Right??? The heart and spirit of TNG is in Lower Decks, and BNW literally oozes TOS energy. Not that Lower Decks doesn't also have some kick ass TOS energy. It's kind of a new golden age for Trek. I hope Paramount realizes they have content gold that they can have as a backlog, like the other live action classics.

Nope, its the same timeline. So say the show runners. Trying to make it not so is an act of futility and madness. You're free to not like it, but picking about canon is such a pointless thing. Nemoy himself said it was a silly notion. Because if you start doing that then none of it after the very first pilot is canon! Even TOS isn't internally consistent.

@@andromidius Well, the showrunners are full of shit on this one. Kurtzman has been using the old saw of, "Well, we can't keep track of everything," as an excuse to not even try, and even deliberately change things for no good reason. The guy's question about the Gorn is a perfect example. They screwed around with an established race that 1) they weren't even supposed to know about yet, 2) reduced a fairly advanced spacefaring race to a low rent ripoff of the xenomorphs from Alien, and 3) Lower Decks already showed the Gorn, in a matter far more consistent with their TOS appearance, and set up a conflict with another show for no better reason than, "Hey, Aliens was kewl, let's do that!" Nice dodge on Mike McMahan's part, but he shouldn't have been put in that position in the first place! It's an alternate timeline, just admit it, and then you bozos can do whatever the hell you want with the show. But stop trying to sell us something is a silk purse when the one-eared pig is giving you the stink eye.

We don't see it, but they force the actors to be vaccinated and get tested on a regular basis so they know their Covid status. I know because I've worked on several film sets. Can't say the same for the general public. They don't want to be responsible for creating a superspreader event.
