• Can you review my book?
I’m always happy to hear about upcoming books, but I’m afraid I don’t review self-published books and can only accept a small number of books for review. I enjoy reading classics, dystopian/apocalyptic novels, sci-fi, translated fiction and a variety of graphic novels, YA and contemporary literary fiction.
• Where is your accent from?
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, studied English Lit at Leiden University (also in the Netherlands), studied in the US for 3 months and have lots of American friends. I'm definitely not Irish or Canadian, I promise!
• Where do you live?
I live in London and have been here for 6 years now.
• How did you get into publishing?
I did publishing work experience, did a lot of networking and learned everything I know about social media from creating and running this channel. (P.s. You don't necessarily have to study Publishing or English to get a job in publishing!).

Loved this vlog! Definitely more like this pleeeeaaaase. Maybe a creepy November one? Christmas reads would very obviously work as well, but November with its fog and harsher side of autumn has its charms too. 🌫️🍃 How about vlog-reading the sequel to The Bear and the Nightingale, maybe in tandem again with another book, maybe another sequel?

Love a reading vlog! I was surprised reading Dracula the first time as well, it wasn't what I expected but I loved it (I read it for uni and wrote on motherhood and the new woman in it, which was fascinating to research!). I'm always nervous about prequel or extensions to stories where the orignial author isn't involved but this video has convinced me to pick up Dracul!

I'd had many fits and starts with this book over the years but have finally got down to read it through. I'm currently 2/3 or more into it and it's a well written story overall. For me the most disturbing thing is not the Count or his undead minions but the psychological aspect of Renfield's character. Throughout the book it was inferred and only hinted at what this poor deranged soul has been going through in his mind which opened up so many possibilities and room for imagining. When, however, it all transpired during Renfield's "accident" I couldn't help but feel the profound loneliness and torment of body and soul that the wretched little fellow must have endured, especially in that moment.

Ive read it and can see why it's a Classic, considering the time and era it was written in, Bram stoker was ahead of his time. For me The beginning of the Book and near end are the parts that I like the most, the middle is alot about the secondary characters Mina Lucy The Doctors etc, and thats when it became hard to read. But then it picked up again near the end. Overall it's a classic and deserves to be

I'm listening to the audiobook right now- the cast production one from Audible. I have to admit that I almost gave it up during the letter exchange between the two women. I found that part cringey- but, glad I kept at it because it's getting better.

Now that you've read Dracula, you should read The Dracula Tape by Fred Saberhagen. I read it at university for a "Monster Literature" class that I took. It's an at times hilarious retelling of the story from Dracula's point of view. Jonathan Harker comes in for a lot of criticism, as well as some of the flaws in the plot. In the class we read Dracula first and then followed that with the Saberhagen book.

To be true to myself, I started watching your VDO's from today for obvious reasons because I planned to start reading the books from today. I am in search of my first book to kick start and what better it could be if I win a giveaway. :-) I like the way you explain and talk about the books which makes me more excited about my decision about starting to read the books. Great Work! and a big thumbs up from my end!

I love Dracula, the atmosphere and the way of telling, but does nobody else find it annoying when they sometimes fall into long speeches about how great they all are? Like how perfect Mina Harker is, I think it takes away a lot of the relatableness (is that a word). Dracul seems like a good book think I'm going to pick it up. :)
