He is a bit realistic but I feel doesn't always think of the characters (sometimes )like how the penguins lived in New York and went literally sunbathing. We later find out in the penguins of Madagascar the movie that the penguins have been in New York for quite a while and could get some shade and survive using Kawasaki's big brain to not die of heat.

Fun fact : Madagascar used to be home to an extinct species of dwarf hippos!! These hippos evolved from African hippos that got stuck on Madagascar when it left Africa!! If those hippos could survive and adapt to a smaller island, then I think it's safe to say Gloria would definitely survive!!!

@@kong1626 well the likehood of alex being able to consistently find a sufaka lemur dead of old age is quite low. Especially one that hasn't been eaten by other predators (Granted he could fight them off, but by the time he shoo them away, the lemur would've been mostly eaten by then)

I find it that penguins of Madagascar is a criminally under rated series I grew up to it but I am a 2010 kid so nobody will ever take me seriously but still the show is amazing and watching it now gives me so much nostalgia

I recently started re-watching it and it still holds up. It's funny, it's cool, the characters are amazing (even if Julien is meaner than he is in the movies and All hail king Julien, but I still love him) and truly underrated.

I came up with a weird theory too. What if Marty is an omnivore? Omnivore is basically an animal that can eat both meat and plants, and if Marty was friends with Alex since childhood, he might have tried to eat steak and actually enjoy, but he prefers to keep it a secret, because he knows that it can shock people and other animals!

Great episode. However, I would have liked to see Matt Patt go more into the numbers regarding why fish wouldn't be enough for Alex to survive off of. Give Alex the treatment u gave Simba in the Film Theory video where Simba is proven with numbers and facts to be able to survive on the protein provided by termites.

I feel like alex would manage to survive due to his genetic survival skills. He would learn eventually. Under circumstances of starvation especially his primal instincts would kick in. And since he is the apex predator on the island he would have no problem surviving.

But if Alex went full savage and didn’t go back to normal he would survive easily, we see him being strong enough to be able to pick up everyone in the group which one of them is a adult hippo and see him move extremely fast to the point of catching Marty also all other predators fear him, so if we give him those facts about his wild side he would thrive

In terms of hunting, yeah he would be perfectly capable of surviving. But it may come down to the size of the prey. We saw how fast both the lemurs and fossa, both of whom are native to the island, were and with how small they are it would be both harder and more laborious hunting them. Alex, as an adult male lion, would need to eat several lemurs per day to sustain himself and the effort that would go into that would probably cancel out the sustenance he got from that food. The lemurs especially, while much larger in population, would be able to hide in the trees and canopy that Alex would simply be too big to reasonable go through to get to them.

well the theory is talking about the real animals, not the ones in the actual movie. Actual movie characters are a bit smarter than the real life animals and might be able to find ways around some of these issues.

It's good to note that you missed a few things; Madagascar used to have three endemic species of Dwarf Hippo with evidence suggested they went extinct about 1,000 years ago (with more recent discoveries saying 200 years ago). So the environment itself is already perfect for Gloria, a giant hippo, to survive. As well, even if he could hunt, Alex would not be able to get the calories he needs to survive on the basis that all the megafauna endemic to Madagascar (the ground lemurs, the elephant bird, the giant fossa and the aforementioned dwarf hippo) are all extinct, there wouldn't be enough big, ground dwelling animals to sustain an adult lion.

Well if you noticed, matpat based this around REAL LIFE (thats why you see him ignore stuff like the predators [hunting alone and not in packs unlike the MOVIE] and such). If it was movie based the penguins would survive, heck, all of them would survive. But because it is based on real life and how these animals in the real world will survive if they washed up on an island in madagascar, and last time I saw, Penguins dont know how to build planes and make explosives out of fish

As for Marty, I don't think a real Zebra would be comfortable to approach humans (depending). Unlike their direct cousins, horses; Zebras tend to remain wild and refuse to interact peacefully with humans even while tamed. Zebras share more in common with donkeys, so they definitely would not do any labor. They are much too thick to ride on. If Marty was washed up with a small heard, he might have a chance. By himself however, he can at least do better than a released lion.

Well actually, they seemed to have been "dropped off" at around the same time and at the same spot. If the crates were carried by a current it's not unfeasable that would have landed on the same island, espacially one as big as Madagascar.
