Hey mate, leave all the control arm bolts and chassis end of radius arm bolts loose until youve got all the weight on it & its at finished ride height. Otherwise your bushes will be flogged out in no time.

When rebuilding the swivel hubs get the heavy duty seals for the axle and inner hub bearing.. They make such a huge difference to service life and keep water/mud out unlike the oem seals which are absolutely rubbish

Loving the build ... just noticed nylock nuts on suspention parts ... shouldn't it use cone locks ?

Probably should have, my understand is nylocks are good for one use and cone locks are okay for multiple. Only had nylocks at the time for a few of the new bolts!

Looking good mate. Super satisfying putting clean parts together. Thanks for the note on the 4.8 diff hubs not fitting the usual gu diff. FYI the engineer passed my build with the Subaru caliper handbrake. I'm still thinking how I can make it better, possibly some electronic hand brake calipers as a secondary caliper. Anyway just stoked to have it registered. Any reason you went for the tb543 over the tb540? I think I'm going to do my cab in it.
@DesignedandBuilt
@DesignedandBuilt 2 жыл бұрын
Good to hear! Super annoying they are different bolt patterns. Secondary calipers are definitely possible and the thought crossed my mind. I just went satin for all the underbody stuff as it really won't be on display. I'm using the 540 on my cab :)
@bennyjahmin3953
@bennyjahmin3953 2 жыл бұрын
@@DesignedandBuilt So are they the same paint and 540 is gloss and 543 is satin? You going to use a primer on the cab? I know it states it's a direct to metal paint but speaking to a panel beater that uses it alot on bull bars he said he would always use a primer first.
@DesignedandBuilt
@DesignedandBuilt 2 жыл бұрын
@@bennyjahmin3953 I'm pretty sure, don't quote me on that. Worth talking to your local paint shop. I used primer on the cab and chassis a lot of stuff i'm doing is direct to metal though. Sticks on pretty well!

Why upgrade the Razor 200 torch Richard? What did you get to replace it?
@DesignedandBuilt
@DesignedandBuilt 2 жыл бұрын
I wanted to try out non-unimig consumables ie Furic. I actually got the SR-17 Unimig Torch with an adaptor so I can use other brands. I also didn't like the throw on the standard torch, the SR-17 is a fixed head and it feels like I have more control!
@davidb6651
@davidb6651 2 жыл бұрын
@@DesignedandBuilt Thanks Richard. Mine is still new, so will spend a bit of time running it in and getting used to it. Unimig also now have 2 kits that include pyrex cups and fittings like Furick for the standard T2 handpiece. (U42005 and U42006).
