FINALLY! Nebraska Football Breakout Season is Here!

Күн бұрынMatt Rhule begins year two with his Nebraska Football team and the preseason hope is as high as ever. And for good reason. The Huskers will be the breakout team for the 2024 college football season in the Big Ten. Now, we are not claiming the Huskers will be in the Big Ten championship. But with a fan base that has been clamoring for a bowl game appearance since 2016 it feels like that wait will be over.
HOPE AT QB
Why all of the hope? First of all, Nebraska was probably the best 5-7 team in the country in 2023. And a lot of their stingy defense returns in 2024. Plus 5-star freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola has everyone's hopes pinned to his shoulders as he gets ready to take his first snaps under center at Memorial Stadium.

Speaking of Memorial Stadium, included in the future upgrades are plans to put in real grass on the playing surface. The Huskers have played on artificial turf at home since 1970. Secondary and Oline aren't there yet, but they have an easy schedule, which will help them get to 8 or 9 wins and get some real momentum going into next year.

It isn't ever going to happen. Nebraska isn't just average. They are horrible. There is one D1 team that hasn't been to a 6 win bowl since 2016 and it ain't Kansas. If they are lucky they might make the Pop Tart bowl by 2030.

@@beebers99This is crucial we need to give Dylan time to throw and protect him. The secondary is an issue as the only way teams are gonna move the ball on the huskers is through the air. Our pass rush needs to step up to help the secondary in my opinion. GBR !!!

There are a lot of huskers that got something to prove this year like Gabe Irvin Castaneda, Rahmir Johnson Cameron Lenhart in particular. The defense will be outstanding. Nobody’s gonna run on us consistently. The only way to move the ball against the Huskers will be through the air. That’s why our pass rush and our secondary has to be first rate. I sure wish Blythe Hill would not have gotten hurt. He’s probably the best at single man coverage in the secondary. Tommy Hill is no joke either. This defense has a chance to be elite if everyone improves and take that next step forward it will be elite ….

I think NE will be the breakout team of 2025, this is still a building year for them. Losses this season will be CO, OSU, USC, & WI. Next season they will make the playoffs.

I don’t know we lose a lot of leadership on defense and offense . In addition possibly our DC Tony White. 2023 , 2024 recruiting classes were top 25 rankings Coach Rhule will put young guys on the field if they’re ready to gain experience. That’s what I love about coach. If we can sign a Michael Terry or David Sanders in the 2025 class that would be sweet….GBR !!!

The most important game is the Illinois game. We HAVE to win that one. The young men should be riled up by that win. We will probably lose to Ohio puke, but we have beaten them before.

What games did you watch? They hardly ran an old-school Nebraska offense last year. What running done was basic power from the I-formation, some dives, and a few but limited options (No counter traps, no counter treys, few off tackle, no speed options, no TE pops, etc.). In fact, in one game, the only time they did well running the ball was with the option in the first half. In the second half they didn't do any option plays for some odd reason. Of course, lost the game. Much of the offense was poor passing (and bad routes). Interceptions and a QB who appeared to bet on the other team. Satterfield (O-Coordinator) doesn't seem to enjoy the run game. So when he does use it. He uses plays designed to get 1-3 yards. Almost so he can say the run is not worth doing. Satterfield would instead pass it. This is fine if he can put together working plays and have a quarterback who doesn't lose the ball. As well as learn to use pass plays where all the receivers DO NOT run 15+ yard routes.

@aodhhanswtor7252 What was missing last year were screen passes,more play action and draw plays . A solid running game will enhance this part of the offense.Dylan can make all the throws this is the difference from last year. I don’t expect Dylan to turn the ball over either.

HH is a backup. All I know HH better be ready if his number is called. Dylan can make all the throws all we gotta do is give him time to throw and protect him . We do that and the huskers will be on their way … Like Reggie Jackson said Dylan is the straw that stirs the drink…

The offense last year was old school because of injuries, they had to make due with what they had, which was an inexperienced qb and rb

That same defense went up against a shitty offensive line and still that ‘okay’ quarterback spanked them. It’s like pulling teeth to get you to say he’s a great quarterback.

Nebraska is not the ones who say this. The media does it every year around the time of the spring game, and then they give just enough reasons for Husker fans to buy into it by the time the season starts. It doesn't help that every year just on talent and on field abilities, they are usually right, but it's uncanny how bad their coaches and retention have been. Nebraska for 20 years has been a team with 10+ win talent and 3 win brains. Rhule's the best coach they were winning titles though so let's see what they do.

@@YoWhatGoesHere I don't know...I was at fish camp with a "boat" load of Nebraska fans just before Scott's first season. First of all...my experience with Nebraska fans is that they are really good people. This group of gentlemen told me that they would be beating Ohio State in short order. I suggested that they might want to beat Iowa and Wisconsin on a regular basis first. That said, I love the Nebraska coaching staff and am happy for their fans. I plan on making the road trip to Lincoln this Fall. Can't wait!

@@NEODOMINATION rutgers got great rush offense, power run. i didn't watch all their games but their oline dominated Miami off the ball in their bowl game. Schiano is a good defensive coach. They bring back alot from last season. So when you combine a defense minded team that has a good power run ball control type offense they are a "tough" team imo. They don't beat themselves. They are obviously way outmatched against the Ohio State, Oregon and Michigans of the Big 10. But the Wisconsin, Nebraska type teams they dont have the talent to just blow out Rutgers. They have more talent but Rutgers is a tough team for them, not a pushover.

@@leonticonderoga-h6i I think they can get back to a bowl game this year and that Rhule could be the guy to make the Huskers relevant again, but the overhyping is too much. If I were a fan I’d hate it at this point. It sets the bar too high and puts a target on your back and sets you up for constant ridicule. The media needs to tone it down.

How do you beat any team when you have no QB. That’s what Nebraska had. Shedure got sacked 8 times. And you got 1 5 star true freshman and a bunch of scrap out the portal on the line now. That has never played together. Shedure could get sacked 10 times this season.
