The early spring has been followed by several waves of rain ending the drought but delaying spring planting. We're anxious to get rolling! #familyfarm, #springplanting, #oats, #newholland, #honey,

Good morning Dave and Dawn!

I know what you mean. When you start spinning it's usually too late. Plenty of interesting, and frustrating stuck stories. Thank you Dave.

Good to see the gulls. I remember them following the plow. We don't see that much down here.

They join us spring and fall😊

Well, at least you're making progress. It's been a difficult spring so far all across the East.

Thought for a minute that you were going to plant the tractor. 🤣 We live in the yellow clay hills here in northeast Iowa. When I started working on farms near here that are on the prairie, my Dad always told me this; You can plow right up next to the wet spots in the hills. On the prairie, if you can see water, you’re too close! 🤣

I can usually work through it a few feet each pass but I ran out of sun and wind.

There's an old saying, " Well plowed is half worked".

Yeah. Disking and bouncing isn’t as fun as plowing.

A set of duals help a lot! Doesn't look sticky, the disc blades aren't getting bigger. That's really breaking up nice!!!

I should have seeded. It rained an inch🙄

@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn oops.. and it takes a lot longer to dry disked ground than plowed ground. A field cultivator works best now..

@@GosselinFarmsEdGosselinyou are right. It’s still wet. Maybe Monday??

Looks a bit wet. Plant in the dust and the bins will bust. I never knew how bees were shipped. Seems like a good year for calving.

Seeded last night in serious dust😉. Postal carrier was freaked out by the bees.😂

You always have that big green workhorse sitting in the barn if you get stuck 😁. Still too wet to get on a field here yet. Hopefully we're done with drought and back to normal again..... Does Dawn just add a few bees to the honey bee herd every year? Thanks Dave.

All new bees this year. She lost all of last year’s bees during that cold snap.

As Marty Mone says in his song: "Hit the diff and pray" Those bees aren't angry. Just a little confused about their new house.

That NH is very light which helps it float. I carry a chain in case I spin out then unhitch and chain the disc out backwards. Done it too often.

How many bees are in a package that size? I dont know much about bees. . .
@Rollinghillsfarmsmn2 ай бұрын
About three thousand. We had hoped the hive would survive and this would be a second hive but the old hive winter killed.

Hey Dave, I am borrowing a desk just like that from a buddy. What model is that and are you able to get that disk level? I seem to have the front gangs diving down lower than the rear that crank handle on the tongue is all welded so I cut it off and I’m going to put a new bolt in
@Rollinghillsfarmsmn2 ай бұрын
Ray: Mine is a 1977 BW just under 14 ft wide. There is a vertical T handle screw adjustment on the front of the tongue and I make final adjustments in the field depending on soil conditions.
