Final Fantasy XI: Sortie (Blue Mage Perspective)

Hello everyone. It's been a while since my last upload and I apologize for that.
RL has come at me hard and fast in the past two months but the immediate future looks less turbulent, so I'll get back into things. For now, here's a full Sortie run from yesterday from my, a Blue Mage's, perspective. Blue Mage really is one of the best jobs for this content given it's adaptability, DPS and crowd control. I think this is a good showcase of it being done well.
This run was far from perfect but we still got around 21k Gallimaufry.
...We just call them "Muffins".

Section A - Acuex - 1:21 (Shard & Metal) Section A - Leeches - 4:30 Section A - Ghajot - 8:29 Section B - Hecteyes (Group Splits Up) - 11:50 Our group splits up here and lets COR & BLU deal with Elementals while Tank, DD and BRD work on Hecteyes/Acuex for more Gallimaufry. Q: You're /RDM on BLU? A: Yes. Having the native Fast Cast III, Aquaveil, Phalanx and other tools is too good to pass up. I'm not going for maximum physical DPS so /WAR isn't going to help me here. Q: What weapons are you using in your swaps? A: Physical DPS (Naegling & Sakpata's Sword) Magic DPS (Bunzi's Rod & Sakpata's Sword) Blunt DPS (Maxentius & Sakpata's Sword). Q: Why are you swapping spells between B and C and then between C and D? A: Dream Flower and Magic Hammer aren't going to do anything in C, whereas the Store TP from Diffusion Ray will help. Magic Hammer goes back on for D because it is your lifeline when you are casting so many high MP spells in a row. Q: Why don't you actually cast Water Bomb? A: Because it's AoE sucks. It's there for the INT. Silent Storm is what I sometimes use and it is much better, not so much anymore though. Q: Tearing Gust? A: Yes, it's extremely powerful. -30 Magic Def. Bonus in an AoE for 1:00. That is equivalent to dropping Geo-Malaise on everything around you and it speeds up Aeolian Edge burns considerably. If stacked with an actual GEO... well... next time perhaps.

Sleeping all those Acuex on start is waste of time, just circle through 3 AOE spells with entomb being one of them and use cocoon +phalanx and it's really easy to survive. Why aren't you using Thibron offhand for physical DPS? It's way better and it's easy to cap accuracy with it in Sortie. Sudden Lunge on every fomor you fight especially NM is something definitely worth using. Especially that usually people don't use tank here, but even tank is in danger if he tanks few fomors and will get hit with Aegis schism.

The fact that I saw KingGalka warms my heart. I hope its the same guy I remember from like 2004 when I was in highschool. The guy was always nice as hell and answered all my noob questions. Hope he's still rocking BLM.

When sortie was announced I was kinda excited even though I havent played in over a decade, but to see it just be "cleave" and spam savage blade is a huge let down :(
