Today.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Demo came out for all PS4 users to download and try. I immediatly did this morning as soon as I woke up because I have been over excited for this release.
I cannot give a review based off of a demo so I will not but I can honestly say that the game in many aspects is far better than I thought it would be. The combat is flawless allowing you to change between characters. It is also incredibly fluid and I experienced no hiccups in the game while playing. The ATB system on the bottom of the screen is on display allowing you to use MP to cast spells, use items, or do a special ability. Doing any of those three actions spends one bar out of the two that you have per character. If you run out of an ATB bar you cannot do those three actions.
Each character has a basic attack and a super charged attack that is assigned to a different button. The game does a fantastic job on introducing each element of the game one step at a time so it is not overwhelming. By the end of the demo the only struggle I had was remembering I was not playing Fortnite and my attack button wasn't on the trigger but instead is mapped to the square button. (I play alot of Fortnite).
I love how the music was integrated into the combat and found myself smiling alot during my small raid with the game. Small conversations and quick quips from Cloud to Barret during combat and even out of combat makes the world feel alive and more realistic. I also loved that if other NPC's are talking and you step away their dialogue can still be heard and then it auto-displays on the screen. This game is polished to the absolute brim and I for one cannot wait to play this entire thing and every episode there-after.
