Hi Michelle, i also have real trouble falling asleep. What really, really, really helps me is reading right before i sleep in bed with dim light. This is the best way for my brain to realx and not overthink everythink. Even though i am tired i ALWAYS read a few pages :) maybe this would help you fall asleep. Greetings from Austria, Tiziana

Also, it is MUCH easier to consistently fall asleep if you go to bed at the exact same time each night (within 10 minutes). It can be hard to be that disciplined, but it helps a lot.

It varies. I love my classroom, but I have no storage. 2 cabinets, that's all. One is full of math manipulatives, which I am grateful that we have; and the other holds mostly teacher manuals, professional development books, binders, etc. so I have no personal storage space or storage for student supplies. Had to get creative!

I LOVE your bulletin boards. The simpler the better in my opinion. As much as I love more detailed classroom themes, I can’t justify spending massive amounts of money on them. I won’t begin teaching for a few more years but I already love the black & white with pops of other colors. You’re not the only teacher who I’ve seen do it.

I would love to have you as my daughter's teacher!! As a mom I try to volunteer as much as I can, donate items since I know teachers pay for supplies out of their pockets. Plus I also love to randomly give them small thoughtful gifts as appreciation. Nothing like receiving an unexpected gift, am I right? I love your videos as it gives me an inside look from a teacher's POV. I really appreciate for teaching our future generations.

I struggle with going to bed late and needing to wake up early. My boyfriend stays awake and usually has the tv on. Listening to the tv helps me fall asleep quicker than just laying there with no noise. So maybe try falling asleep with the tv on set with a shut off timer. That way you don't have your tv on all night. Congratulations on the new classroom it looks amazing! Also I can't wait for your classroom tour! I'm not a teacher anymore but I love seeing your videos and your videos help me provide resources to teachers in need. Your so amazing and thank you for being you! 💜

Hi Michelle! I'm starting my 17th year of teaching this year. For the last 11 years I have taught 4th grade, and this year I switched to 2nd (my first 4 years of teaching were also spent in 2nd) But I feel like I'm brand new too, trying to learn all the new common core curriculum for 2nd grade, switch rooms, etc. It's been a rough start to the year, but the kids are super sweet. Wishing you luck in the beginning of your year. I really enjoy your videos! -Traci from Riverside, California

Yay! Mormon Temple at 30:35! We have that fridge in our department office - you might want to put something under each corner - just a thin piece of wood or something, because on ours last year the door started to dragged along the floor just barely enough that it did not always close completely without the person realizing, especially when we were in a hurry. One Monday morning I came in to find a puddle on the floor and the little freezer thingy coated with abt. 2 in. of ice.

I'm not a teacher & I'm not going to school to be one but I love your channel! I found your channel in my recommends which is weird because I don't watch any teacher channels, to be honest I didn't know they existed on here. The video that popped up was behavior problems from your old school. I honestly watched that & just cried for you. I was a child with behavioral issues in grade school, and I treated my teachers poorly. Now as an adult, I realized how I was as a kid & I feel horrible. I have respect & such appreciation for you guys because if it wasn't for you teachers I wouldn't be a straight A student in a university working on my Bachelors in Criminal Justice. You guys are very important in a child's life. And every teacher deserve soooo much more respect and appreciation. I adore your channel already & excited for you to start a new school. Wish you the best of the year. ❤️

Hi Michelle, You should get a planner. I would suggest either The Happy Planner, an Erin Condren or an Inkwell Press Planner. Each night, I am the same way as you, I will stay awake if I have a lot on my mind so I have learned to make a list of all the things that I am thinking about and then make a plan for just the next day of what I will accomplish based on what I am doing. (Note: I only make a plan for the next day not the whole week because it would stress me out knowing that I have a plan for the following day but didn't complete the plan for today so I then have to add today's plans to tomorrow which makes the plan unrealistic) This has helped me a lot. Hopefully this helps you too.

Michelle: I just spent the last week moving into a new school as well. (I am also teaching 4th grade!). I had been at my previous school for 14 years and, despite multiple purges since 2015, I still have a ridiculous amount of stuff! Unfortunately, I had to do the majority of the work alone, so my body is in a lot of pain this weekend. ☹️ Seeing you start the move in process reminded me of how anxious I was to get everything done. I had trouble sleeping as well. Like you, I love my room and my new team. I know you'll enjoy 4th grade, and I look forward to witnessing your journey ( and getting great ideas!)

