Hey all!
Tay here! This week, I asked Walker to sort through a bunch of footage I shot over the course of a few weeks, chronicling my journey of finishing my drift car JUST in time for a rad, low-key grassroots drift day held by my good friend Lyndsay Johnson at Shenandoah Speedway in Shenandoah, VA. I've owned this car for 6+ years and have been working on it on and off ever since. Throughout the course of this project, I bought a house, started a company, a pandemic happened, almost got married, the lot! Needless to say, ive been meaning to finish it for a while and thanks to the fellas over at @DriverMotorsports IT FINALLY RUNS RIGHT AND IT'S INSANE!
.
The car is a 1993 Nissan 240sx (s13) with a JDM imported 1JZ-GTE-VVTi engine originally from a JZX100 Toyota Chaser. Along with the engine swap, the car has completely custom suspension components from @PartsShopMAX and @isrperformance4903 . The engine is managed by a Link ECU, the turbo was rebuilt by Drift Motion, it has a R154 5 speed manual transmission, aluminum @mishimoto radiator and modified @cxracing intercooler setup. The fabrication work, including the tube front and 8 point FD spec roll cage was done by me in my garage at home...which is probably why the project took so long. It was built from the ground up to do only one thing, go sideways really really well!
.
For those that don't know what drifting is, this episode should help bring you up to speed. The easiest way ive found to explain it to people is its basically the automotive version of skateboarding. There's no "real" competition, the main point is to have as much fun as possible, stay as sideways as possible and make as much tire smoke as possible! Its the most fun thing ive ever done in my life...period. Ive met some of the coolest people doing this completely stupid but hellaciously addicting motorsport!
