Ten was very involved with the whole concept for both "Paint Me Naked" and "Birthday." Everything to do with "Paint Me Naked" he had a hand in creating. He was consulted on the sound and style of the song -- which is pop-rock/EDM -- was the one to design and choose his outfits, he was involved in the MV concept and design, and he helped choreograph the dance. This project was 100% Ten inspired. Ten is well known for his drawing and design work -- several of his tattoos, which are all real, are designs he created. Not only is he talented in the art of music and dance -- he is a main dancer (one of the best dancers in the industry), lead vocalist and one of the centers of NCT -- but he is also talented in all forms of art. So, the painting part and art work references in "Paint Me Naked" are a nod to his passion for art. If you want to know more about his "Paint Me Naked" song and MV, check out an interview Ten did on Dive Studios' Get Real podcast, which is a video on Dive Studios' KZfaq Channel, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/asp_Y6R7zb6yeWg.html. Dive Studios, which is a PodCast KZfaq channel, is like a Kpop radio station with podcasts hosted by Kpop Idols from all different generations who are all foreign idols, so the whole channel is programs hosted in English and geared toward an international audience. Fun fact: Ten is a member of WayV, the Chinese sub-unit of NCT, and he was a dance mentor and judge on a Chinese dance competition show Great Dance Crew for several months in China last year, which is where "Birthday" and a short version of this dance was first performed a little more than 6 months before this MV was released. The dance for "Birthday" also was, at least in part, choreographed by him. Ten is often the one that creates or modifies the most memorable and dynamic parts of NCT/WayV's dances that he is a part of. Therefore, it wouldn't surprise me if it was Ten who came up with or modified that tightrope jump move to create what you see in the MV. Most choreographers say they present Ten with choreography and then he changes it and makes it even better. He is a very skilled choreographer as well, which he has shown off in several self-choreographed performances on NCT's KZfaq channels and as a member of SuperM, etc. (SuperM is literally a group of the best dancers, singers, rappers and performers from SM's most popular boy groups. Which I think explains a little of Ten's skill level.) To see just how skilled of a dancer Ten is, you really need to see his "Birthday" dance practice as well. And while you're at it, if you check out his 'Birthday' dance practice behind the scenes video, his behind the scenes of his MV shoot and the behind the scenes of recording the song, you can see just how involved he was with this whole project. Ten actually competed in B-boy competitions when he was younger, so, as you can see, he incorporated a lot of B-boy moves in his "Birthday" choreography. You can hear him talk about it in his behind the scenes videos and in interviews he has done for this project. Ten is actually known for being one of the most flexible male idols in the Kpop industry, and there are even compilation videos showing Ten flexing his flexibility, and fellow NCT/WayV member WinWin and Ten competing to see who is more flexible, etc. (WinWin has trained in traditional Chinese dance since he was young and is super flexible as well.) I also recommend checking out an interview he did with BoA, who is a senior solo artist also under SM that is known for her dancing, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gp50aJiekqy4g6s.html. This will give you insight into just how respected and talented he really is. As you can see, all of Ten's solo songs -- "Dream in a Dream," "New Heroes," "Paint Me Naked" and "Birthday" -- are in English because Ten is fluent in English. He grew up attending an international school in Thailand run by British educators, so he spoke English in school. He is native Thai, however, he is fluent in at least 4 languages -- Thai, English, Korean and Mandarin, and he is currently learning Japanese. Because Ten is a member of WayV, this is one of the reasons why his songs are in English. Due to all the political issues between China and Korea, by producing songs in English, among other things, this helps him avoid any conflict with the Chinese government or being seen as a Korean idol, if and when WayV is ever able to get back to promoting in China. Right now, Korean companies are not allowed to do business in China and any mainland Chinese citizens are restricted from doing business with or working in Korea, which is why WayV has to maintain a separate presence even though they are part of NCT. Plus, English is one of the languages he is most comfortable in and it helps him connect with a wider international audience, etc. Ten first debuted as an original member of NCT-U in 2016 with their "The 7th Sense" MV, as a main dancer and a rapper, but by virtue of the fact that he is an SM Entertainment artist, it shouldn't be a surprise