I agree with branded being a “good deck” to play, however the expulsion card is a way for the deck to summon things like Gimmick Puppet Nightmare to your opponents field to stop them from doing things, in a way that those cards weren’t designed for, so it’s a problem card, not a problem deck.

While I love drawing Stein and getting a free Exterio, the card has always been ban-worthy ever since Cyber Twin Dragon was released and there's no reason they ever should have unbanned it since power creep makes the targets ever stronger over time. The synergy it had with Spright especially back when Elf was legal was also way too strong, yeah cheating it out with Gigantic would mean you couldn't use it right then and there, but it let you make Elf which could then bring it back next turn to make Exterio, which pretty much guaranteed your win if your opponent couldn't stop that. The card should never be legal again, I don't care if another fusion archetype as busted as Tear comes out and makes it seem too slow, it's like Verte in that it gets you access to broken fusion monsters you otherwise wouldn't be putting in your deck, just less consistently.

Expulsion was likely banned because of the lockdown shenanigans everyone would use it for with stuff like Ra’s disciple and Edo or whatever that monster’s name is

@@shadexvii3975 the new fusion has way more levels of interaction, it's not as free, expulsion summons banished cards and ghost belle can't negate it, albion can be impermed, belle'd, ghost mourner, d.d. crow, bystials, called by, there are more ways to prevent the puppet luck through the fusion, so it does the same thing, but has way more levels of interaction

@@drewbabe master duel is also currently in a tear zero format right now. in the weeks leading up to tear coming out, spyral was getting a good amount of results in tournaments like mbt's mcs. Definitely was rogue before tear came out though

@@drewbabe Because the average MD player doesn't have the mental capacity to play a deck as complex as spyral. They're actually crazy powerful and consistent still. Like, look at all the best decks in MD history. Herald, Runick, Eldlich, Branded but everyone does the exact same combo into Chimera, Swordsoul. Spyral are a super varied and complex deck in a game where the average player gets upset when they need to know more than 2 combo strings.

This list is confusing. Some hits make sense, but others are weird. I will say this much though. At least Konami is more open to hitting more recent strategies, with the SHS hit and the Purrely hit.

Just so I understand, what hits didn’t make sense to you? But I think the Scarecrow hit was needed because of synergy with Soulpiercer, Soulpiercer gives too much searching through 1 card, and scarecrow being link 1 makes it too easy, if it was a link 2 I’d say it could stay

@@ragnaricstudios5888 gamma entirely makes very little sense And the unicorn hit makes sense why it happened, but it going to 2 specifically doesn't make sense since it ultimately doesn't do that much to hit the deck. Kash is still playing 5 copies of unicorn, and if they really wanted to, they could add 3 small world to play effectively 8 unicorn.

@@steeveedragoon I think Gamma was to hit Punk Pride, cause it could be summoned with E-Tele if you used it already, so limiting it makes it used only as intended, but yeah, Unicorn should have been limited, it’s way too annoying and easy to banish a monster from the ED, especially with how the field can search him too

Expulsion was hit because theyd summon either ra's disciple or the gimmick puppet floodgate to your opponents field. And if they summoned from the banish pile there was nothing you could do because ghost belle cant stop banish pile interactions.

11:09 I've been trying to do that, that's basically pretty neat way to get Nine pillars and usual Swordsoul end board with two card combo (Mo Ye and any LV 1 tuner like Adhara). 1) Summon tuner and use effect of Mo Ye 2) Sync Denglong, search Nine pillars 3) Effect of Denglong, dump Ashuna 4) Ashuna eff, special LV 4 tenyi 5) Sync Chixiao using Mo Ye token and tenyi, search Long Yuan and summon Swordsoul synchro with LV 10 or search trap. I've also been teorizing about summoning Deng long to the EMZ, link off for Gravity Controller and special Yang Zing from deck but haven't found anything worth putting extra garnet to the deck but maybe someone will find a good way to use it like that.

In the OCG, Engage has already been at 2 and Multirole at 3, so I guess they are just making the TCG follow suit. Unicorn, Fenrir, and Wraitsoth are all at 1 copy in the OCG, so it's interesting that they only put Unicorn to 2, and leaving the other two at 3 while hitting Arise-Heart instead.

