Glad it worked for you. Been dealing with guns for over 50 years and it’s not the first time I had seen that issue. The sight may have a problem but you’ve got it running right now.

Great video. Absolutely love shooting a .410. Also enjoyed hearing the bob White quail whistling in the background. I’ve only heard or seen a quail twice in five years on our farm here in mid Tennessee

I have seen this same problem in the turkey hunting groups with this same sight on different shotguns. I also use bird shot to get it close then dial in the TSS loads.
@robertwiggins4584 Жыл бұрын
Glad you got it figured out! Recommendation for next time do most of your adjustments with lead (cheaper) then fine tune with TSS

Glad that you got it sighted in. I'm the type that doesn't like sending things back, but knowing me I'd throw that sight as far as I could and buy myself a new one. lol. You shouldn't have to shim an adjustable sight so that sight has to be bad. I bought a new scope for my new 300 Win Mag, laser-sighted it in, and every time I pulled the trigger it would knock the scope out of sight. And after going through 2 $50 boxes of shells trying to sight it in I took that scope off and threw it in the pond and ordered a different one. lol. I laser-sighted the new scope in and it was an inch low at 100-yards, I adjusted it up and shot again and it was dead on and it stayed dead on from then on.

When my Dad was doin something tedious he would have his tongue out and he would lightly chew on it. It looked hilarious but it always seemed to work. Then I would pat him on the head and say, "good boy." Then we would sit and giggle about it. (Great father and son moments)

When I mount red dots on my turkey guns, I dial it in with cheap lead shells at 8-10 yards. It should be a small hole that close. It might take several shots to achieve zero, no sense wasting hard earned money on tss at this point. Once I feel like they are dialed in, I give the barrel a quick cleaning and drop in the tss loads and check them at 20 yards, 30 yards and 40 yards. Sometimes tss loads shoot a tad higher than lead loads and I may have to make a final adjustment. Glad you got your 301 shooting good!

I'm still confused by you using such small shot. Around here, they use BB and bigger the last I knew. I also wondered about you buying a. 410, in my area, they are almost nonexistent when you try buying them. Glad you finally got it sighted in. Persistence pays off. Have a good day.
@billwhite70992 жыл бұрын
It's not regular bird shot like you're thinking. The T stands for tungsten and it's 22% lighter than lead. So it has more shot with a longer terminal velocity. I'm no expert but it's kinda like a .243 vs 30/30

You can buy a Delrin shim that fixes that. I had to do it for my Venom. About 10 beans, and mine works now.

You should invest in a bore sighter, because then you can see your dot move to your laser site from bore sighter. And it'll be a whole lot cheaper

Man if you could find a box of .410 slugs that would give you a better idea of your up/down dilemma. I heard that bobwhite in the background! Been a long time since I heard that. I’ve had scope rings and red dots lock up on adjustments. When I make adjustments I always thump the sight with my thumb.

You can take the rail off and give the good folks over at EGW for their red dot scope mount specifically designed for your RD sight. This will lower your height over bore and eliminate the need for shims. Don’t forget these shotguns are made in China and they are a budget gun. There is a solution to your problem.

I just ran 7 apex tss shells thru my 301, and it is still not zeroed in perfectly. It is the reflex sight that a click is not always just one click. Too expensive to shoot tss shells.

Please return that sight to Vortex! It is definitely not the gun with it being that consistent. Vortex has great customer service and will replace it. You should not have to go through that everytime you change ammo or chokes!!!!

@@HollisFarmsMS I usually site mine in with two people, one to hold the gun steady and the other to adjust the dot to the point of impact because of shell cost. But when it’s being adjusted you can see the dot moving up and down in the site. You ought to be able to look through yours and adjust the up and down and see if the dot moves

If the barrel was bent it would shoot in a circle, and it just might come back and hit you in in the back of the head!
@n2trkys18 Жыл бұрын
At first, I thought this was some kind of joke the way you were sighting it in. Then, I realized it was not a joke and just sad. I mounted and sighted in over a dozen of those sights and never did what you did. Sighting in a red dot is about the easiest thing to do. Shoot it at close range with cheap shells. Put the dot on your aiming point and adjust your dot to the center of the pattern(while looking through the sight). You watch the dot move, so you know if it’s moving or not. That should have taken about 3-4 shots total to fine tune to 40 yards. You’ll know what not to do next time. Good luck.
