During the final dungeon after Cecil regains consciousness there's a scene between Cecil and Golbez (That is, if Golbez was not killed) And during one point Cecil asks Golbez if he's still ashamed of the name Zemus gave him, and Golbez said he wasnt because he believed he had to live up to his crimes and that he wasnt going to hide anymore.

ive done! This gamegame has no CG that's the difference while ff4 (during cgs has voice actings) t I think this game is always the same you walk a little bit and wait for a clip. The only things that made want to play this game were mysterious girl and his f* battle theme and the bands ah..err and rydia is pretty (cool) in this version iynwim

Definitely agree. Just beat the Android version myself yesterday, and it was overall an enjoyable experience. Flaws aside, I liked the game's story structure and most of the new characters introduced. The new gameplay mechanics are fine too.

Damn, that sucks. It did the same thing to me on my first try which made me surprised when it took me straight back to the title screen, since it definitely felt scripted. Fortunately, it only cast holy on my party on my second try, which allowed Rosa to cast slow and the rest of the third phase went fairly smoothly after that.

Cast Slow on Creator, haste on your white mage and have them stack Shell or have 14 Small Tails, convert it to a Rainbow Tail, get the Limit Ring and equip it to either Cecil or Ceodore and have them do Vibra Plus to instantly rape Creator's ass

Honestly its one of the bigger reasons to play the 2D PSP remake. To have a 3D remake like FFIV and leave out the voices just doesn’t work

For me the 3d lacks the ff 1,2,3,5,and 6 boss fight, but still not a truly bad game

I remember liking this one. Felt like it was as fun to play as 4

and i do the IOS version and once again Matrix software Killed ff4... Ff4 Ds/Steam/Ios its not very wrong because its a very good remake of SNES Ff4 with cinematics and voices and its not very bad that like the SNES we cant pick Edward,Palom,Porom,Cid and Yang after Babil Geant :( But Ff4 After years IOS/Steam killed the magic of the original games : yes there are a NG+ but not Challenge Dungeon anymore, No Depths with Bosses from Ff1 to 6 ( It was the coolest battles of the games) honestly i arrived to the moon i pick ceodore family ( and rydia for eidolons) i go throught the ff4 bosses that i knew like the back of my hand even the lunar dragon who replace mortalis is not a true Challenge the only challenge for me now are Lunar Odin and Lunar Leviathan and when i farm 10 level in bahamut room they will be not a challenge anymore... I will finished that game tomoreow and came back in the Psp version for the Depths with bosses from previous ff...

I wouldn't go so far as to call it BAD... but it WAS completely unecessary. The Creator here and Zeromus were probably the weakest-written of all the anagonists in the FF series. Of course, that's only counting the ones I've played. The only one that surpasses the Creator in terms of viewer confusion is Necron. But he honestly wasn't the primary villain for 99% of the game. If they'd made FF4-2 a more personal story with a more personal villain, it might have been a much better sendoff than... this.

I'll probably say that after years is more of a 5/10. It's not a completely horrible game in terms of gameplay, music and the rest but the story and certain parts are a rehash of the previous game and only has a few things added that could be considered different. Going through the tales was a chore and while I do see some good things on them most of them is unnecesary... untill the final tale which does gets better because now you can choose what you want to pick. At it's best it brings some what if scenarios on the FF4 lore and certain interaction with the characters are interesting, and there's also kain story. At it's worst it's a rehash of the previous game, a lazy excuse of a sequel and certain parts reach to a level of fanfiction.

@@lapinbeau what about Cloud of Darkness or Yu Yevon?? I mean a bunch of people will say “they were there the whole time” but I think they were improvised final bosses.. and not to mention Shuyin.. I think at least they could have made Yu Yevon and Shuyin formidable bosses in the Remasters but they are both still a joke…

It was just fan service. Personally I loved FFIV and thought After Years was awesome too!

Played the original on my SNES 20+ years ago (back when we called it Final Fantasy II), and played TAY on my PSP a couple years ago... and liked them both. Granted, FF4 had a fuller and more original story, but I enjoyed The After Years for what it was, so no complaints. I could see where some people might not be partial to it, but I pretty much agree with Francis, each has their charm.

I loved them both too. I don't think any sequel can beat awesome original games. The After Years was simply that, After Years. It was a nice and inexpensive game that just took FFIV to the next step. Frankly it's nice they did that considering their sequels have been FFX-2 and the FFXIII-2 and 3, and if there are games that deserve sequels it is the earlier ones. VIII and IX are both very definitive in their endings. VII is over-rated and in my opinion doesn't deserve a remake and a sequel. VI was a perfect game, I'd rather them leave it as is, however the rest could easily have sequels and justify having them.
