Finally got paint on the bottom of the Mustang. A few swapmeet pics at the end of the video. Nothing super exciting though...

Nothing super exciting? That's crazy talk. Getting the bottom of the car all painted up is huge! Not many people care to go to that extreme. Looking good!

Very true. I have put far more work into prepping and painting than most people do. Which I see when I look at cars for sale, car shows or at swapmeets etc. When I look at those car show cars I see all the areas where they really skimped. Now my body work might not be (won't be) as perfect but at least I know I didn't leave an ugly floor or other skipped area.

Well since the camera was in time lapse mode it didn't capture the 4 letter words where I complain that the rotisserie moves way too easy and the car won't stay where I put it... Nice that it moves easily but it needs a drag brake.

I usually use 3m 08864 shutz but I to prefer bedliner over it. Around the same price either way. Also depends on if I can find my undercoating gun or not...

@@theinfernalcraftsman the 3m under coating we use is 08881 16 oz spray can and we get it from o,Reilly auto parts. And lots of brake lines lol . I have used classic tubes for fuel and brake line kits in the past .

Maybe try those motor guard tp filters for moisture.

I have a couple commercial style filters but they have all gotten to the point of leaking and bad pressure regulators and rebuilding them seems to cost as much or more than just buying new ones. The motor guard filters are good but they are better at filtering gunk than being a first line of defense against water. I should have bought one of the refrigerated dryers back when they were under $300 but they went nutz on the price so I will be going a different route.

@@theinfernalcraftsman I’ve had good experiences with the motor guard. You gotta use a fresh roll of TP. I’m in Idaho and our air is dry so that helps.

It's just one of the items I was hoping to find for when I start doing the body work on the car. I will keep looking here. Most of that stuff is advertised on facebook now and I don't do facebook so it takes me longer to get parts these days. I'm getting out of the "cheap" part of the build(sheet metal) and into the ever increasing cost part now so it's going to be piece meal here and there. I appreciate it and will keep it in mind though.

Great job! Can you share what brand of paint you settled on? I like the end results and sheen. Hopefully my engine bay will look as nice as yours !

I buy most of my supplies from these guys. They come out to the swapmeets here clarkswholesalepaints.com and are really friendly. Unfortunately he didn't have bedliner with him on this trip. The satin black came from him. There is also another option for acrylic enamel that you can use is implement paint. Often sold at tractor stores. The paint is good quality paint and IMO virtually the same as what I buy from the paint supplier however the price of the hardener at the tractor stores is super expensive. The tiny little cans are $14 and you will need several to use a gallon of paint vs $22 for one can from the paint supplier.

What did you do with the rest of the parts you took off? I always have trouble with work space when I pull apart a car.

It's everywhere One door is on a bench attached to the wall so it doesn't fall over. The other is where I usually have a ladder stored. The new fenders and valances are standing up in that area. The original fenders are hanging on one of the garage doors. And other parts in boxes and bags stuffed in every corner. Seats are inside and outside (covered). The seats are my nemesis as they do not store well. Engine and trans are gone as the engine was a 5 bolt bellhousing and not what I wanted. The rear axle is gone as well because it was from a 1970 maverick. It was a cheap way to get 5 bolt axles back then. I am gathering up parts to blast and paint/powdercoat as we speak.

@@theinfernalcraftsman thanks for responding. My parts for the 66 are everywhere too. I'm thinking about renting a storage unit. My seats are a constant material source for mouse nests, too. I'm a fan of your channel. Thanks for sharing!
