That slow zoom in shot of them under the table, taking turns holding up the table and supporting the other person... so good. I think Carmen and Syd are navigating that purgatory you feel when you meet your 'work wife/husband'. It's everything about a real relationship except the intimacy

I love that Richie is super-literate. And Siddhartha is the *perfect* book for him to relate to and quote! We read it in high school and I absolutely loved it.

Once again I love that they somehow got Robert Townsend to play Syd's dad. He has great chemistry with her and his energy just works so well with this show. Makes me happy.

Here we go! Loved what you said about how the windows being blown out is keeping them isolated. I'm gonna check in the next episode to see if the windows show the outside - to show that the outside world can now come in ✨

I thought they were going to do the cheesy romantic interest thing under the table and have a love triangle but im so glad they didn't go in that direction and kept them in a professional relationship as friends it works so much better for the scene

Sorry, I still see that as more romantic than anything with Claire. Romance without true and deep friendship is just shallow and boring.

I don’t think we can make that kind of final judgement from that scene, considering his panic attack earlier in the episode, that he calms down from it with the thoughts of Sydney, and the song that plays in that scene. It seems that they have it set up so that it could go in either direction in the future.

my fave callback is that “the michael” looks like the cannolis carmy was fixating on at the end of fishes. such an incredible detail

That's what Carmy was talking to him about in episode 8, he said he wanted to take back the cannolis via a dessert, and this is what Marcus came up with.

I did that omelette myself and it was amazing. That whisking and turning technique was stressing me out but it ended being real good. Little bit of boursin on it, roll that thing up and add a little dill chips on top 👌

James, an article from Slate (I think?) popped up in my news feed trashing season 3 of The Bear, and I didn't even read beyond the headline. It angered me. I know folks aren't going to like what I like, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but... Posting a hit piece for click bait just angers me. Thank you for showing this series from your point of view, that differs from mine. I get to see it all over again anew, and I get to see you, too. Every video you make sheers off a layer and reveals who you are a little bit. Not like a striptease LOL, but like a years long get-to-know-you session. You are a talented, handsome, funny, caring being. Thank you.

James!! I want to hear your thoughts about: you don't have to film hectic, to show hectic? I mean, it's not all done in the edit, and the actors gotta act, but you don't have to have frantic behavior on set to create hectic scene? As a director, how do you do this? A week of pre-viz in your mind? Storyboard the montage? How?

Season 3 is a GIGANTIC step down from 1/2. There's no direction whatsoever, the dialogue is exponentially worse, I absolutely loved seasons 1/2 but 3 was such a disappointment. Truly unfortunate.

@@htownallday281 Season 3 is beautiful, especially when it comes to that "human element" James always talks about. It doesn't have much of a plot, but instead focusses on the characters and their internal conflict and state of mind.