Gamma is critical this format, if you are able to resolve it during you turn you can make omega and loop a card or make Stardust Accel Synchro to Synchro climb into Baronne. Plus some decks can afford an Extra Deck space to make lambda

Also the best and most consistently topping Spright variant (Melffy Spright) used Gamma as both an extender with E-Tele and a Handtrap. Now that it's limited, that variant is basically dead. Gamma, Driver, and Tele were 7 main deck slots.

@@OsirusHandle Overall Spright as a deck is fine, but Melffy Spright specifically is down **seven maindeck slots**. The Melffy Variant is now a lot worse, definitely not in contention for even Top 3 Spright Variants. I’d personally say it’s basically unplayable in a competitive sense in the way it was built before, but still.

@@johnsmovies287 the melffy component didnt use the gammas though, those were just extenders. One of sprights problems was if you nuked the normal summon and they didnt have starter they couldnt summon their hand, all e tele did was give them a body. There are a dozen other cards that do this, runicks, trickstar lightstage, opening of the gates, etc. Gamma was just a good handtrap so you are actually just losing 3 e-tele. The gamma package was the best since you could also summon ghost ogre as a disruption. Forest was made off the beavers off sprind then you just add catty, so it doesnt change.

As somebody who loved mathmech since they came out: yeah circular DEFINITELY needed a hit. I think limit was the right way to go, and I'm glad they didn't hit anything else in the deck because to be honest there's not really much else worth hitting. Time to go back to my infernoble six sam ftk deck!

I really respect the deck; it is pretty cool as far as most meta decks go, but I also feel Joshua Schmidt was kinda right; Circular just does a bit too much, and it can leave you feeling a bit sour if they just have it just every time.

Denglong is definitely interesting, and Swordsoul _can_ make it with the right hand, mainly it would be Moye/Taia + Adhara (either drawn or specialed off of Ashuna in grave)

Gamma is limited in the OCG. Gamma was seeing a lot of play in the current format, so that was probably why it was hit. A lot of people called it necessary. Gamma is Semi-Limited only in Master Duel.

I think it's more because Gamma represents 2 potential negates now. You negate a card with Gamma, then you synch it with Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon which re-summons Gamma and then you make Baronne.

Even though I may not play yugioh anymore these days and focusing more on magic at the moment. I still love my cimo yugioh content especially the ban lists to keep in contact of the new formats in case, I come back to yugioh someday. Love the content cimo. 6-7 years of my playing in yugioh. I used to rock both a six samuri and E-hero deck as well as a crystal beast deck. I am tempted on re-creating my og trio decks down the road but not sure how often they get support or updated cards.

Branded Explusion is actually a very good card if you run cards with branded engine that’s lights or darks. You use Explusion for special summoning back monsters from your graveyard to the opponent field that locks them off of special summoning or summoning in general. There is one card that all above locks both on your opponent field including spell/traps so it was kinda a long time till hit.

The expulsion ban is purely because of all the cards that exist like iblee to lock your opponent out of summoning/special summoning. Rather than banning all those cards, they chose to just ban the easiest way to get one of those cards onto your opponents field.

@@jetzul712 There is quite a lot card which can do similar trick to stop summons, guess its quite different. Even though branded can still do similar thing with the new fusion, it can be stopped by a lot more cards, so its quite reasonable for the ban.

They can still do it, it’s a bit easier to prevent, but it can be done. Sanctifire released in Cyberstorm Access and reads: “During your opponent's turn (Quick Effect): You can target 2 monsters in any GY(s); Special Summon both monsters, 1 to each field.” So they can 100% still Gimmick Puppet. It’s not as easy, but they can do it.

idk if I call it healthy, but a far MORE fair use for Cyber Stein (and one I've been doing in my Lair Infernoid deck for years) is summoning it as a free Exterio, then tributing it for an Infernoid effect. Also, I'm fine with the Expulsion ban as it stops people using Ido as material to make Albion, then SSing it to your opponent's field.

Branded Expulsion got banned because players can lock the opponent from special summoning by summoning gimmick puppet nightmare on the opponent's side of the field on their turn.

@@sablonanime650 It's a little harder to work into the bigger branded combos but I wouldn't call it less consistent, Aluber plus Blazing Cartesia still equals the puppet lock. It is a little more fragile though because the Albion Fusion can only summon monsters from the Graveyard whereas Expulsion can summon from the Banished pile as well. Also Albion is a monster instead of a trap so stuff like Imperm or Droplets work now. That being said, it requires one less brick.

