Think of FF as alternate universes, each game has nothing to do with the others, ffxiv and ffxvi are completely separated. Is like every FF game is it's own universe and story, they only share a few things here and there but every game is separate. That's the reason you can play FFXVI without having played any other FF game before

In most single player FFs you play as pre-established characters. XIV and XI have create a characters because they are MMOs.

You missed the "Dominance" trailer. 'hope you get to give this game a go in the future. It plays somewhat similar to "SW: FO and Survivor".

Certainly fun seeing your reactions as there really are some good sequence cuts from the trailers. I think you missed but one of the trailers - FF16 Dominance Trailer. I think cause it was a State of Play trailer might not have popped up with the others in search. Otherwise I believe you got them all.

Almost all FF games are singular and separate from each other, you can play any of them in whatever order you like. Also 16 is coming to PC so you'll be able to play it. I highly recommend it, it was truly an amazing game and well worth your time. You also don't need to know anything about FF to enjoy it.

Hey, Wiz. Just to explain, the thing about FFXIV (14) is that it's the odd one out in terms of the other numbered titles. Yes, it still has a gripping, engaging narrative, but the fact that it's an MMORPG-which is intended to be enjoyed long term as a frequently-updated, currently ongoing live service game-that means that the story is drawn out and is able to be told primarily inside the game. Which is why their trailers are so sparse with details, since it's intended to tantalize and tell the players of the MMO to look forward to what happens next. Given that it's an MMORPG, you're also creating your own avatar, hence the utter lack of dialogue at all from the regular-looking dude in the trailers-because he's meant to be a stand-in for the Warrior of Light that you create. FFXVI (16) on the other hand-while made by the same producer and narrative team as 14-is a lot closer to what a numbered Final Fantasy title should be. It's a one-shot, single-player RPG experience as opposed to an MMO. So these trailers basically frontload the lore so it can sell it to you as much as it can, because it's not an MMO. It's not an ongoing live service game that has a subscription model and expansions to sell. If they don't manage to sell you on it because you lack that feeling of immersion and desire to dip your toes in the world, then that's it-either you don't buy it to play it when it comes out, or it'll be after all the hype is gone. In comparison to Final Fantasy XIV, you're playing the role of an established protagonist as you would in a typical character-driven RPG with their own backstory and such. In short, both are Final Fantasy, but the marketing is absolutely different for the reasons stated above

You only build your own character in FF14 because it's an Online RPG, like The Old Republic. Usually you play as a specific character, or control a party of characters.

So... one of the most common elements of FF is the use of 'Crystals' and the team that made 14, worked on 16. The director for 14 was the producer for 16 and he got the position as producer for 16 because of the success he had with 14 and turning that game around and making it successful after it was an outright failure under its original development team. Prior to 16, Final Fantasy had a long run of games in the series having a very modern/futuristic steampunk aesthetic when it started out as your standard High Fantasy/Sword & Sorcery aesthetic. So, the producer made the decision to sort of return to the roots and went with a very heavy western fantasy Game of Thrones inspired setting and story. Prior to 16 the brand had an almost PG feel to it, but with 16 they went in a very R-Rated direction. So there is blood, sex, alcohol, adult themes and language. Something that the series had been teasing in other installment but never actually went all in on until 16. Which is why its being considered a savior of the franchise for the single-player story based games.

I loved FFXVI so much it was such an epic game and the main character is so BADASS. The last trailer you reacted to was my favorite out of them all, I think it was called "ascension" which was the launch trailer revealed at their event a couple weeks before release.

Each installments of the FF series is completely its own story with its own characters and world, but they are very loosely connected with similar themes, creatures, and elements. FF14 & 11 are really the only games mainline games in the series where you create your own character because they're MMOs. If you really enjoy spectacular story driven games i highly recommend playing them!

You should react to the trailers for Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Remake focuses on the first couple of hours of the original game and is Part 1 or a three part trilogy. Rebirth is part 2 and is due to be released early in 2024. There are two trailers for that game so far. There's also a trailer for the Remake DLC.

To help your understanding of how FF works as a franchise, I think understanding that it was based on D&D would help a ton. D&D is not necessarily a single game, instead a collection of systems that makes up a rule of how you play the game. However, every campaign is different and literally anything and everything can be changed from one person's campaign to another, from lore, world, characters to even how the game works. FF is similar in that every game is its own "campaign", with a completely unique setting, lore and characters that really only shares some concepts or creatures, like crystals and chocobos.

While most of the setup is handled in the intro (which might still be completely available in the demo still), there are elements of those events which remain ambiguous until later in the game. So the only thing I'll clarify here is that Clive is absolutely loyal to Joshua. You saw there's an element of revenge to the story, but it absolutely is not aimed at Joshua.

FF16 was made by the same team that made FF14. The team took in a bunch of inspiration from Game of Thrones for this entry, and it def shows when playing the game itself. The main character you play as is named Clive Rosfield and not a character you would customize yourself in a character creator. The giant monsters you see are staples in every FF, usually in the form of summons. However in this iteration there are people called Dominants who embody those summons and can transform into them. There is: Pheonix, eikon of rebirth Ifrit, eikon of fire Bahamut, eikon of light Shiva, eikon of ice Titan, eikon of earth Ramah, eikon of lightning Garuda, eikon of wind Odin, eikon of darkness There are other ones as well but they are not featured in this iteration of the story.

Going forward, it would be good to know that: only 2/16 of these games have character creation (both online MMORPGs) and that each numbered game is unconnected from the other.

Final Fantasy, other than the MMOs is not "create your own character" at all. There may be segments with that, but most FFs are very linear with character development

dont take me wrong, i love videogames, finished over 200 ps 2 games, over 300 hundred xbox 360 games and dozens for last gen consoles.BUT ALL CINEMATIC TRAILERS ???what does that even mean, so dumb
