Just a thought. Attach 2 inch wood pieces around the perimiter of the shelf facing down. Attach skirt pieces to each side with staples on the inside. Then use tension rod up under for skirt panel on front.

Just recently found your channel! You have such a beautiful home! This is such a genius DIY…its stunning!! ❤ On a side note…love the door! I have used Templeton Gray by BM in several spots in my home and it is a VERY similar blue/gray. It’s the perfect touch of color!

It’s so cute but I honestly think the fabric will get dirty quickly as people are putting trash behind the fabric. Can you get the fabric laminated so you can wash off stains etc???