Girl, you need the app 'buddhify' it's a meditation app which has changed my life at bed time. I'm a year 3 teacher in Australia and would spend hours tossing and turning before falling asleep, now i stick on a sleep meditation, they're all about 5-12 minutes long, and i very rarely make it to the end of them before falling asleep. Pocketful of Primary orange senses make you wake up more so doing it in orange juice is also lot going to work. I know it's not your go to but if you don't have other juices you could do water. Also I started school in the twntyfirst, when do you start, I'm a student by the way. I know your not eligible to teach middle school but do have any tips for homework???

Michelle I'm so happy for you! What helps me sleep is setting my sleep timer on Pandora and listening to yoga music. Try It! Also, I'm a first year teacher and lesson planning is kicking my butt. Any tips? Would love it if you could film a video on all your tips. Best of luck this year :)

Beautiful classroom! Billy is so sweet. I love my husband, but i don't think he's ever really helped me in my classroom. He came and sanded my desk for my so that I could repaint it, but that's it. :) What fun memories!

Lavander essential oil may help you fall asleep, you can put it on the bottom of your feet or get a diffuser and put it near your bed and it really does help!

Ms. Ferre. I have been watching your videos for a long time and your sleep schedule feels so much like mine. I have such a hard time sleeping and it's not because I'm not tired. It's because my mind runs a mile a minute. Especially when i don't have anything else to occupy it. I think about what part of my car needs to be repaired, what needs to be unpacked around the house, what dishes need to be done... And, lately, whether I'm prepared for my students the next morning or if my activity won't be engaging enough. And I'm only doing after school as I study for my cert! I also sometimes take sleep aids. Usually melatonin. But, even at a higher dosage, that usually only works for a couple of hours. What I've found works best for me is to try to run the plot of a favorite movie through my head. Like "Princess Bride" or "Starship Troopers." Or I imagine I have a superpower and I'm interviewing with doctor Xavier (X-men) and trying to explain it and what it can do. I know these are nerdy suggestions. But they work for me, and can maybe be expanded into something that can work for you? You need your sleep! So you can keep inspiring us. :) Thank you so much.

So exciting to finally see your classroom! 😊 Is it weird that I'm basically giddy at the thought of how organized you're going to make it? Haha. I love the new desk area and all the built-ins! I actually can't wait until next weekend for the new vlog! I know you're going to have everything looking amazing! Keep up the good work and good luck on the new school year! 😊

Those magnetic borders are just what I need! I've just been putting magnetic strips on my black w/ white polka dot borders, because that's the style of border I use throughout my classroom. I'm so glad you showed us yours! Now I don't have to use the semi-ugly polkadot magnetic borders I already have, and I can stick with my classroom theme! Yay!

I'm so nervous tbh but really excited to see how it is all gonna turn out. Also gonna see if I can spot huge differences in the classrooms to what yours in the States look like :)

We live in Japan and it's hard enough for me to go without Target but when you posted your Chic-fil-a meal I almost licked my computer screen! HA!!! Those are two of the things (besides loved ones) that I miss the most about the US...chic-fil-a and Target!!! Love your channel! I'm not a teacher (but both of my parents are) but I think it gives me a cool perspective as a parent of school age children to watch your vlogs. I have a 3rd grader and 7th grader (starting tomorrow EEK).

So excited for you! I totally changed the look of my classroom, introducing flexible seating, and I am only teaching math this year in first grade, I fell overwhelmed like you. However, we will get it done, we have too, God Bless you! I bought your alphabet and labels, they look so nice in my room! Love all of your TPT products!

Wow! That sounds amazing! That's crazy to me that you're only teaching math in first grade... does your school departmentalize for all grade levels? That should make your planning a lot easier though! Like you said... we get it done! There ain't nothing to it but to do it 😉 Thank you so much for your kind words about my products! I'm so happy you like them in your classroom 😍

I'm SO glad that you're back in the classroom! I mean, sorry about the end of summer :(, But, I'm SO glad that your back in the classroom! I just moved to a new school after almost 10 years and I wanted to totally haul my classroom decor, so since you weren't in your classroom yet, I had to use your older videos as inspiration and ideas. Totally ok, because they are so cute still. I mean, they were just months ago, but anyway I was DYING to see what you were going to do in your new classroom. So I'm SO glad that your back in the classroom!!!! Take care.

Hi Michelle, love your videos. I teach 5th grade math science and social studies! Do you have a bath tub in your new townhouse? Try getting into baths to calm yourself down. Even a basic one with some epsom salt and some bubbles. Or get into Lush products as a treat. Plus, I weight lift too and it helps my sore muscles.

I am usually not one to request other videos to watch, but I have had difficulty sleeping for awhile. I have tried sleep mediation videos and none of them have really worked, but then I came across TheHonestGuys- "Fall Asleep in Under 20 Minutes - Guided Sleep, Insomnia." I have literally been falling asleep immediately. I just thought it could be something to try and see if it works for you as well!
