@SarahKey I SWEAR to you and the internet... I'm NOT lying!! I had a random thought about Final Fantasy X-2 yesterday and I was like "The f....Why am I randomly thinking about that game?" Then I come here and see this video. Minds in link somehow? Been randomly having thoughts about all types of things (then seeing the things randomly thought of pop up somehow) for a while now. It's been long enough that this has been happening. I'm at that point now. How?! Why?!! Any who, though. Nice video.

It's the cringiest game ever made; It's Kindgom hearts 2's finny fun extended for 25 hours; It's the sort of game that you have to change the channel for everytime someone walks into the living room.

That's also why people hated it. It's not like X. So it doesn't feel like a sequel at all. More like a spinoff. Which I feel would have fit better than being a direct sequel. Especially with how different it is.

Its actually a really well thought out scene its a pretty deep scene about coping with situation way beyond your control and the stress of being held to ridiculously high standards. Its cringy out of context or if you dont understand whats going on....

People always use that scene out of context to prove that the game is bad, but it was part of the narrative. It is supposed to sound cringy and forced because Tidus is forcing himself to act happy even when he and the others don't really feel that way as a coping mechanism.

William Harmon I agree 100% There’s actually quite a bit of emotional and psychological depth to the scene and it’s genuinely one of my favorite moments in gaming history.

Yup, my first time I had no idea so got the plain ending with no resolution to the Tidus issue at all. That was rather disappointing.

Perfect reason why i love the game

i still have the game and my PS2 is fine but i try finish ffx-2 like 5 time in my life (with several years beetwen each try) and i ALWAYS end up drop the game (my personal best is get to the concert i drop the game at that the 2 last time) its a shame since ffx is my favorite game of all time and i still cant play it whitout cry at every big moment, but for some reason i just cant with ffx-2 :x

I don't think they planned to, rather they used what little power they had left to bring him back as a favor to Yuna for all she had done to help them. The Fayth for Bahamut explains it to you at some point.

I'm sure they were happy to do it for Yuna but they don't say it's cause you helped us. Bahamut shows up and basically says you want to go see him? They had promised him they would do it anyway. The entire problem with that is that FAYTH DON'T EXIST. The ending of FFX results in ALL fayth in the entire world being permanently ended and sent to the farplane (which, may i remind you, means they do not retain conciousness, cannot be summoned, and cannot be spoken with as per the rules of the farplane in FFX). The end scene of X was never meant to be part of this game because the developers flat out admitted they didn't intend to make a sequel to FFX when they released it.

@@kingofbudokai not true. the fayth do exist as energies of the farplane ( which has been hinted at as being something like gaia of FF7 with unlimited energy ). they're different from other spirits sent to the farplane because they were directly linked to that source of energy, hence why they were capable of being summoned as aeons. their tethers to their fayths were cut, but they still exist beyond the farplane. they were at peace and "one" with the energy of the world until shuyin and vegnagun hooked themselves to that energy and corrupted it. that's why they exist in the underworld of the farplane and why they fought yuna again. so no, they aren't nonexistent and they also aren't permanently gone. they exist as the direct link to the energy of the farplane / spira. they use a fraction of that energy to "dream up" tidus again, which is nothing compared to what they used to do with it. they're still very much resting within the energy of spira / farplane.

Spira came first but its the same planet as gaia. On this planet exists the lifestream a powerful flow of life energy that maintains the balance of nature and sustains all life on the planet.... some of the summons are the oldest inhabitants of the planet, and were eventually worshiped as deities by humanoid inhabitants. eventually the civilisation that built zanarkand rose and fell due to the events before ffx. after that whole story eventually some cataclysm lead to a near extinction, only a small fraction live on including descendents of the shinra character still carrying on his dream of harnessing the farplane now known as the promised land that has been lost for generations as an energy source. however over the course of time this humanoid race would eventually become the cetre after many many 100s or 1000s of years... eventually the cetre would split many would decide to settle down and end theyre nomadic ways i believe the shinra descendants would have been at or near the head of this group. Then 2000 years before ff7 jenova an alien from space with telepathic abilities crashed into the planet causing mass devastation the cetre traveled to the impact site to help heal the planet... jenova having sensed the lifestream and being able to read minds subjected the cetre to horrific visions involving theyre deceased loved ones and eventually wiped out 99% of the cetre being sealed by the last few along with the ice queen shiva summon(based on her scan data in remake). Meanwhile the other small sect of humanity became what they are in 7s modern time and the story continues...... This is a 10,000+ year history of gaia/spira a planet of cycles between life and death sustained by an endless flow of energy know as the lifestream tied to a lost location once known as the farplane and now only remembered in legends as the promised land... the arival of jenova and the discovery of mako energy conversion threatens to taint and or deplete the lifestream entirely leading to the planets permanent end...

