Car Zie that is sad to hear. I am a big Filson fan, but I will not buy any of their products that are not made in USA

That’s is the only reason I started buying them. My dad wore their products for years. Maybe I’ll buy from Woolrich if Filson becomes cop outs.

Car Zie - I just purchased a Macinaw wool vest on the Filson website. When it arrives and I find out it’s not made in the USA, I’ll be sending it back. I will not put up with that.

graycloud057 they will actually say where it’s made if you scroll down and they will still be making stuff in the USA just the hipster stuff will be made overseas so you can still buy there staple items like the mackinaw cruiser and it’ll be made in the usa

Seems to be pretty common these days. Heavy-duty hiking and outdoors clothes manufacturers have started aiming their products to people who want to look like lumberjacks or hunters even if they only visit national parks and never stray away from roads and paths. I remember when Fjällraven clothes used to be the real deal, meant to last a lifetime. Their durability has suffered greatly since then and their cut is first and foremost meant to look cool, rather than being practical. I really like the looks of Filson clothes and I do hope that they still are good quality, but the pricing is absurd. The only product that I'm actually considering right now is just their hat - the tin cloth bush hat actually (the one on this video doesn't seem to be the bush hat).

It is neither the packer nor the bush hat. It is a style they discontinued.

I’d go with the Filson tin wax. That hat must be perfectly aged!

Customer service just told me they shrink a lot.

Tom Samilson My tin cloth version shrank a lot, so I would guess you'll get shrinkage. I'd return it. Best of Luck- Sean

haha! I came here to ask this very same question. I've had my eye on a tin packer hat for quite a while now and the word from the plains is that they shrink over time. My head size is 23 inches so that places me on the higher end of a 'Large', according to Filson's sizing, so I guess I should go one size up to account for the shrinkage that'll come over the years. Did you find that this hat shrinks over time from getting wet, being exposed to heat, or during washing?

It was a sale on the Filson website. Probably not a super popular item.

Emma Tennyson I hear you Emma, and have a Tilley, which is another legendary hat, but they don’t look better with age like the Tin cloth. They sure are better in the heat though. Take Care.