Expolsion Lock might be being ran in events, they probably saw that including with Gamma easy negate 1 Handtrap + Barrone access so they hit both cards. Circular was too consistent in Mathmech decks so they probably tried to slow down the consistency lf the deck.

Spot on. I think Gamma has evolved over time to become a WAY better card than was initially intended. Was a semi-generic hand trap, is now a very generic hand trap that can provide 2 bodies for all sorts of stuff, not even limited to baronne. I love the card but I get it.

Gamma is really odd in that it does have actual restrictions that matter (have to run a garnet, and it can only be used if you have an empty board), so it's _theoretically_ balanced; but at the same time, it's _not_ HOPT, not _soft_ OPT, it's not even _once per chain,_ and it doesn't discard/send/summon for cost so you can't even Call/Imperm it.

You can make Denglong in Swordsoul with Veiler/Adhara + Mo Ye/Taia/Sthana, but extra deck space is super tight. You really only have like 1-2 flex spots. Not sure if it's worth it, but it is an option.

Branded Expulsion had to get hit, due to how the card can summon out summon locks to the opponents field, like Gimmick Puppet Nightmare, Edo The Supreme Magical Force, Ra's Disciple, etc. Branded Expulsion can also just pick the banished pile, making cards like Called By The Grave, any Bystial Monster, D.D. Crow, and Ghost Belle And Haunted Mansion impossible to interact with.

As far as the Kash hits go: -Diablosis was expected. I personally would have also knock Shangilri-Ira down to 1 just to guarantee that there's no more 'lock all your zones' nonsense, but this at least is a start. -Arise-heart to 1 will do nothing. -Unicorn should have been limited.

@Awesome Tubing94 still the only deck in the room that can play through nibiru. We got chaos angel, all the bystials. We have access to the new stardust line still. Savage still exists, and I can still get to my rokkets. It was already in the top 10 decks, every other deck that was a threat got hit. You've clearly never played against the current builds. Going second, already said chaos angel, borrelsword, borrelend, even accesscode. You think 1 veiler can stop me. You need way more

Number 89 was a cool card that was barely used prior to Kashtira. I hate scapegoat hits like that. Kash didn't even get hit as hard as SHS & Naturia! If anything, they made the deck better by killing the main competition

Diablosis was absolutely a problem card though, it was the thing that actually enabled the 9 zone lock, it just let you rip your opponent’s best card from their extra which also could give you the knowledge of what they’re playing game 1, and it had the ability to banish like half of the opponent’s main deck face down by the time their turn started, it absolutely had to go for the health of a game.

shs itself is just a spam synchro deck with a decent link and a good defensive niche, with very few negates. heck a lot of them even lock you into SHS for the turn. it *used* to be the essence of a fun deck because of its gimmick. personally i blame the technicians that try to do every conceivable combo with every engine in the game for exploiting effects beyond their original purpose.

The banlist is fine, but the timing of it is simply atrocious. There’s multiple big events coming up (like one of the biggest YCS’ in Europe), and they decided to release a new banlist a single week prior to that while they kept delaying the banlist before for whatever reason. The only reason I can imagine a banlist taking this long aside from laziness is that there are currently quite a few meta viable decks. So possibly it was a bit of a pain to figure out what to hit without killing a deck when other decks are kind of keeping each other in check. Or at least that’s what I’m going with to try and not be negative about the massive delay 😅 Side note pretty sure every format is hated. Unless you like the meta decks it seems like the answer is “the format is bad because…” The only time I feel like I hear people talk about loving a format is if they play some historic format because they love that time frame.

That superheavy Samurai card ban is because of the FTK combo. Thank to FTK combo it been hit in banlist. Branded expulsion ban because of lock with gimmicks puppet, or ido in OCG, make opponent cannot summon monster at all and this already happen in MD.

Well, I find that in the TCG it always comes down to the same thing - spamming a series of monsters that can stop anything. And after 6 minutes, it's your turn to find that you've been subjected to 4 negations. This is why I love Maxx C - this constant spamming has become so boring, with Maxx C you really have to think what comes next. As if the Card is a problem with all the hand/traps out there....
