"how do you sustain a living without a job or pay check?", "what do you do now (after you quit)?", "how much should I save?" were common questions I was asked since uploading my "3 years later" video where I talked about my burnout experience and how I left the corporate world 3 years ago. In this video, I want to introduce to you the FIRE movement, the 4% rule (safe withdrawal rate), the history behind it and walk you through some examples on how it works. This is just a rule of thumb based on historical data as a way to look at one's personal finance. No one can predict the future, and historical gains are not a guarantee for future returns. So will this FIRE thing all work? Let's find out!
Be kind to yourself. ❤️

Well, the 4% rule will realistically only work if one's average annual expenses are around 2%....so if I need approx 40K per year, my portfolio needs to be atleast a 1.5 mil.....not possible for most so I think the real definition of FIRE today is to find a self-employment option that can sustain your day to day living... content creation for eg :)

There's a 2022 paper that updated Bengen paper's outdated assumptions and a more reasonable safe withdrawal rate seems to be 2.3-2.7%. Ben Felix did
