T3I. Why does every lens look blurry when I look through it. I mean nothing is clear.

Not sure what the main reason here is, but the close ups look very fuzzy. That can't be the detail loss of using the close up filters alone. Maybe the focus was not properly done or something?
@NickSchrader
@NickSchrader 3 жыл бұрын
Could have been that, Andreas. The ideal setup would be with a tripod (which I didn't use all that much in the vide samples) since the depth of field becomes so shallow. Thanks for watching!
@andreas7278
@andreas7278 3 жыл бұрын
@@NickSchrader Thanks for the reply. Yeah, tripod is obviously the safe way to go but I myself often also do it without. My comment was not meant as a complaint, I am just always curious about how others get their results and what created certain outcomes.

Actually I just realized I was thinking they were like a zoom lens... now I realize that it allows you to place the camera up closer than the regular lens. I’m looking forward to playing with them.
