@@KadeForever sure but as parcells says, availability is the best ability. Finland was without Markkanen, Juancho didnt suit up for Spain so a lot of teams can say the same. The Bahamas can build from here. But what the Bahamas needs is non-NBA/NCAA depth, because to build the program you need to really do well in the Americup and other qualifiers. Thats how you get reps and better chances to the olympics. Those qualifiers are during NBA and NCAA season. Being so small makes the margin for error even slimmer. Demarco is building up that database of players so he's doing it the right way.

It was pots and draws. They also decided each OQT could only have a max of 3 European teams, 1 Asian or Oceanian team and 1 African team. Then groups could only have a max of 2 Euros and 1 Americas. TLDR: Seeding

Born bred and raised. Head of Operations LJ is Bahamian. Where did you get your info from? The only point here correct is that HC Demarco is not a Bahamian. I dont even see why this matters with regards to the outcome of the game. Of the 12 teams in the Olympics half have foreign coaches, Spain's HC is Italian. Germany HC is Canadian, Canada HC is Spanish, Brazil HC is Croatian, Japan and S. Sudan HC is American. If you watch FIBA games, you'd even notice many coaches are speaking to the players in English, because they arent native speakers of the local language. These countries have huge pools, millions of people and still hired foreign coaches. Why? Very few people in the world have tons of experience coaching top level professional basketball year round. Demarco came up through a Warriors organization as a video lead, scout, player development lead and now asst. coach and have coached against some of the players in FIBA. If that experience isnt valuable I dont know what is.

Spain is deep 1-12 in experience, game plan, execution and skillset for FIBA ball, add in home field and thats the breaks. Its not a negative against the boys in aqua but Fiba ball is diff esp againt European teams where its all about ball movement, and execution. I think The Bahamas met a team that had an answer for its strengths and weaknesses. The other teams were too weak inside, or could not shoot to make the Bahamas pay for not rotating. Spain does both. They can bang in the post, they can shoot from the 3. Spain is deep and too experienced for you to make mistakes. FIBA World Cup showed the US for example that you need to really play tight ball to win at FIBA.
