The main premise of this show is "get the girls to fall in love with him and kiss them to seal their powers before people try to kill them". It's honestly a really good show imo.

@@olgabutorina4156 My dude, their only reason to exist is to piggyback him the abilities (quite literally as mom intended), because he wasn't strong enough to handle them at birth, so it had to be done this roundabout way. Literally the reason he can "Seal" them, is because all the abilities are his to begin with, so they are basically just returning to him essentially

Fun fact: the girl with the clock eye and the guns is the best girl in the whole show and is honestly more popular than the show itself is. She got her own spinoff/side show called "date a bullet"

@@carlosyee4988 spoiler (and I’m a little distracted so I may butcher this a little bit) if you’ve seen S3, then you know how Origami became down bad for Shido. In the first timeline Shido saved Origami from the spirit, but was unable to save her parents. Origami said she’d leave all her feelings with Shido, but she would take revenge for her parents against the spirits. When they reunited in high school she remembered what Shido did for her and became down bad for him. Later, when she lost all hope and decided to become a spirit herself and to go back in time to deal with the spirit that killed her parents herself, she learned that it was she, who had just accidentally killed her parents, was the one that had killed then all along - which led to her inversion. In the new timeline he saved her parents (who would die naturally later anyway) and saved her from her inversion, which led to a different kind of down bad.

OPs 1 - 3 are sang by this group called sweet arms which are composed of a few VAs of certain characters in the show. (One of the members being the VA of the blue-haired hermit girl) OP 4 is sung by someone separate Miyu Tomita (who is also a VA but she doesn't play any roles in Date a live)

Sweet ARMS formed for another anime called Uppote! and has songs in most Date A Live media inc ED4 and does the OP for The Testament of Sister New Devil (very NSFW more so than High School DxD).

Miyu Tomita is however in Overlord II, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War?, Rising of the Shield Hero, KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!, Made in Abyss, and more. Date A Live isn't as cheeky as DxD, but they are both part of the harem anime subgenre. There are some voice actors who also are singers, one of the more famous ones IMHO being Megumi Hayashibara, who's been in the Anime industry since the 80s and is still active. She also trained as a nurse.

Date A Live is a fun show, at first it seems like just a cheeky and unoriginal fanservice comedy...but the story gets REALLY good as the show goes on. I think the tone of the OPs do a good job of giving you an idea of the tone of each season so you can see how it changes as it goes.

One of my personal favorite series. Season 1 came out in 2013, s2 in 2014, s3 in 2019, and s4 in 2022, A season 5 has been confirmed. There is a also a mini movie spinoff for the clock girl.

Date A Live may seem like a trashy Harem on the surface, but it is one of the best shows out there. Great characters, plot, action, development, depth, great show overall. Definitely one of my favorites

It's good for its genre, but it's not good compared to the rest of anime. The characters are sometimes interesting but always shallow, the plot is wack, the action is a bit better than average, and the development is mid at best. In no universe is Data A Live one of the best shows out there.

Yeah I know they didn't say it was THE best, but it shouldn't even be close to a contender. Maybe I didn't make it clear in my last comment, but the show is good for its genre, but when compared to other anime it is clearly below average and some would even say it's bad. I wouldn't go quite that far because I did enjoy watching it as a teenager, but the show is not good overall.@@ArpTakao696

This anime has the single most underrated soundtrack full stop IMO, its absolutely incredible in all 4 seasons, theres so many songs id want to reccomend but man youve gotta just watch the whole anime too youd love it

I strongly recommend listening and watching openings and endings of the anime K Project. The first opening is called "Kings", and it is performed by Angela. The first ending of Tsumetai Heya Hitori.

Date a live was one of the first harem animes i've watched and still one of the best i ve seen so far. It's not really like many other harems that don't really have a story or a good reason behind why the girls like the boy. Despite it's apearence as a "cheeky" anime, it is indeed quite tame as you've said and actually pretty wholesome sometimes

The non-spoiler description of the story is "Dating Simulator the Anime" but more, its one I absolutely love, and Kurumi Tokisaki (the black haired 'clock eye' girl) is still my favorite anime female. I cant say more than that about her without spoilers.

