That makes me appreciate both the art direction on the original models to make such iconic looking designs with relatively simple graphics and that they managed to translate even the more absurd details into HD.

Just shows how imaginative the original designs were. Every time you saw a new enemy pop up in Remake I lit up and thought "it's that guy!" awesome!

i think hardest work were for Remake designers. cus they should make more realistic and detailed design, but at same time stay same thing. this is insane how well it was implemented without actually redesigning

@@MrVoland44 They did an incredible job. Seeing them side by side I was really impressed how true they are to the original, but look like they fit right in with new, updated graphics. There was a lot of love put into this work.

Original one on PS1 looks much worse than "original" shown in the video. PS1 version ran 320x240 with no texture filter. Character look too pixelated He is clearly using remaster version or emulated version with higher resolution and texture filters

well, yeah everyone sort of has an imagination at that age to visualize how we want it to look. The simple graphics back in the day was in a sense so abstract we imagined the look of the characters and world to be realistic in our head. Now it's manifested into this remake thankfully.

I do agree they are damn near perfect! Correct me if you think differently. But SOME old animations looks more frantic/aggressive. And a little less balanced in scale. Like some of the cheesy weapons stood out more before, which I liked. Eg. Soldier operator/smogger. Maybe by design to give a more intense feel, which the remakes combat system makes up for.

I love how loyal they stayed with the original designs, yet how much they've improved them !! Actually, it goes with the whole game, every character (beside minor ones) and area are so loyal to the OG game and it feels like they've truly brought it to life !

That was in essence I believe the point square was trying to make, giving us new yet familiar things with remake. Like they said "here is your childhood but more epic!". Lol like hell I am gonna just go and be one of those haters and never did The minute remake came I was instantly hooked and then again ffvii has always been number one in my list of favorite ff games.

Sephiroth had a model you could have in your party. When Cloud tried to remember stuff from Nibelheim the game had few fights you had Sephiroth fighting by your side. So they kinda needed to make him look good. As good as your other characters (or Clouds battle model) at least.

Taking a moment to appreciate the uploader who probably went throught hundreds of models on Kimera and prayed the software wouldn't crash. (Or maybe that other model viewer tool was used, either way excellent work!) The custom made background is really neat

@@lynn740 problem is people will still hate them including ffvii remake. No matter how good square does there will be these super extreme toxic fans and purists that everything must stay how it was thirty years ago. Remake they hate cause they do not look like they came from 1997 and also the new voice actors. They forget that it gets super repetitive doing the same thing over and over and over. I get it I understand I am old school too I grew up with the ff series but I also one to look forward to change and remake did vii justice while keeping what we love in it but also making it different. Square said that remake was made for new and old fans alike to give us old fans a old yet new view while giving new fans a view of what we experienced back in 1997 to 2008. But like I said there are gonna be hate no matter how great things are

Of all the games I have played, (and I have played many) and all the remakes, FF7 turned out to be a TRUE remake, not much at all if any was lost, indeed improved 👌👍

Awesome video comparison old to new! One thing most FF7 fans thought when remake was announced was that they couldn't possibly put most enemies in the game and make them look believable. In the remake they did it with flying colors, the work that went into FF7 Remake is truly profound for both new and old fans alike! Especially the Swordipede and Hell House.

Not only about them being boss battles, but also how many unique things they've done to them. So many of them have different ways to pressure/stagger them or just have unique gimmicks. So much love and effort was put into reimagining FF7 and I respect it a lot.

All of the remake models look absolutely fantastic. The attention to detail and they way they translated the low-poly models into high detail and kept them faithful to the originals is magnificent. Even so, my inner eight-year-old can't stop giggling over the fact that some of the updated animal enemies actually have heinie holes.

Some of these are so imaginatively recreated, but a few were a little let down based on the original design, such as the character from 2:20, his Lance was replaced with a generic sword.