that he is also an outstanding vocalist. LOL. That's just what SM artists are known for. That's why SM is the vocal powerhouse of the industry because everyone under SM has superior singing abilities. Ten is the NCT member with the most solo projects because he is one of SM's and the industry's top dancers and he is an amazing singer and performer, so SM likes to showcase all his impressive skills. Ten is one of the most talented and skilled artists in Kpop. And yet, not enough people pay attention to him. Fun fact: NCT's/SuperM's Mark Lee awarded Ten with the "Naked of the Year" award because, out of all the members of NCT, Ten is the one who most often doesn't wear a shirt or shows off his body. We have sort of come to expect that Ten won't have a shirt on or will be wearing something that barely covers his body. These days, it's actually more surprising when we don't see Ten's abs. LOL Ten actually said he wanted to paint his body for his "Paint Me Naked" MV, but SM said that was too racy, so they compromised and he wore the chain shirt instead. Which Ten says, and most would probably agree, he finds much more racy than paint would have been. LOL SM Station songs are special songs that are released by SM artists or collaboration songs that are done outside of the members group, etc. Solo performances that aren't associated with a member's group or are just special songs are often Station songs. Hence, why all of Ten's solo releases are Station songs, and not really part of NCT, even though I think some of the MVs still are connected to SM's SM Culture Universe storyline. :D NCT Lab is a special project that was started at the beginning of last year that allows NCT members to release special songs that highlight their individual skills and the members get a chance to put their own ideas and style into the project.

"Dream in a Dream" and "New Heroes" are the perfect examples of what makes Ten such a phenomenal dancer. Even though he looks like he must have been a trained ballet or contemporary dancer, really his dance training was in hip-hop and he was a gymnast when he was a kid. So Ten's dance style is really just pure talent. More recently he has taken a few ballet lessons and he is starting to become interested in contemporary dance, but he doesn't have a background in those styles. He is just really good at interpreting what he hears, sees and feels through the movement of dance. And even as a solo project, if you notice, everything he does is centered on NCT's dream concept. Even though Ten is Thai, he also has Chinese heritage. He was made a member of WayV -- which is the Chinese sub-unit of NCT -- because his grandparents are Chinese, so that is where you get his melding of cultures. Fun fact: The other guy you see wandering around in the background, who is sort of silhouetted in the "Dream in a Dream" MV, was Lucas -- fellow NCT-U, WayV and SuperM member. Lucas appeared as a special extra in Ten's MV even before he debuted. So at that point Lucas was still only considered a trainee. It was SM's way of preparing us for his introduction into NCT. Lucas debuted in 2018 in NCT-U's "Boss" MV. :D To really appreciate this performance, you should check out Ten's dance practice for "Dream in a Dream" The choreography is a little different in the dance practice than what you see in the MV because the dance practice is a special performance that was done for SM Station 2 years after they recorded the MV. However, if you want to see the choreography for the MV better, you can watch the original dance practice that was recorded at the same time as the MV. :D You should also check out Ten's dance practice for "New Heroes," kzfaq.info/get/bejne/etp_ZLeduLe0qJs.html. The dance practice choreography for "New Heroes" is different than what you see in the MV as well. In the MV, Ten's dance is mostly freestyle. However, in the dance practice it has been choreographed to use some of his original freestyle movements and adds in backup dancers and some choreographed elements. The dance practice is what he performed/performs at music shows and in concert. But the MV is all just Ten feeling the music and interpreting the song with his body. :D That is why Ten is NCT's main dancer and the one with the most solo projects, because he is such a great performer and he has such beautiful vocals, that SM has chosen to showcase his talents.

Surprise surprise Ten was involved in the styling for this mv like he was for Paint Me naked and he actually received this song the same time he did PMN but he said he wasn't feeling it at that time so he focused more on PMN which was something different for him because as you know NCT and especially WayV be making some hoe anthems 😂 so PMN was different but it was also who Ten felt like at that time well this young man felt like he was ready to put that sauce on Birthday and he did and he again got asked to be hands on with the styling as well as the set up for the mv and he delivered because Ten is art and he makes art out of anything he touches so here we have it.
