Financing my unfunded PhD | Part-time jobs, stocks and loans

Hey wonderful humans!
Today I'm talking about money, in particular how I fund my PhD at the University of Birmingham without funding. I find talking about money a bit awkward but hopefully this will be useful and show people you can do a full-time PhD without funding!

My name's Lucy and I'm a humanities student focusing on queer romance novels of 21st century, so obviously this won't be the same as science people. Also everything I say is my own opinion! Super helpful video. I have a stipend, but it doesn't even cover my living expenses - and that's saying something since I live in social housing. It's nice to know I'm not alone having to juggle paid work with PhD stuff.

Hey I really enjoyed your video, I think you are doing an incredible job and besides its ups and downs of unreliability of not having funding this somehow provides you with additional skills which you will definitely need once you are done with your PhD! So keep it up!
