I've had to step back from this game a few times for my own mental health for how frustrated I was with challenges like this, but thank you for posting these guides as they have saved me time and trouble so far for the last three trophies I need for the platinum! (I give MAJOR props to Square for putting as much effort into Rebirth as possible, but I feel they've overdone these trophies and achievements to point of making them a chore after a full normal mode story playthrough)

Whoever was in charge of the hard mode side content is really twisted. The main story on hard was difficult but fair, cant say the same about some of the combat sims

after MANY hours of grinding materia and items and gear n whatnot, after trying out different ways to ease my way to hard mode stuff that didn’t really work as much as they claim, THIS build is the most efficient it was such a relieving feeling finally beating this challenge after many times of trying different ways

For those on chapter 13, first playthrough, I substituted Cait Sith with Yuffie, weapon I used was crystalline cross (cause it gives the debuff extension weapon skill. The other 3 skills I used were magic attack power +20 x2 and max HP +200). I used the enhanced yggdrasil Armlet on her because I haven't visited the temple of the ancients yet and I used the Hades Armlet on Cloud and the Valkyrian bangle on Aerith. For Cloud's weapon I used the Rune Blade cause I didn't obtain the Slipstream saber yet. Being that I used the Rune Blade the weapon skills I used were magic attack power+20, attack power+20, limit break damage +10% and ATB charge rate up. Everything else I used from what u saw in the video and it worked first try. Thanks Optinoob for the strat once again.

This challenge near the last few rounds was a bit rough. Cait Sith was Earthbound but I luckily have a limit break to kill the Grandhorn. And at round 10 Aerith was killed by the sandspitter after I killed all the other enemies. Used punisher mode, then a Quaga. But I got thru this on my 1st try

Thank you so much for this bro!! I literally had deleted my game at one point with how annoying these brutals were more because I felt like it was more annoying than fun. I used a variant of your build but subbed out Cait for Yuffie and let Aerith do the stop and meteor job while Yuffie dealt element and cloud did the rock spam and I floored the challenge!!! Can’t say it enough your guide videos are awesome!!

Great build. I just beat this challenge with your build. The one thing I would add is to prepare for the ostrich in round 8. It turned cloud into a frog the first two times for me. I was able to mitigate this by putting cloud in the second slot. That was he starts on the right side. He was juuuuusst far enough away to cast quake before he could be turned into a frog a third time.

Only thing i got left are Hard Mode and now working on these my man! 2 down after this one. Your guides are working wonders so far just like Remake did! I had to redo this challenge cuz that ostrich in Round 8 used a frog spell on my party during Quake spell, but didnt on the 2nd attempt. Onto the next ones boss!

For anyone who wants to play for fun and not end the fights under a second 😂 equip Magnify paired with Cleansing and also First Strike on one character. Cast Resist at the beginning of each round. Always have 1 ATB ready for that character to recast it again when Resist wears off. The annoying part of this challenge is the detrimental status effects poison, silence, toad and petrify. If you can avoid those, the rounds are bit more manageable. Have everyone with Revival just in case. Thanks to Optinoob's guide on the Red XIII's legendary bout, I found the usefulness of the Cleansing materia. Thanks Optinoob! 😇

I struggled with this fight so much. That savage grandhorn or the petrifying jellyfish just kept ruining my runs one way or the other. With this strategy both essentially died in seconds! Thank you so much! The devs really managed to make a fun experience incredibly frustrating.

Damn, really appreciate these builds. I really want the platinum and there's only these challenges(and the enemy skill cuz I haven't assessed everything) left but they seemed so daunting. I would have tried to min max myself but in a game where there's no one size fits all OP build like so many others I really have to rely on these strategy guides.

Managed to get this on my second try. The Tonberries got me the first time. They almost wiped my party the second time. Cait Sith just dancing around with a Bladesplitter because I didn't bother to throw a revival on him in my second try.

Ive found an even easier way. Stick all your cloud materia on yuffie. have her as the leader start with dopple ganger first strike switch to Aerith arcane ward first strike switch back to yuffie send out shurikin mash square to get an atb then atb boosst for 2 bars then quakiga. if they dont all die from the first you get you atb back from atb stagger and just spam it.

I'm legit only on hellion 3 damned weeks later I hate these fights. It's as hard as fighting emerald weapon on white terror and death wheel just as quick deaths. They clearly don't understand the legendary difficulty should be that hard not brutal. It sucks having to use a specific build to cheese the fight because you are an adult who wants to go to work to make money and survived there's no variability in any hard fights. Hate it. The one right before this was okay but this one is ridiculous they always put extremely hard fights so far and that you have to start all the way over tediously doing the same fight after I got the secret summon the entire game has just become tedious and it just makes me angry I wish I could play and enjoy it again but that won't happen. Just a slog now. Thanks either way.

Pro tip stack atb boost on Aerith and give her the Petrify materia build, start battle with arcane ward, atb boost, followed up with Petrify doubled 😉

I'm glad you added Comet Synergy. Is it important? Not really But since she's a body and you're trying to nuke with Cloud she can just spend whatever time after Arcane Ward to just give you that insurance nuke. I notice in the first fight I just let her rock it since I'd been using it anyways. Its not the most helpful but it has pilled on damage or stunted targets to that limits won't miss and so forth

@optinooby who do i use in replace of Cait Sith if im playing chapter 13 (1st playthrough with no chapter select) at level 70 with all my materia maxed including the 5 you get from Gilgamesh island (swiftcast, reraise, limit support, etc). I have everything in the video besides Cait Sith and the saber Cloud has (Im using Rune from your Army of the Dead video). Im assuming Rune or Igneous will suffice.

Fuck Square Enix. They made a horrible challenge where Savage Grandhorn uses Earthbound to completely soft lock your party until they lose all their HP. They made this challenge completely unplayable.

Weird how do you have that materia slot for Iron Megaphone. Wait never mind. Had to do a crash course. This is the problem with getting Cait so late and then losing him. His folio gains aren't as prevalent so they snuck and colosseum folio into one of the the post game advance matches. He literally needed ONE more folio to reach LV8 so that the Iron Megaphone would recieve all of its benefits. Just...*sigh*

The 5th and 9th round are the tricky ones for me. My materia isn't max but with both first strike materia max one in cloud one on aerith and a ABT boost accessory on aerith I just got cloud with arcane ward then cloud uses his double ATB thing with one maybe two level 2 quakes I and that dealt with most. Nearly lost a few times and I did get silenced and frogged but I managed to do it. I'm hoping this strat works until the gotterandam reward one but I guess I can work cloud as the magic attacker with aerith and Barret as support

I think the build here maybe that, just freeze all enemies instantly for 10 seconds and then Quake them all!!! For bosses though, you use Gotterdammerung. The person freezing, put HP > MP on them so they have 6000 MP ;)

I don't have my materia maxed and I honestly don't think I'll come back to the game because I want get the genji gloves first before continuing the vr fights. Problem is I hate the minigames so I'll leave the game December when they'll be nothing new I want to play. I found in the previous fight that even when I highlighted Radiant Ward, Chrono Aegis started instead. I mean it wasn't a big deal as I still won but it was annoying.😊

Was hoping they might have adjusted the difficulty down a bit for hard/brutal/legendary etc. but it seems that it is mostly about lighting, performance sharp mode, stuff like that from what I have read. Currently farming to get my Swiftcast maxed, then will have another go at this challenge. ;)
