General Electric was once the mightiest enterprise in the world, worth hundreds of billions of dollars. When GE decided to break itself apart in 2021, many believed this symbolised the demise of the American conglomerate. But as the FT’s Mark Vandevelde reports, bringing hundreds of companies together under common ownership hasn’t died, it has a new name: private equity.

Not sure if this depiction is correct. Private equities will buy and sell assets within a 5 year window or so. A conglomerate, usually, would like to retain all its businesses and divest anything as an exception maybe. It’s too generalised and simplified by FT. Disappointing

PE don't have to sell. You're being definitive on something that is not.

@@musak.4068 Private equites generally raise money for 10 years. So they have to sell. It’s not like family office. Not sure if your understanding of how private equities work. I run a mergers and acquisitions advisory business. Haven’t come across a commercial PE with unlimited holding timeline. Have you?

@@senrohit1 Your reply is to move goal posts & ironically counter your previous statement? 1. Never said anything about unlimited holding 2. " Private equities will buy and sell assets within a 5 year window" Your remark. Which is prefaced by you questioning the accuracy of the information. 3. " Private equites generally raise money for 10 years." You countering yourself. 4. "PE don't have to sell." My reply to you. Which is further put into context by the next line. "You're being definitive on something that is not." Meaning in full context. A 5yr window is not definitively the "sell mark" for PE. They can, and do, hold for more than 5yrs. Often at that. How long? However long they decide to... common sense applies here.

@@musak.4068 PEs don’t have to sell. That statement is completely inaccurate. They have to. Generally the prefer a 25% IRR and a cash on cash of 3x. And the usual holding period is 5 years. I have no idea what you are blabbering about. Lot of words - no meaning.

The beginning of the video is already wrong. GE was initially Westinghouse electrical company which then acquired Edison electric. Everyone should know that. Viewers shouldn’t have to deal with facts that way.

The war between Russia and Ukraine has made me realise now that stocks, bonds, and shares are still the most lucrative businesses in the world today, NFT, real estate and cryptocurrency stocks are really changing people's lives for the better after duly guidance in the risk margin rounded by the financial markets.

No matter how the fight lingers the market will still be moving, its fluctuations will continue going high and low and always know that the financial market is for the wise and not for fun, it only involves a patient, determined and focused waiter to conquer victoriously, is something you should make out funds and passion for.
