Final Fantasy XI: Editioral - Is Ninja a Legit Endgame Tank?

An entry in a new series... sort of.
A while back I made a video addressing the question of whether Blue Mage was overpowered or not. This is the next entry in that revised series. So, is Ninja a legit endgame tank? You usually only ever see groups shouting for Rune Fencers and Paladins, but if you ask me they're missing a trick. I'd say that it is, but as with any tank job, let along any job in general, it's situational.
In this video I go over what I think the strengths of using a Ninja as a tank are and stack it against it's weaknesses, coming to a conclusion at the end.

Good video. The hidden gems of Monk and ninja. Interestingly enough, I just posted similar comments on the forum before watching this video. Didn't even realize this was up, but it's what I've been doing for a while.

can you do a guide on WHM endgame tanking? on occasion when ive had a dead tank and the boss is fixed on my WHM i can tank VERY well if MP is kept up and a mix of -dt gear with solace stoneskin effect i think WHM would be a great hidden gem in the world of tanks (see what i did there?)

Interesting video, I haven't seen that many videos analyzing Ninja as a tank in current times. It's been years since I have played FFXI; I'm curious about something Ruau, from your perspective, are there still new players getting into FFXI or are most players veterans?

Do you think that's possibly what the developers are thinking with MNK? That they don't want to make it as powerful as some of the other DPS options in the game, because of the strengths of Subtle Blow? Or have they really just not figured out how to "fix" MNK?

Have you had any success as ninja nuking kei? I've tried it on a couple of setups and it would appear that Ninja's native magic accuracy is very low in order to be able to comfortably nuke Kei without resists. When I did it, somewhere around 7/10 of my nukes were getting resisted for crap damage, and I am Master with pretty above average nuking gear. Have you experienced this?

Did your group allow you to sub BLM or RDM? Not that I played this game in a long ass time so I wouldn’t know much about it these days but just wondering. Also I wonder if NIN sub RNG for gun weapon skill even though they can’t use relic weapon. Wonder how much dmg they can do since Ninja has good RATTK, but I know it’s mostly for throwing. XD

Wow I didn't know 10 was still alive. Stopped playing like 2007. Played 14 for about a year end game wasn't fun. I thought the servers closed.

It's quite healthy to be honest. I started back up again about a month ago and man is it more fun than ever! With the included trust's you're able to solo all content except end game now. Which arguably seems to opposite of what the was meant for. However most people simply don't have an entire weekend to sit around looking for a party to do something simple or small and often not being able to get much done. On Asura the population is around 2,000-2,500 at all time's and certainly feels alive no matter where you go.

The private server Nasomi is amazing well over 1k players and it's the 2005ish version of the game almost vanila,no weird noon books

It is, but it's got it's problems. I think I went into it in my PUP guide but you'd have to check. I should have time-stamped it there if I did.

Nin/war great for hold hate. Also most hnm nin cant those. Because aoe will drop all shadows. So pld/war and /nin with enm builds are better. I'm talking about 75 cap. Not now broken game. Where you zerk everything.

I carry a stack of each of the Master Tools, that's only 3 slots. If you're carrying around 10+ stacks of tools for each spell on NIN main then you're missing a trick.

Idris GEO Regal COR 4-song Aeonic/Mythic/Relic BRD Literally impossible to beat that level of support for standard pickups. MNK was fully decked out in +1 Adhemar, Kendatsuba and +1 Moonbow Belt.
