This game has singlehandedly solved the grandfather paradox problem. Naturally, if you go back in time and kill your grandfather, preventing itself from ever being born, the paradox would manifest itself as a giant boss who must be defeated in order to resolve the timeline.

My prediction for the next XIII nutshell. Lightning: "I've been made into a walking parody of my former self". Sarah: "I'm back to what I was in the first game: a plot device". Snow: "I'm just another moody Final Fantasy character". Fang & Vanille: "They made our sacrifice pointless". Noel: "My whole storyline was derailed". Sazh: "I've been made completely irrelevant". @@Santoryu90 in most Shin Megami Tensei games (less so the Persona subseries but I digress) it actually makes sense; your party members are demons you recruited and not your friends. They have no stake in your characters wellbeing and no real interest in not just letting you die.

This was my favorite of the trilogy, and from a gameplay perspective one of the better all around battle and monster hunt/collection systems the series has seen. Finding the paradoxical endings was quite a bit of fun, even if they didn’t really make sense. One day SquareEnix will recapture the balance between great story telling and great gameplay (Shadowbringers is the closest original content to nailing it). But for an attempted Cronotrigger clone wearing FF clothes, this one is pretty solid.

After the watching the nutshell I realized a couple of things 1. Why didn’t cauis travel back in time and killed bhunivelze and mwynn 2. Etro cause all of this drama because her dad didn’t give her any powers and her dad has mommy issues 3. Why did they make the moggle the datalog for this game 4. Clearly killing hope and Alyssa would have solve 90% of the problem Sarah and Noel would have face in the game And 5. Lighting return is a dress up simulator

@@mattwatson1974 Through Chaos. Thanks to Etro's heart, he can manipulate chaos and so create paradoxes. Once the paradox is big enough, there's enough chaos in that area and time that Caius can use the chaos to distort reality and enter Valhalla and the Void Beyond.
