‪@MercedesBenzVansUK‬ invited me to drive the New eSprinter and it was easy to see why! It was/is a serious upgrade! 277 Miles official range, Rear Wheel Drive, proper equipment in the cab - like button on the steering wheel and an excellent infotainment. Faster Charging and a 1t payload AND Towing make this (again FINALLY) a must view Van if you like em big! One thing to watch though is the 4.25t weight catagory - Make sure you know your stuff on that before diving in!

This is a big van with only 1tonne payload,I’d like to see a range test with a full payload and see what the actual range will be👍

We had a year 2000 diesel Sprinter. We loved it. North Carolina in the house.😊

Nice to have North Carolina in the house! Not had the pleasure yet! I remember the 2000 Sprinter it was a great diesel van! Hence the shock of the first electric one! Bearing in mind I drove an electric version of the 2000 diesel in 2004!! At least they have caught up now!

Most service crew vans are loaded with tools on day one and stay that way for the duration of, one ton rating is not enough for that not to mention the range when loaded and lights wipers and heaters on ! Stick a mini digger on a trailer behind it and you’re going to be in trouble.

Payload usually includes the crew, so assuming it's a 3 seater, that would be only around 750 kg of cargo in 14m3. Great for delivering inflated birthday ballons or expanded polystyrene, maybe, but what else in logistics can be 50kg per m3 when enthusiastically filling available space in a large van ? If the weight limit is license related then there is a need to restore the old 7.5T car license rating.

You are correct The total payload is 1075 kg. So realistically with a crew of three, you would be around 800. That said most logistics operations are one or max two and operations giving a little more. Also, most logistics operations would consider going for the smaller battery to increase the payload. It’s about making sure you have exactly the right configuration for your operation.

Looks like a great van, but does it support V2L like the eTransit so that you can have power on site or to power house loads if converted to a campervan?

That’s an excellent question! I will check k and come back to you. I am sure something was mentioned but I can’t clearly recall. It is not as simple as the eTransit offer but there may be an ePTO available

Love the idea, but being over 3.5 tonnes makes it a big NO from me. No mention of price

There is an allowance from the UK government to run a 4.25 ton van as though it were a 3.5 ton van. That said there are some caveats as outlined in the video. In terms of price, it is a jump and at the time of recording I didn’t have the info . Price from £58740. The one I drove starts at £74,230

Why oh Why has this E Sprinter got such a good range of 277 mile range yet the EQV has a rubbish range of 220 miles. Come on Mercedes.

In short, battery size and physical capacity to house said battery. EQV is still class leading in its segment though

Only carries 1.0 tonnes? And weight rated 4.25 tonnes? My current sprinter carries 1.4 tonnes and does most of the time. To be any good it needs to be rated a 5.0 tonnes and hopefully carry 1.5 tonnes

John it is certainly a concern… although I am not sure which Sprinter you are running because it’s a long time since they carried 1.4t. Hopefully over time these vehicles will get lighter. That certainly won’t be the case with diesel having to meet ever more stringent requirements

@@electricvanman I just said 1400kg I didn’t have the actual number, currently I’m in a 2019 316 and due for a change - normally when I go over a weigh bridge (being so close to overloaded I do it quite often) I’m between 3.0t & 3.4t your electric van not up to my job. I’m concerned, the government intends to outlaw diesel and there is no viable alternative. The range is also pants. As it stands with an electric van, I’d have to charge over night to start with a full battery. Then stop to charge during the day, time I don’t have. I’d have to do less work, therefore make less money and couldn’t afford the van QED.

@@johnsewell9332 so prob about 1100 kgs payload. If you went for the 81kwh battery you would have more payload than you have today but you would want to have enough range to cover your days duties - how many miles a day do you do?

@@electricvanman I actually have the L2 high roof with towing option (we won’t discuss what towing does to range) 7000 kg GVW payload approx 1200kg. no typical day regarding mileage however mostly in the range 100 to 200 miles per day. I understand for battery protection only charge to 80% and discharge to 20%. PS I live and work on the England Scotland border very limited charging options. I just don’t see these vans at the moment as a viable for me, we are talking about my livelihood here.
