Finally starting the interior build of our Land Rover Defender. We installed an ARB rear drawer. But before that we finished the suspension work by replacing the steering damper for OME steering stabilizer and track rod ball joints.
Thanks to our new partner, ARB Europe, for providing us with all those parts.

When you were struggling with the steering damper and the fit- the bracket or eyes collapse when tightened up. I keep few different side bolts and washers or all thread rod and nut. Put the bolt through the eye and thread on two nuts with washers and you can turn the nuts to open up the space again. Used this a lot with shock mounts that have been over tightened. Love all you video and work to the 110 so great to do your own work as you know it is done right and can fix it on the trail or know who to blame if it falls apart ;)

When I was in Namibia in 2015 on a hunt trip, I noticed my guides and outfitters all drove Toyota Landcruisers. I asked them "Where are all the Land Rovers?" My guide chuckled and said "In Africa if you go on safari, you go in a Land Rover. If you want to come back from safari, you go in a Land cruiser."

Hi, as a quick tip I’ve always found it simpler to replace the track rod ends with the wheels on the floor this way you can adjust the rod closer to the original length . It’s handy if your not near anywhere to get the tracking adjusted.

Yes, it's best yes to do it all 4s on the ground. We struggled to remove old steering damper and it had us remove the rod even though car was lifted, so he decided to replace the ends :)

As for draw bags/ tool roll. Try a company called Crashpad. They make clear to canvas bags that are modular and good for storing all types of stuff. They also do a tool roll that is awesome. I fit my whole socket set plus a full set of spanners in mine. I can’t recommend them highly enough. They are here is Australia and not sure if they would ship to Europe.

What do you do with your kids while you are building all the time? I am seeking for tipps :-D

They are teenagers so are quite independant. And if we need help, they participate. The build is done on weekends as we have a "normal" work/school family life aside from what we share here.

A bit of advice. It's not a good idea to use your torque wrench as a breaker bar, as you were loosening your lug nuts at the beginning of the video. It can affect the calibration, and it's not designed to be a breaker bar. You could damage it. Get a cheap breaker bar. Cheers!

Nice video as always. Is your black grease is a specific one for mecanics or the swiss grease we find in the care unit of some good "swiss tools" ? If it's this one I just never think to use it on a vehicule but it makes sens for that kind of hard use.

Everything works better when you apply WD-40 to it 😜👍 Oh… one more thing … does the English guy from „Boris the Defender“ … does he not have a drawing system similar to yours..?
@offtrackfamily

@@offtrackfamily You are correct … 👌 I did build my Landy 110 HT like his (Boris) except that I did NOT install a drawing system. So in fact a big double bed, in back, with storage space underneath and that’s it … nothing fancy . Fancy is expensive Fancy makes things complicated Fancy break’s easier

Cordialement, Emeline
