The British will keep up a straight face until the face doesn’t slide down revealing the skull. Then they will try it with the skull. The poverty levels in some of the counties are astounding. And no one seems to be ashamed. Incredible nation.

Really dont understand brexit in general, ln all honesty, UK has no comparative advantage in any industries, the only reason why business and tech moved to Uk was to gain strong foot hold into the entire eu market.....and they somehow thought this was going to work out.....its not 1900's any more lol

More navel gazing and rather lacking in ideas. The future is to wind back the clock to yesterdays mediocrity as we prefer not to notice the economy was not fundamentally sound a long time ago.

Individual US states cannot enter into trade agreements with other countries. I'd expect that the Financial Times wouldn't spread misinformation like this.

While US spends trillions of dollar to invade Iraq and other countries, destroy their infrastructure, to extend its global influence, China is spending trillions to build infrastructure around the world to extend its global influence.

I never understood the logic of getting trades deals with NZ and Aus as a benefit when 'everyone' is so focused on going green. Also not exactly the best trading partners for just in time production. Either way nothing to write home about. An analysis of the massive need for net migration of non eu citizens post brexit would be interesting, effectively replacing Poles for a lot of Indians.

As a Dutch person this makes me sad. UK I see as a brother and partner. Shame it all went down like this. And it's in my opinion because EU leaders tried to make the EU to big and to powerfull. Reducing the sovereignty which makes countries want to leave. As what happend to the UK. Now UK is really in a bad position while UK should be brothers to countries like the Netherlands and France. Shame shame shame.

Cecilia Malstron previous head of trade for EU, has said the EU market is declining, and trade between EU members is declining and that they should look to secure and join the CPTPP. Yes folks, this is exactly what was said and we all known Asia is going to be the fastest growing for the next 100 years. The EU if it every decides to do so must decide soon because PwC state its SM market is eroding year on year and heading to 9% of global share down from 16% before the UK left the UK held 3-4% market size). CPTPP will soon overtake the EU SM. However the EU HAS A BIG PROBLEM The UK has a veto on the CPTPP board and BLOCK all EU 27 members from accessing the Lucrative Asia Market via CPTPP. This might end up costing the EU and it's members a lot after the way the UK was disgracefully treated for simply wanting to take back control and forging a sensible deal. The EU DID NOT WANT SENSIBLE IF EVERYONE REMEMBERS. Fine, but they have stored up a huge PROBLEM coming. The UK will block the EU and this will drive down living standards for central Europeans. Remember and own what your masters in the EU did because spite has consequences later down the line. There is another scenario playing out. If trump becomes president, and farge becomes UK ambassador this will have consequences for the EU and Rep of Ireland too. All will be interesting to watch.

The FT are not addressing the fact the UK economy is re-aligning, and in fact expanding in other areas. The UK just became the WORLD 4th LARGEST EXPORTER. CPTPP is not yet on tap but will come on soon, and numerous other deals are i the mix. The US will get sorted once Biden is out of office. The FT has a cabal of people who never liked Brexit, Bloomberg too, but repeatedly they are being proven wrong 1. The FT failed to address the German economic question and why the UK is growing more and expanding 2. The FT isn't addressing the fact that nearly 50% of all tech and tech start ups are in the UK and it has numerous more unicorns than most of Europe 3. Record export in digital breaking records in 2021 4. Why the UK has just become the 4th largest exporter in the world, and Germany has asked for a new trade discussion Why are these not being address? Why is the FT not addressing the fact Christine Laggard is seeking multiple trillions to fill as massive big hole in EU finances Why they have another 900 billion problem which members do not want to address but were happy to take covid money at the time Why the UK topped the G7 growth league in Europe Why the UK has bypassed France on manufacturing scale CPTPP is coming on tap and is a market 150m more than the EU The UK will become the European bridge into Asia and strengthening its appear What is happening is that 1. The FT and Bloomberg isn't being honest with it's readership 2. Can't admit they were wrong 3. Remain voters can't admit they were wrong 4. All while the UK has STILL NOT TAKE SERIOUS ADVANTAGE OF BREXIT - IMAGE IF IT DID Rafael I think comes from a country who was receiving big funds from the UK and naturally he is complaining because he and his country men no longer get free credit card money. Before anyone OPENS THEIR GOP ON BREXIT, suggest you look at the progress (yes it's slow) but it's happening, and the UK is moving up. UK just bypassed JAPAN (which is a huge economy) on export size. The UK has a lot of things coming from advanced defense, to tech, green energy, finance, life science and health and artificial intelligence. The UK is ranked joint 2nd globally on AI and in some area No1 globally. Where do you think DeepMind is based that did many of the major break throughts. Where is the EU not very far. In the meantime, a number of EU deals have collapse, and in Latin America, the UK is picking them up, and making deals with Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Argentine, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay. I've been following the trade delegations and what is clear is that remainers do not have a clue what is going on. All the original trade deals have been rolled over, and they are in the process of being up-rated if not already. The EU does not up-rate trade deals technically. So the UK is grabbing a lot of new business. Remain voters have not figured it out yet.

This video is very funny. U.K people always voting in Conservatives to destroy their economy and then voting in Labour to clean up the mess. Conservatives should remain in power and clean up the mess they made. Like seriously, why is the Labour party now responsible for cleaning up the mess made by the so-called party of "Individual Responsibility"?

Tbh, the Govt did not sell off the railways. They're operated on an Open Tender Contract, the highest bidding company operates the selected contract it wins, eg, GWR, Southern Rail, etc. That winning bid company charges the highest allowable fares set by Govt, to fare paying passengers, while, the Govt Dept of Transport pays each company to operate their rail section each day, so, 2 income streams. There is a public facie they must operate under profit. If you remove Govt income stream or fares income stream, every "privatised" company will fail. The same is true of Utilities and Water.
