You can attach the Apothecary to any unit you can attach a Captain to, in addition to the Captain as well, so you can still have that 6 man squad, you'll just be paying some extra points for it

And in fairness, I quite enjoy the apothecary model we already have, and swapping out the arms for a different look is really simple. So there doesn’t seem to be a huge demand for a brand new apothecary

I started a project to reorganise my space marines into the UM second company based on the seventh ed SM codex the day before the Nova reveals and was thrilled to see a command squad and jump pack marines. I really do understand why some people dislike both Primaris and the Ultramarines but this has really inspired me

I kitbashed the old jump packs onto some assault intercessors, imo they look way better because they have much more movement to them, while the gw sculpts are just kinda floating while tilted forward

Wherever they discontinue good kits like that I always go and buy a bunch on eBay so I don't have to worry about their dodgy new monopose sculpts, or at the very least I use new kits I like to create my own.

I like to sprinkle some monopose kits in my multiparts, they tend to have different legs and torsos poses, ofter even go a bit more dynamic, and as long as they are just a couple,it's fine

The jump captain's cape just bugs me. I wanted to get a Primaris-size jump captain for my Blood Angels for a while, but cape + jetpack exhaust? He'll be a FIRE ANGEL! wooO!!!

The Assault Intercessors (especially the captain) lack all gothic flare and their poses seem really forced to be in the air. The rest looks decent enough though

ngl, I'm not blown away by the new jump packs. I also noticed the lack of straps or harnesses, and with the intakes perched on top instead of wrapping around the shoulders it just kind of looks...glued on, I suppose? The old packs looked integrated into the power armor in a way these new ones don't. They look FANTASTIC from behind, though - I might try to merge the old intakes with the new packs, and have them flying above their bases seraphim-style. It'll be a fun project! That sternguard back banner, tho. Def my favorite part of the reveal.

Why does it look like all of the new jump pack intercessors are just letting their legs go limp? Their knees aren’t lifted enough - they don’t look like they’ve any intention of landing on their feet - they’re all diving into the ball pit at Chuck E. Cheese

Probably because in their poses, they are in the middle of jumping off and not preparing to land. You know, jumping. That thing where you have to stretch your legs out to propell yourself into the air.

Combi weapons always had a -1 to hit penalty if you fired both barrels. The 10th edition profile assumes you're always firing both barrels, and gives you a BS of 4+ to reflect that.

old jump packs look good on Primaris. I made death company and assualt squads with jetpacks so I had only Primaris marines, but ran them as old marines in games of 9th. I'm hoping that they drop the difference between old marines and Primaris. Primaris should have just been sold as true scale marines.

Im really happy to see that almost everything they have put out for marines this edition are direct updates of firstborn kits. So you can use firstborn models to represent them in game.

I think my favorite thing was the MKIII Marines for 30k, will slot in perfectly with my 40k Iron Warriors theme or the Migraine Trogg for AoS.

if you look at the sternguards mini rules in the build book in the leviathan box set they originally had a different plan for the combi weapons with the weapon you choose as the extra gave you different special rules. the plas was anti monster 4+ and hazardous and i think the melta gave anti vehicle 4+ and melta 2. all versions of the guns also had dev wounds. would have at least added a little flavor

I really hope they announce a Votann Jump Pack Squad, and soon, and it'd be nice to have some kind of Mech comparable to a dreadnaught, and a fighter Jet type aircraft , a bomber, and an Air Transport possibly. I just want to see what these would look like. I'd also like to see what Votann Terrain looks like.

There's something amusing about GW's insistance on making their weak resin models into the most spindly/outlandish/breakable sculpts possible. "Hey guys, what's the absolute worst thing we could do in our very mediocre resin?" "How about a dude with a tiny, thin spear and really super frail wings tipped by tiny breakable claws? Make sure we hook his snake tail down too so it'll snag on everything it gets within 4" of to increase the likelihood of the owner fumbling with it and breaking it more easily."

The entire Primaris range needs more unique helmets. And shoulders, chestplates and legs. The Sternguard set is def a step in the right direction.

@LifeofSquidMann I will die on this hill but the new sternguard should have been resized older armor marks. Lore wise it could symbolize the integration of the primaris more with their chapters because now they are being trusted to use relics that are thousands of years old stretching through the chapters history. It would help to break up the monotony of a primaris army to see different armor marks in it that are not phobos or gravis or terminators.

@@solidsentinel1285 honestly the more I look at recent primaris sculpts the more I am disappointed. For instance the blade guard veterans should have had a different chest piece more in line with MK III to match the helmet. I think they are dropping the ball with primaris making them all look the same and doing only helmet swaps is not enough to fix the inadequate design choices.

I prefer the sculpts for the Primaris flying. They're sailing forward in the air very gracefully, like angels. Isn't that so beautiful

Been waiting for those new Jump packs, I recently got into the tabletop and I was very sad to hear, I couldn't use the original Death Company or the Assault Marines for my Blood Angels, but now I can and I can use those old jump packs on them too! Also excited for those Company heroes, they look incredible!

The jumppack Intercessors just look like normal assault Intercessors with a jumppack, I talking about their pose. They look like they are running, not like flying.

I dunno Jay, the jump pack captain could lose the cape. I say give him more gubbins, relics or baroque trimmings on the armour! Save the capes for the troopers slogging it on the ground :) Reminds me of my custom primaris jump troopers i made a couple years ago :') LOVE IT!

I'm using Sanguinary Guard as my Slaaneshi Raptors, focusing on Slaanesh in their aspect of "Perfection and beauty" rather than "Excess and torture" I would love it if Geedubs pushed that concept a tad more in 40K

Going through their datasheets on the warhammer app there are 33 characters for space marines, the votann have 12 datasheets across the whole army

I think the Chaplain would look a lot better with the shield and a slightly more raised Crozius. Plus the helmeted head sculpt - the 'naked' head looks a little... bored, I guess?

They only thing from the old range that hasn’t been done in primaris is a heavy weapon squad but that would mean getting rid of a few other kits that filled that void

Captain with jump pack will be converted into a chaplain to lead some primaris jump pack BA Death Company. I've already converted a primaris Dante and Tycho. I like the new Sternguard models. Fulgrim is resin so those wing tips will break just by looking at them. Sanquinius is coming back, it was only a flesh wound...
