To this day she is my all time favorite female athlete. It's impossible to not like & admire her. Competitor, good sport, fan favorite, and beautiful. A lioness.

I was so privileged to see this live in Amsterdam while visiting there for 3 months. Come 2018 and 2019 and Schippers seems to be unable to regain this sort of form. Such a shame!

Every athlete reaches a peak age. In women events is usually younger than men. Think of Phelps.... However, there was a famous runner, also a Dutch woman by the way, in the 1950's who ran in her 30's (and after becoming a mother) and she beat records in races and Age records too
