I saved this one for Episode #300! This episode almost didn't happed. Ron, Steve, Mark, Bill, and I took a trip to see Bert. Berts area is full of Colonial and Civil War. We found both! I started off day one taking some video then I decided to have a mental heath day which means- Just enjoy the hobby and don't worry about making a video. Bill disturbed that the first evening when he popped and early silver coin. The next day we went to a few different sites before we landed at the same site where Bill dug the silver coin the night before. It was a Union Civil War camp. I got a very faint deep signal I thought was going to be an extremely deep civil war bullet. It ended up being a FIND OF A LIFETIME!!

That’s my favorite part of this hobby. To sit and think about how these things ended up in the dirt. Was it a hole in the pocket? A battle?, an unexpected native attack? Some gambling on their down time? I wish I could touch the objects and see what it’s been through. History is awesome. Amazing find!!

First off, Bert is an incredible man among men. "Giving until it hurts" isn't even in his vocabulary, it hurts him not to give. I think he's happier when someone else makes a big find than he would have been if he had found it himself at this point. Congratulations Kurt, another amazing piece of history saved!

Congrats on the gold, you right about the civil war connection. Years ago I found a half dime on the side of a hill in Leesburg VA alongside a large flat rock where we were finding dropped 3 ring bullets. After the thrill of the find I realized a civil war soldier took a rest at this spot and drop the half dime, who knows what happened to him. Again great find Kurt.

Wow, Kurt!! A gold coin. Thank you for sharing that moment with us. I had no glue that they made $1.00 gold coins that small. I was thinking about the couple in California who found a couple of cans full of gold coins while out walking their property. They looked to be the size of a 50 cent piece.
