@@dacsus kids say "objectively" when their ego is so high they somehow think their opinion has any more merit. It doesn't, so stop believing it. If you really think it's "objectively" better, than prove it. Except you can't, because entertainment is too subjective to definitively say whether one thing is better than another (to an extent). The word "objectively" is the new "literally". It doesn't give your opinion any more weight, sorry.

@@TheJayson8899 By objectivity I meant the obvious elements - such as the camera, the lighting and complexity of the scenes, the actors' performances, the consistency of the story, the dialogues, and the world itself, the quality of the script, the wittiness, the quality of the costumes, and so on and so forth. Any adult will notice this, a child might miss the differences, and the childishness of the SW story (and everything that contrasts with the Raiders) is absolutely fine with him.

I remember my mom taking me to see this in 1981, I was 15 and I wasn't really all that enthused about going to see it, as I hadn't heard about it and didn't know what it was about. But, boy after about the first 10 minutes I was hooked! It's still one of my favorites! My mom knew me pretty good. I miss her dearly.

Great memory! I also remember not being too excited as I walked in the theater that day in '81. Like you, I didn't know much about what we were soon to see and I just couldn't get past the fact that we were going to see a movie with 'Han Solo' in it that wasn't a Star Wars flick. I remember sitting down, actually wishing they would somehow mess up and just show Empire Strikes Back again instead. Once it got started though, I don't think it took even 10 minutes for me to figure out that this would be one of my favorite films of all time! Years later I got to realize a bit of a dream as I was lucky enough to be an extra in the last-shot scene of the most famous fan-film ever made: 'Raiders The Adaptation'. I was one of the German soldiers in the back of the truck that Marion shot from the gun-turret of the rotating airplane as well as a background soldier in a few other shots. You can see it here on YT by searching 'Raiders vs Adaptation'. It was surreal living out a childhood fantasy in real-life!

A few years ago I was taking a train from Schenectady to the city and when we stopped in Albany, a woman who'd just boarded asked if she could take the seat next to me. I immediately noticed how incredibly striking her smile was and a moment after she sat down I told her she looked familiar and could swear I knew her from somewhere. She said, "I'm an actress, my name's Karen Allen, nice to meet you." Being the same age as the kids in The Sandlot and having grown up a big Indiana Jones fan, I surprised myself and played it pretty cool. We made some small talk about going to the city, I complimented her on her work and gave some small details about growing up with her movies, she asked me about myself, and then we both went on our laptops. I'll never forget her stunning, rare smile that very well could be the most beautiful smile I'll ever see.

@@nathaniliescutotherescue6047 I'm convinced that some celebrities like Ford, DeNiro, and Tommy Lee Jones, are so chronically depressed from some kind of serious foundational trauma that they don't have a genuine connection to joy and require suspended mental states to experience it. Carrie Fisher said that Ford got fun after getting drunk, Jones has said that he has no sense of humor, and DeNiro has always been cagey and defensive. If you look at how each and every one of these people laugh, either in an outtake or in a film, you can almost see the effort they make in making it happen because it doesn't seem to come naturally to them.

Great actor working with amazing director, only thing bad i would say about Spielberg is the fact he ruined SeaQuest from quite a nice "Star Trek underwater" series with great cast and amazing theme of "there are always solutions other than war" into some chaos of battle scenes/aliens/ghosts or other unnatural entities as i think Spielberg is always jelous of Stanley Kubrick legend and Spielberg always wants to make the epic sci fi/war drama or unnatural entities movies that will make him more huge than Kubrick, he only achived that in war movies but for sci fi as huge as Space Odyseey 2001 or such spooky movie as Shinning Spielberg still have to look for :D

"Harrison Ford revealed that the scene was meant to be the ultimate duel between sword and whip but he was suffering from dysentery and found it really difficult to be out of his trailer for more than ten minutes at a time. Ford and Spielberg realized that the complex fight scene would take days to shoot, a timeframe that the ailing star was not feeling up to. Therefore, Ford suggested that his character should simply shoot his enemy, and director Steven Spielberg readily agreed to the idea. "

It would of never made any sense. How can a whip be used against a sword. One strike and the whip is fully extended and the guy with the sword could of just rushed him and stabbed him. Dumb idea. It's actually lucky they all got diahrrea and Ford couldn't do it rather than bad luck which is normally what diahrrea is lol.

The famous "Indy's Pistol vs the Big Sword" final chosen scene was Harrison Ford's idea. He didn't feel good and wanted to cut it short. Great choice! The Indy lashed to the periscope scene explained how he was able to stow away on the Nazi U-Boat.

@@swifty1969 The larger problem is that U-Boats of the era could only operate submerged for a few hours at a time, and traveled slowly while doing so. They weren't at war in 1936, so they probably would have traveled on the surface, except maybe for their approach to the base, assuming it was secret and they didn't want to let the Greeks or British know what they were doing.

Wait I thought the story was that Harrison got sick during the day they were filming the fight with the swordsman, so they changed the scene to have him draw his gun and shoot him. Here we see incomplete pieces of film for a proper fight between them. I thought they changed the scene before any filming began.

To all y’all interested (and too young to simply know this) the film is called Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was only on DVD rereleases (subsequent to the two sequels) that they added the “Indiana Jones and the…” part, as that was the titling format for those two films. But at the time of the release of the original, nobody would have heard of the character, and it wouldn’t have made any sense. And for some reason it bugs me when I see “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Just bugs me.

Dude, everyone here know the name of the movie. Plus, it's in the title of this video. (also in the movie) "But at the time of the release of the original, nobody would have heard of the character, and it wouldn’t have made any sense." - this is an absolutely logical thing, which does not need to be explained to anyone (who has common sense).
