Last year for my birthday my wife got us tickets to a special screening of this followed by a Q&A with Mel Brooks. Everyone laughed all the way through the movie like we’d never seen it before. Then Mel came out and talked. He said making this was the best movie making experience he had. It was supposed to be a Q&A but I think they only got through 2 questions because Mel would start answering a question and lead him to talk about Gene or Cloris or Madeline and it’d lead him to tell another story. He was great. He realized it took forever to answer the first question so he let the audience decide if we wanted him to stick to short answers and more questions or did we want him to talk about whatever he wanted? We were overwhelming in letting Mel talk about whatever he wanted and he talked for over an hour and a half. It was fantastic!
