Geckos viewpoint is actually a common advice for mothers called the ‘Good Enough’ mother. You cannot be perfect! You are human! But you Have to take care of that baby. It is your Job now and you gotta live with it or you will FUCK THAT KID UP. So make your peace with it.

"So we've gone from blaming his mother to blaming his father" No , right from the start the show has made it clear that both of bojacks parents were awful

PCs resolution in the 2nd ep is actually a refreshingly realistic one. We tend to frame parenthood (motherhood specifically) in media as something so idealistic when the hard reality is that its WORK first and foremost. It can be rewarding and fufilling but you shouldnt go into it expecting that out of it. PC thrives most at her job so her reframing it as another project she has to work at and commit to is probably the best way to handle it in the long run.

I never had kids, but I heard this is a common problem (the mom thinking she's not feeling the "correct" amount of love towards the baby and that fact causing anxiety and stuff). I think being a good mom out of obligation sometimes is realistic. Especially PC, she's a pro, framing it like a job may help her. Better than constantly doubting yourself over not feeling love 24/7 for the objectively terrible thing that is a baby.

Especially when society conditions women into thinking a baby is the secret to true love, when a mother doesn't feel that of course she'll feel bad or broken. But yeah it's hard to feel love when you are working literally 24/7 with a job in the day and a baby at night.

28:18 Not even close. The worst thing would’ve been saying what Butterscotch said to Beatrice: “You wanted that baby. Don’t you ever forget that” What Gecko says to PC actually helps her being honest about how she feels. A mother won’t love/be happy about her baby 100% of the time. Nobody loves anybody all the time. Accepting that is way healthier than feeling guilty because you’re not perfect at it.

I think Princess Carolyn had convinced herself that the pride for her work meant she loved her projects, and having a baby would have filled her live with this fantastical feeling of being a mother over everything. Because of having to handle so many things at once, the job, the baby, the feelings of not being a good mother or feeling those supposed feelings, she could not relax and be in the moment until Vanessa gave her that moment to talk about all of which was in her mind.

at the end of the first episode when we see bojack really young drinking, that probably still wasnt the first time he drank because he seemed used to it

I can imagine Beatrice being the type to rub alcohol on his gums when he was teething, especially since that was something people thought would work to soothe the pain. Or giving him a bit alchol to make him fall asleep

I love that Princess Carolyn named her daughter Ruthie, because parenthood is a ruthless job, sometimes it can be glamorised but it’s such an important job. And it’s a callback to S4 where her great great great granddaughter was called Ruthie, showing she did get her happy ending after all

Let's go, last season! This actually wasn't supposed to be the last season, but they were cancelled by Netflix (Because the company who doesthe animation unionized). Netflix just gave them a heads up that this was their finale season, so they had a chance to wrap it up as best they could.

@@quinintheclouds Well, they did their best, and yes the show remains great, but I do feel like a lot of the second half of this season feels quite rushed. Especially for the 4 secondary characters, their development seems rushed this season compared to Bojack...

I personally see the image burning as Bojack repressing these memories, he said it at the start "no one put a gun to my head and said drink bub" but yes, he was in fact influenced pretty hardly (also for clarification, he was clearly trying to mimic his parent who always seemed less miserable while drinking, because i know its weird he just goes for the vodka at that age, but eh hes a horse he can take it i guess 😂). Also finally hearing that story of what he said to the cops, its gonna come back and hit hard.. and to also know he was the one responsible for the first time Sarah Lyn drank, thats too much man.. also for the second one, i think Gecko gave her the best advice but for her, shes never been able to see beyond her career and is such an accomplishment driven person that i think she needs to see it like it in some way, i get your point but i think its normal for her to be this lost right now especially since she cant just rely on a "natural" bond since she adopted wich she made the choice but knowing how much she wanted to try to make it, i think it might still be in her head. Also i just love the Gecko reveal, and actually i think it holds cause every remark she would made was ambiguous and felt snarky but only because we knew they "hated each other" lol. Man im just so excited for the end of the season, just like you how was so clueless how it could end and i really hope youll enjoy it even if for me it took me like a second rewatch the next day to really love it haha, great video as always by the way man 👌😁

Hey Ever, love these Bojack reactions, feel bad that they're coming to an end. In the next batch, the surprise party, is one of my favorite episodes of any show ever. Not sure how you will react, but most people tend to have a total extreme love it or hate it reaction, so we will see. Anyway, yeah, the more we see of Bojack's past, the worse it gets. Glad to be taking the Season Six journey with you. P.S., Looking good with the haircut, although I would have gone shorter on top, but that's just me.

It might sound really callous is you’re not a parent or you haven’t been around young children a lot, but when you have, it makes a whole lot of sense. It’s not about not loving the child, but it’s about parenting being a job and a responsibility.

i find it somewhat of a shame princess carolyn only gets a baby in the final season, bc it means the storyline is less developed. vanessa gekko's advice does sound odd, maybe even bad were it directed at anyone else, but i think the very, *very* first thing pc needs to learn is parenting isn't always rewarding the same way work is. it's gekko's way of telling her not to give up if her usual work methods don't get her anywhere. work ≠ love, which is hard to understand when your entire life is work. pc doesn't start to feel rewarded/"good" about parenthood until she bonds with ruthie over tongue twisters could've been better developed, but i'm glad it worked out in the end

Who ordered a microwaved baby? Anyone? Well I have a microwaved baby... Hmm. Better not let it go to waste. I now KNOW for certain I will end up in hell after that comment, and I feel really bad, but I'm also mildly amused. I'm a sick person, probably why I love this show. DO NOT MICROWAVE BABIES!!!

I personally am not a fan of the stars symbolism in the bottle. I get that it’s a cutout from the scene where Sarah Lynn died and it’s supposed to represent that as a reminder, but it clashes with the fact that I’ve always associated stars with a sense of wonder, and seeing it on an Alcohol bottle is just incredibly debasing to that feeling and I’m just like “ick!”
@patravanhorn7271
@patravanhorn7271 2 ай бұрын
i mean… yeah. the stars in the bottle definitely have a surface level sense of wonder to them, i think that’s the point. it’s beautiful and eye-catching, and the visual attracts the eye of the viewer in the same way that the alcohol attracts bojack. it pulls him in. and at the same time, bojack (and the viewer) can’t see that beauty without being reminded of the pain that has come with it. pretty sick visual imo, but i get what you’re saying

I don't think you have the right view of PC's situation. PC wants the child and still wants her. Just because she is stressed from it doesn't mean she regrets her choice. It also isn't fair to say she should just quit her job or give the baby away. There are plenty of single parents that work and take care of kids. Her job gives her purpose, it is also the reason she would never have been happy long term with Ralph, because he views work as a hobby due to how rich he is. This showed a realistic experience of parenthood, it isn't all fun and games and it is a lot of work.