I don't know if you'll see this reply on your year old comment, but I don't know if you're giving all the credit to Yuna. Sure she was important to saving Spira, but she could never have done it without Tidus and the rest of the gang. It's a statistical impossibility.

Me too, when I first started X2 I thought it was terrible...now iv played it 2x and probably goin to play #3 bc I messed messing up getting the mascot dresspheres my last playthrough 😓 I played both when they first came out and just got them last year remastered on the switch wondering if I would love them as much now that I'm older... and I do, if not more, since I understand everything better than when I was a kid.

I agree. I love X-2 for what it is but X didn't really need a sequel nor a perfect ending. Tidus had to disappear, without the Fayth dreaming he is no more.

Yeah, I remember getting that ending in farplane and crying so bad. And to this day it's still my canon ending, because it's the most realistic to the history.

That's not an argument. You can literally say that about anything that most people find bad. It's not a bad game, true. That's subjective, and up to the person. Even though I don't like the gameplay, I don't see it as bad. What is bad, though, is the fact that it's and awful sequel. A sequel improves and adds upon what's already there. It doesn't replace them. X-2 replaces everything gameplay wise from X. making it something completely different. X fans wanted to play a X sequel. Something that still felt like X, but upgraded/refined, and continues the story. What they got was a whole different form of gameplay, a removal of the leveling system, new gameplay mechanics, and change in tone, music..... It was too much of a change. You don't tell a fan base to grog through things they aren't going to like, just because you wanted to change everything. Of course they'd get upset.

People kinda need to realise that when you end a cycle that's lasted for a thousand years and completely reshape the entire world by uprooting its central religion and exposing the hypocrisy of its leaders (who are all gone by the end of X, except for Kelk), that world will start to become VERY different. The ban on machina is lifted and people no longer have to live in fear, but at the same time people are no longer united by that fear and a power vaccuum opens up. It would be strange for X-2 NOT to be drastically different to X, but at the same time the general shape and appearence of the world is the same. You look at landmarks and recognise them from X. It's the people inhabiting those places that have changed.

FFX was about saving the world. FFX-2 is about living in it after it's been saved, learning how to live again, and finding a future.

@@Someguyhere111 You see, the problem with that is that this is the sequel to a well beloved game. And as such, it is expected that that sequel be similar to the predecessor, and build upon it. X-2 actively removes and changes just about everything from the original. Leaving fans of the things from the original out in the rain. That just leaves new players. But who's going to start a character and story driven series from the end? People will play X first. So who was X-2 made for? So, it's a game that was made for a different audience and made to be different from the original. It's going to be hated. Especially by the people who like the first game.

Same. I love this game and have a lot of fun with it. I think people usually shit on this game cause it's so feminine in pretty much every theme, and it was specifically built around a very teenage femininity. Sadly our society has a hate boner for everything teenage girls like, which is why stuff like Justin Bieber, Twilight, etc are so widely despised despite them being very "normal" and nowhere near being the worst of their type. It was, in a way, a game that defied the mainstream trends of its franchise, and continues to be crucified for it despite being one of the best final fantasy titles in terms of gameplay, flexibility, lack of linearity and replayability. If its goofy humor had been "boyish" instead of girly, I can assure you it would be remembered much more dearly by the collective community. Double standards I guess...

They shit on the game, not because it's a bad game (people usually just use this as a general excuse), but because it's an absolutely terrible sequel. Sequels improve and add, not change. X-2 changes SO many things. So, of course people don't like it.

I love and hate Crisis Core, I love Zack's story but HATE the whole Genesis plot. Nomura literally made Genesis solely because he is a massive Gackt fanboy.

@@BigFry9591 Shen -- soorry, name is actually Shuyin, I think -- is the final villain of FFX-2. He was the living person that Tidus, the dream, was based on. This being a Japanese game with Shinto roots, it's probable that Tidus and Yuna are reincarnations of Shuyin and Lenne. And there has obviously been a retcon since the ending of FFX. You can't really destroy an intelligent being in the world of FFX -- they either become fiends, or go on to the farplane. The fayth are no exception. They stopped dreaming and died in this world, but they still exist on the farplane, and the power of their thought is such that they can still send Aeons into the world.

It wasn’t seem development because she has feelings the other “part” was around(she didn’t leave yune from thousands years), so it time for being one.. taken 2 in one just better than. each person will have her own potential for stories... we can’t complain because character nature design. It only something quotes explaining.. ! maybe not bad game so that why she still have fans for pulling along battle:)
