► About Me
Hoi! I'm Sanne. Ten years ago I moved from the Netherlands to London, where I'm currently working as a freelance social media producer in the publishing industry, event host and content creator. I've been making videos for 13 years and on my channel I talk about books, translation, the publishing industry, London, travel, plus career and creativity advice. If you're looking for your next book to read, need a confidence boost before starting your internship/new job or want to follow my journey trying to reach new creative and freelance goals, you're in the right place!

► Frequently asked questions
◦ Where is your accent from?
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, studied English Lit at Leiden University (also in the Netherlands), studied in the US for 3 months and have lots of American friends. Now that I live in London, I still mostly have my American accent, but with lots of British vocab mixed in.
◦ Where do you live?
I currently live in St Albans, just North of London.
◦ Where do you work?
I’m a Freelance Social Media Producer, public speaker and KZfaqr/blogger. Before that I was an Audience Manager at Penguin Random House UK.
◦ How did you get your job in the publishing industry?
I did publishing work experience on 3 different occasions, did a lot of networking and learned everything I know about social media from creating and running my KZfaq channel for 8 years. P.s. you don't necessarily have to study Publishing or English to get a job in publishing.

Halloween is my absolute favourite reading period of the year, and I managed to read a good bunch of books from my scary (in many ways) TBR. Hope you enjoy this little peek at my new town + my visit to the Netherlands!

this vlog was so cozy! im not usually into reading vlogs because they sometimes are a bit too meandering for me but i love it when they have a theme or set structure like this one, and the multitudes of locations were just an absolute delight 💖

Did the Shirley Jackson collection contain "After You, My Dear Alphonse"? It's just about my favourite story of hers, although it has no horror in it at all; instead, it's a wickedly funny commentary on unconscious racism in 1940s America. And I love it even more because when I read it, I already knew all about F.[rederick] Opper's "Alphonse and Gaston" comics from 1901 with the two absurdly over-polite Frenchmen, Alphonse à la Carte and his friend Gaston de Table d'hôte, so when Johnny and Boyd went into their "after _you,_ my dear Alphonse" routine, I ROFLd.

@@booksandquills Well, it got me to finally read authors such as Ann Radcliffe or Charlotte Riddell! It also introduced me to the yellow wallpaper, which I feel like is the blueprint for a lot of more contemporary horror novels