Not much of a spoiler when you can just point out the clichés. Absolute one loved is purple dress with sword. (First new girl introduced always wins) Agreed with Kurumi, got a PS Vita case with her on it.

sweet ARMS is a group consisting of 4 female voice actors who all are part of the DATE A LIVE. Two of them are part of the main cast while the other two are supporting characters. As for the 4th Season, sweet ARMS didn't sung for the Opening but instead sung for the Ending. Nomizu Iori sung most of the Ending songs and is also one of the female voice actors who is part of said sweet ARMS group. She voices the small blue haired bunny girl. For the last Opening it's Tomita Miyu who sung the song but isn't casted for a role in the Anime. She's eventually voiced Iino from Kaguya-sama for your information. Another for your information. So far all 4 seasons got a different Studio animating the Anime. xD

I also like the endings for this. While you're at it there is an anime called Chivalry of a Failed Knight, the only opening is good, and the ending is too. The ending has more revealing, fanservice shots, but no nudity like Highschool DxD, so it should be fine for KZfaq

Well, of course we'll keep bringing up stuff we haven't before, we can't just post a comprehensive list of everything we want you to watch, cause that would fill a book. xD Anyway, obligatory post about reacting to the following classics: -Ranma 1/2 -Inuyasha -Detective Conan and Digimon, since you saw it as a kid, and English dub viewers got shanked on the openings in that. So nostalgic when I watched this anime when I was highschool. Moreover, the second opening is very pleasant to hear. This is one of the best Harem anime for me after DxD and To Love Ru. I also recommend Listening to the opening To Love Ru because it is very good.

First of all Kurumi is best girl and second the series is very good with excellent music and fight scenes and no way near High School DXD. I know you love horror so check out the openings of Blood+ and Blood C.

And yes, the openings are performed by the voice actresses. Well, 3 of them at least. It's a 4 person group with 3 of the singers being part of the cast. Also singing really is just par for the course for Japanese voice actors. I think they train for it in voice acting school too.

You might get that it plays on the wording "Dead or Alive", but framed as a dating simulation. The girls are all technically the villains, as they are invading the human world to destroy it and our main character is tasked with dating these girls to give them a motive to not invade or destroy the planet. I like this anime, but I dunno if it's a good co-watch? It's very enjoyable to watch by oneself, but I think it's got a few too many cheeky moments and it references anime tropes that everybody is kind of sick of and tries to kind of lampshade them.

Easily one of the weirdest anime concepts to get so many seasons 😅 *"Make girls fall in love with you to prevent them from destroying the world"* kkkk 🤣 There are weirder base concepts out there, like the anime Conception or Punchline, but hardly any are this popular. And it's thanks to how surprisingly good it is. And probably also because Kurumi's figures (Kurumi is the clock-eyed yandere) must sell like water in Japan 😂😂😂

Date a Live is my favorite anime/light novel (even with all it's flaws) and I'm glad to see u reacting to the openings! If u consider reacting to the series, expect fanservice as it is a harem anime, but also expect a great story with characters u will fall in love with. The first 3 ops are sung by sweet ARMS and the people in the group are voice actors for some of the characters. While the the 4th op is sung by Miyu Tomita and they're all great!

It's one of the best harem-type animes. Show starts as a pure comedy with a lot of funny scenes, but gets more and more drama in a future, one of the plot twists in 4th season was so dramatic, obviously in top-10 I've ever seen(I watched ~300 animes). And one more thing about plot twists: there are a HUGE ones in every season, making completely a new view for a characters. Something on the same level as "wait, what? Reiner is armored titan? Oh, sure, we had some hints about it in the past"

I don't know what kind of anime you watch to put this show in your top 10, I know it's a good story, but the anime adaptation especially season 3 (not watch season 4 yet) is terrible. They skip so much material which lead to lack of depth for certain character. I remember how they adapted 1 vol novel into a single eps, what kind of sick people do that. I enjoy reading the novel but the anime is suck. That's why I still don't know if I'm going to watch the season 4 or not

@@theMichaelFFF I think the commas confused them. I don't know if you meant to put a comma after "future," but it should have been a period. An abundance of commas in a sentence can make it seem like you're listing things related to a specific subject instead of making a statement. With regard to the commas, your subject was the show itself. Since the sentence never ended, the "top 10" comment can be applied to the show instead of the plot twist. And that's why commas are taught in English classes almost every year in America.

I always describe this show as an anime spoofed on the dating sim games. Later seasons get into more plot oriented. The girls themselves are the villains until they fall for the main male character.

