Sorry we’ve been so busy with work projects so we haven’t had the chance to film a lot. If you didn’t see his last video, WE’RE GOING TO PTD VEGAS!! A sweet viewer who could not make it offered us her tickets 🥺 At this point of filming, we didn’t know for sure if we would get to go or not but I was hopeful and introduced him to the opening song 🥰 I have the PTD set list memorized at this point so I’ll try and have him listen to all the set list songs before we go!

Just like how I love hearing certain professional dancers react to the choreography because of the insight and knowledge on the tiniest movements, I love this guy's reactions on the cinematography and camera work for the same reasons! He gives me a new perspective on what I'm seeing in videos I've watched dozens of times already. I'd be very curious to hear what he has to say about their "2019 MMA 'Dionysus' Dance Practice" because of how complex the dancing is over the top of an all white background.

We are here for your pauses and reactions Jeff we don't mind them esp. when you are filling us in on the tech side of doing these. Loving these reactions 💜

Well, to be nit picky, they filmed Grand Central on Feb 8th, 2020 and it aired later that month. Most of us in the US still had no idea what was coming - even here in Washington state, which was the country's ground zero for outbreaks. Just want to mention it in case people watch the segments and get critical about no one wearing masks or social distancing. 🤷🏻♀️

I'm excited to see Jeff's reaction of the shooting sketch. The girl that you pointed out front and centre at the beginning is Sienna Lalau who choreographed this whole number (and others). She was 19 years old at the time. She is the one greeting them at the beginning of the shooting sketch to teach them the choreo. I will be at the show on the 9th as well...what section are your guys sitting in? Thanks for reacting. The dance practice is great too....the backup dancers really had the BTS members hyped up.

This was the video that hooked me. As someone mentions below, they also performed this in Grand Central Terminal for the Jimmy Fallon Show. They filmed at 2 AM , again with the Blue Devil Marching Band. They had two hours to film. Then the cleaning crew came in to clean the station for the next days business. Add the Fake Love MV to your list. I think you'll enjoy the camera work and special effects. There are so many talented people behind BTS and the group often thanks them when accepting awards.

This song ties back into one of their very early songs called "NO". You mentioned the fact that some members were wearing white in contrast to the dancers. Not many people realize that Jin's jacket is white in front but black in back. When he arrived on set after viewing first takes he decided he did not like his black jacket so he took it off, laid it flat on the concrete and used a can of white spray paint to turn it white but only in front.💜

BTS & Hybe are fantastic at using drones to record their MVs. You need to watch their dance practice with the U.S. dance crew, the girl in the beginning center was only 18 and was one of the choreographers for this video.
@carlykoehn9742 жыл бұрын
I know that we are in for an absolutely great time when Jeff is pausing before we even get going! The true and deep passion that comes through, dissecting and explaining each nuance and difference and how things might be done -- combined with getting HUGELY inspired by the way they go about their filming and producing - that is the ULTIMATE type of sincere appreciation. I love it so much. Plus, Jeff always manages to compliment every aspect of professionalism that goes into a production like this - and his true joy at seeing all of the producers and camera operators recognized by name and company, etc., in the notes - that made me SO happy! Nothing this epic ever gets done 100% by only the people we see in front of the cameras. I think the hardest work is done by those behind the cameras and after the recordings - fine tuning all of the things, combining it to become this masterpiece that requires all of the pieces to shine the way it does.

Watching Jeff fall down the BTS rabbit hole is fun in and of itself but listening to his explanations gives a whole new level of appreciation for the behind the scene work and how much had to come together to make epic music videos.

Jeff- BTS’s work has so much depth and complexity to it. I’d love to hear some of your informed thoughts on how you see the cinematography is used to highlight and play with the deeper concepts with their work. The whole map of the soul album is influenced by Jungian psychology and it would be interesting to explore, especially the songs Persona, Shadow, and Ego, how the camera work aids in portraying those concepts. Also- has Taylor told you about the BU (Bangtan Universe) - which is an alternate multidimensional/parallel time traveling story line told across music videos, video teasers, album liner notes, a WEBTOON, social media, concert video content, and a fake website (and subsequent compilations of the liner notes into 2 books along with 5 graphic lyric books)? There was also a movie in the works that got put on hold bc of the pandemic. And many of the videos are also based upon literary works to help tell the story. Then ask her about 7 Fates: Chakho.

BTS gives their staff props all the time, & they really do have AMAZING production/cinematography/styling/editing/set-up teams that help create these masterpieces. Love the technical teaching bits, & your obvious enjoyment! Every MV is a movie, every live show an engaging masterpiece. The band's work ethic (& ethics in general, really), sincerity, humbleness, realness...are a huge part of why the fan base is so dedicated. I don't think there has been or will be another BTS, or even close, they are truly legends. We are just luckily along for the ride! I'll be in LV 15/16! So excited, my coworkers & family are already tired of me talking about it! How can they be so huge, but have so many who don't even know them?! Once you do, you Jim-in to the purple cult & don't look back-life changing! Glad you're becoming "one of us", welcome!! Having your perspective, brings just an added depth of appreciation to this much loved video. Thanks so much. Something I have wondered about has to do with the lighting which I presume was created by the sun primarily. The length of their shadows needed to stay consistent which makes me wonder how long they had to shoot per day (assuming it was more than one day). Obviously, an important feature given the line in the song: "With each step then again grows the shadow." The choreographer/dancer is Sienna Lalau from Samoa. Have a wonderful time at the concert. aww was that a 'protecting artist' moment with JK & Cooky? Luv it!!! Another informative & interesting reaction - big thanks!!! Appreciated comments re: black & white colours. Interestingly we saw how they spray painted the front of Jin's jacket white to break up all the black, during the behind-the-scenes footage.

These are members from the UCLA marching band and drum corps. The entire band recorded the the music for this track.

This is actually one of my favourite songs and films ever and the dance break is immaculate 😍

Oh Jeff, you are getting sucked down that rabbit hole, there is no going back, lmao! Love watching you react to them and look forward to you reviewing the "shooting" MVs too.

Great reaction! I personally enjoy your reactions Jeff because you pause. I am not a filmmaker, so any tidbit you say is new information. I watch reactions specifically to learn new insight, as it gives me more appreciation for the hardwork that goes into creating something. Have a great time in Vegas! By the way, do you check out the lyrics to the songs you are reacting to? I think that also helps in understanding the songs.

I am excited for the concert more every day. One daughter is coming in from England next Sunday for the concert (we’ve only seen each other on WhatsApp since January 2020), both daughter’s and I will be flying to LV to enjoy the concert on Saturday after a day of viewing BTS Vegas. Older daughter and I will be in section 117. Had I realized how expensive this trip was going to be, I would have bought the $500.00+ seats. Lessened learned. If they come to Philly, NYC, Baltimore, or DC I will definitely upgrade if it is as good as I think it will be. Hope to see you in Las Vegas. Sunday and Monday are hiking and Tuesday we fly back.

There is a making of, or behind the scenes video for this, showing the cameras and drones, how hot it was that day or days, etc. Actually, then there is another one showing the UCLA drummers going to a studio to record some of it, as well as a gospel choir. This had to cost a fortune to put together. They also performed this "live" on the Jimmy Kimmel tonight show at Grand Central Station, NYC, NY.
