Final Fantasy XI: Sortie Catch Up Guide!! Unlock the Entire Zone in One Entry!

Hey cat lovers! Welcome to another guide video! In this video, we'll help those of you who haven't started Sortie yet get caught up quick! If you don't know, Sortie is currently split into 8 areas and locked down with locked doors and teleport devices that you initially cannot access. However, this guide will walk you through how to find all of the access items in Sortie so that you can access all 8 areas, which includes the newly released Areas! (Areas E, F, G, and H)! And the best part? 11/12 of these items can be easily done solo and in just one Sortie entry. After all, you don't want to get invited to a Sortie group and be that guy who can't get around the whole zone! Enjoy!

Area A (Acuex; Leeches; Hecteyes)Objectives:
Key #A: Open any door in Area A
Plate #A: Cast a beneficial spell on yourself or a party member while standing next to Device A.
Sheet #A: Touch the Bitzer while wearing no equipment at all.
Area B (Elementals; Umbrils) Objectives:
Key #B: Open the six doors in Area B (B1-B6) in order. You can see the door's number when you target it.
Plate #B: Perform the /hurray emote while targeting Device B.
Sheet #B: Walk from the entrance of Sortie to Bitzer B and touch the Bitzer.
Area C (Ghosts; Skeletons; Corses) Objectives:
Key #C: Open a door in Area C without kill any monsters in the area (ghosts, skeletons, corses).
Plate #C: Kill a monster that is standing on the raised area around Device C.
Sheet #C: Use Device C to materialize foes in area C. Then walk down the ramp to the Bitzer and touch it. You must kill at least one foe in area C and wait until it's body and any chest it drops to disappear before the option will show up on the Device C menu.
Area D (Fomors) Objectives:
Key #D: Open up Doors D1 & D2 within 2 minutes of each other.
Plate #D: Drop the Obsidian Cage temporary item while standing next to Device D.
Sheet #D: Touch Bitzer D after killing every fomor in Area D. This is the only objective that cannot be soloed.

I just wanted to say thanks. I am disabled and memory recall from text is pretty poor. I watched another persons video on my first run and he never zoomed in on the map but the run ending killer was when he just decided to stop filming the run and show fights instead. Thank you for showing the entire run for the most part, I was able to follow you through and get everything but the last crystal solo.

This was EXTREMELY helpful. I recently came back to XI and pretty much binged the Voracious Resurgance missions to unlock the ring and the other powerful rewards. But near the end, I slammed into a brick wall trying to make sense of Sortie and the confusing AF bgwiki page that I eventually "understood" I had to aquire a gimped prime weapon with some weird new currency to proceed further. I was discouraged enough to ask for help in general, , but there too you saved me a lot of embarrassment - I would have been that guy asking for help completely clueless to the semi-elaborate attunement process to get around you've so clearly detailed in the video. Thank you for this - very good looking out. /bow

That minor detail where you open the D door before he says "it's timed" and miss it by a mile listning to him talk about formors before.

??? The door I open at the beginning of the Fomor section where I discuss them doesn't start the timer. The timer starts when you open either door D1 or D2 which I do discuss at about 19:00 in the section titled Gate D1. It's also noted in the quick reference in the video description.

solo with extra toons might kill fomor faster, but solo with trust might be tough...those fomors don't fk around,it can one shot trust tank..very nice guide..thanks man.

Thanks Velner! Will definitely be using this with my group when I return for the free to play. Question though. How much time would you set aside to kill all the fomor? Cheers man.

I wouldn't really set aside any time. I would simply do that objective last to make sure you unlock as much access in a single run. It could take up to 30 minutes, even with a full party. Most groups do not even go to Area H on a regular basis, myself included, so I would just do it last.

For D? You can just warp to C and run to D. The only objective that seems to be impacted from warping is the B Sheet. You need to walk from the entrance to B Bitzer and touch it. Anything else it's safe to warp around.

What is a good set up to clear all formor in sector D please

BLU is indispensable for clearing the Fomors. You can lock them in petrification with Entomb. Aside from BLU, BRD and COR are amazing. You'll need a healer. You can fill the last two spots with any two DDs or add a tank to make it super safe.

For B Basement- if I have B unlocked can I just walk the zone for the KI for the B Sheet or do I have to do both B Key and B Sheet if I already have B warp? (I hope this makes sense)

So, to get the B Sheet, you have to walk from the entrance to the B Bitzer without warping. I don't even think you need the B Key to get this done. Just don't warp to B!

i say it everywhere . . . bring back XI like it was from 2002-2009 and you will have millions playing it !!! after 2009 2010 the cap lvl from 75 to 100 DESTROY the whole game .... now it is just trash and disgusting . . . .