G.O.T games first introduction to date a live and more importantly best girl kurumi (The girl with the clocks and gun). Date a live I would say is light-hearted but gradually takes a really serious tone. Especially during season 4 it gets pretty dark. if there's one thing you must know about date a live is that everyone and me in the community loves kurumi tokisaki (The girl with the clocks and gun). Fun fact: Kurumi tokisaki was actually the first character to be designed for date a live.

To put it simply, this series is pretty much what you can call a love letter to dating sims and visual novels. The beginning of the series seems to be one of those typical harem series, but as you continue watching, you eventually find that there's a much deeper plot going on to the point you'll be able to pick up certain clues and hints that might make you scream "how tf did I not notice that??" when you rewatch the series from the beginning.

Honestly, everything past the first half of s4 and the upcomming seasons are deep asf and almost nothing like a harem anime. Like thar shii is deeper than most shounen and seinin anime. Like the plot, writing, character development, theme and everything is just so good

Except for the last op the ops were sung by sweet Arms. Over was the name for the last op. The singer of it was Miyu Tomita. But sweet Arms sung the last ed (SOS) of Date A Live which was also a great song.

the reason why this show looks to you like highschool DXD is because they are both what you call "harem anime", harem anime are very often comedies that centers on a single male protaganist that is surrounded by females who all want him for one reason or another. there could be action or drama mixed in as well but for the most part the point is the funny situations the protaganist find himeself in due to him being surrounded by women. there are also reverse harem anime with a single female surrounded by males. if you want a good recommandation go for the classic Ranma 1\2, this is the show that invented the genre and it is funny as hell and also has absolute banger of OP's so wink wink

Plot is basically(shown in ep. 1).. these girls that are called Spirits appear and the MC has to make them fall in love with him so he can seal their powers away(so they're no longer a threat to humanity). It's an enjoyable anime, can't wait for next season!

11:35 many japanese voice actors are music artists as well, voice actor of Erwin from AOT has really soft pleasent sounding voice for example, he performed opening for Kemono Jihen for example.

You can typically find most of the girls from either of these setups: magical fantasy schools, sci-fi (for the machine-type armors), almost every genre but as a girl that the protagonist should deal with. But the story is very original at the very least.

The first three openings were done by sweet ARMS which formed for the opening song of an anime about girls and guns, that's where the band name comes from. The last opening is performed by Miyu Tomita, OveR is actually the name of the song. Many people were upset because sweet ARMS weren't doing the last one, but I think this is the best opening so far, and both music and visuals indicate that the show is _not_ always light hearted.

Date A Live is rly good anime despite how weird the concept is. But the best thing for me is how most of arcs are mid but then You have arcs with Kurumi (other told enough which one it is) and those arcs are two or more times better than the ones without Her. This anime is one of those that have this one character that when She is not there, then it's not the same.

I’ve always thought the lyrics to I Swear were geared toward the Shido/Origami arc, especially at the end when Shido says “I’ll never stop fighting for you!!” I also love the scene at the end of the song where it shows all the girls as they descend and it ends with Tohka.

OP's 1-3 were done by Sweet ARMS, the 4th was done by Miyu Tomita who IS a voice actress though not in Date a Live. No idea why they switched out Sweet ARMS for the last season but I love all them, I think the 4th is my favourite with how the fast beat and the vocals just hit so hard on the chorus and it goes great with the video, but the way the girls from Sweet ARMS sing and harmonize with each other is just *chefs kiss*

This might be late but the words inside the [ --name--] is the song title, with the singer/band and composer/studio written below in Japanese. This is the usual format for many anime OPs and EDs with credits

Give Date A Live a chance! It's really a good anime. I'll admit, it starts off slow, and feels like it's nothing but fan service in the beginning. If you stick with it though, you will find a thrilling story that has you waiting anxiously for Date A Live V.

An unexpected surprise reaction. This is a very good anime IMO, definitely recommend. It's a romcom, but it's definitely a lot more deeper, if you continue watching it. 5th season is expected to come out next year. Also, if you still read comments here, I recommend you react to Rewrite openings, they are underrated, but I think, you'd enjoy them.

Bit of info that might surprise you,the girl in purple has the same va as Armin from AOT. Bit more info here,the girl with multiple of herself has the ability to make time displaced copies, the reason the guy with the sword got involved in the story is because he was given the job of sealing the girl's powers within himself in-case they lose control of themselves
