Beautiful truck same color as my Ram Dually. Mine is a 2011 I bought in September of 2012 to haul travel trailers for a living. It now has over 1 million miles on it.

The major advantage Dodge has is the superior exhaust brake, as compared to Ford and Chevy. Control coming down a grade is of utmost importance vwhen towing, plus it prolongs brake life. A little bit slower up the hill is fine by me if I have the best exhaust brake controlling the load descending the grade.

I absolutely love my 2019 3500 dually. Bought it new, in April 2019 and couldn't be happier!

The 19.5 wheel and tire package offers several advantages. Much longer tire life, more durable tires, higher load capacity and lower rolling resistance. The Ford F450 has a nearly 9 foot shorter turning radius than the Ram. That sure makes it easier to live with a dually as a daily driver. I own a 2020 F450. I love it, but kudos to Ram, they are really nice rigs.

Rocket is fast too, but only last one trip. If you look at things in life, slow things have longer life and fast things short life. For example cheetahs are fast but life expectancy is 12 years max, turtle is slow but expectancy is 80 years max.

I agree on the Diesel Exhaust Break, I haven't driven a Ford or GM Diesel so I'm kind of biased. My 15 Ram 3500 SRW short bed has had no issues with anything I have hooked up to it thus far. But, open car trailer with 67 C-10, 2021 Cherokee Grey Wolf 23DBH and echo trailer with 2019 Polaris RZR XP4 1000 are my only tests. DEB has been amazing and I get better fuel economy then the 5.3L 2003 GMC Yukon XL with and without a trailer attached. When we go to a heavy 5th wheel and need a dually it will probably be the Ram, because my wife likes the styling and I like the tech.

14:18 it’s not the 4:30 that made the f450 faster it’s got 75 more hp and 50 ft lbs more torque. The Cummins is all torque and grunt it was actually at the perfect rpm in your tests.

I wish I could find that exact truck with the air suspension in the rear...I really like that Ram went back to the CP3 over the crappy CP4.2.

You always need to go up two truck sizes on a ford or gm to compete with a ram.also with a ford you need to calculate for two payments monthly one to the bank and the other to the repair shop.

Great video. I have a 2021 Ram 3500 HD Tradesman that I tow a 35 foot fifth wheel. I live in Alaska and climbed Thompson Pass going into Valdez, and that truck never slowed down. Engine temp got up to 210 and tranny temp never got above 167. Thompson Pass has a max gradient of 7.2% climbing to 2660 feet above sea level. Going down, my exhaust brake (in auto mode on all hywys) never allowed me to get over 55 mph. This truck is a beast, and is a very stable platform.

First time I'm going to make a comment! I've owned both Dodges and Ford's all the way up to F650! The most dependable trucks with overall best fuel mileage has been all my CUMMINS ENGINES, yes even in my NISSIAN Titan Pro4X heavy half ton which I've pulled a bumper pull trailer 7×7×16 LOADED with furniture over many high mountain passes alomg with my new 39,2 foot toy hauler with a 12 ft garage with a goldwing and tent camper trailer in garage through same places! But I did miss the overall stability of the dually in high wind conditions! So I just got my new 2021 Dodge Ram Larime with 4:10 rear end with self leveling air bags, 4×4 ALSO! All I can say is what a beast of a truck! Yes really did consider going with a FORD just because of the 10 automatic! But truly EVERYONE only looks the trucks and NEVER looks at tire ratings and speed rates in their trailers! Please correct if you can!! 99.9% of all trailer tires MADE are speed rates MOSTLY ONLY up to 65mph! Yes any truck set up for pulling can do much faster! And most importantly pull real hill grades! As a professional truck in my work Life, fast is great but TIRES ON MOAT TRAILERS ARE NOT RATED FOR MORE THAN 65MPH! ALONG WITH Different types bais verse radial tires, PEOPLE REALLY NEED TO UNDERSTAND THIS, THAT'S WHY THEY HAVE SO MANY BLOW OUTS AND ACCIDENTS ALONG WITH NEVER CHECKING THEIR TIRE PRESSURES! HELL I EVEN HAD A HARD TIME FINDING TRAILER TIRES RATED FOR 70MPH FOR MY MOTORCYCLE CAMPER TRAILER!!

I have this same truck but in black and a 2021. I tow a 42 ft 5th wheel with a hitch weight of 3200 pounds full of all our junk. The truck only squats 3 some inches. It's a great truck. Only time you know your towing is taking off and slowing down with the exhaust brake being louder than when empty. If I stay at 65 to 67 I get 10.5 to 11 all day if there is no wind and big climbs. Those dually really shine when it's windy out that's where I really noticed the biggest difference. I wanted a 450 but the exhaust brake on the ram really shines. Great video

It's hard to beat a Ram 🐏 I've had them all over my 61 years and Ram has been the best for me . I'm driving a 2020 1500 off road package Ram now but next year I'll trade it for a 2500 as I up grade my 25 foot camper to a fifth wheel . I'm full time RV the last 2 years. Retired and loven it lol .

Love the exhaust brake! I do not have a 6.7 cummins nor have I ever driven one. I’ve had the old 5L isx in my 16 kenworth and I have the X15 in my shaker love the engine brake,I haul doubles cross country out of Arizona and we average over 8.0mpg a week and we run between 7,000-8,000 miles a week. We have had emissions problems with our cummins though we’ve sat a few times lol

inline 6 power, its such a great motor design.

A few bits of feedback from a 2 ram 3500 owner with over 500k miles combined on them. Under no circumstances by one with a 68RFE if you are constantly towing moderate to heavy loads, unless you’re into transmission repairs every 60-100k mi. And secondly treat that after treatment system like a newborn baby with a handicap. Love the trucks but never again!

I think all these manufactures have come a long way over the past 10 years. I just brought home a 22 F450 and Im not brand loyal at all but having worked at a Ford dealer for years and being friends with them it has it's perks plus I just like the looks of Ford, Im not a fan of the soft curves of the RAM. I haven't towed with the F450 yet but I was towing our 44ft 5h wheel with a 19 F350 SRW CC which did ok but we were on the hairy edge with payload etc. and we've added about 1500lbs to our rv so Im sure we were over weight by a bunch. The trailer kind of pushed the F350 around going down hills and coming to a stop and doubt it will with this F450. I know the 450 was built to tow with but wish it came with 410's and not the 430's because I doubt you'd notice much if any difference towing but the fuel mileage would be noticeable and wish there were more options for 19.5 tires, those are my only concerns and wishes. I like your towing comparison videos but wish they were all with a 5th wheel just for my selfish reasons lol. Just subbed, keep the videos coming!!

Follow I'll ALWAYS stay with the CUMMINS ENGINES! AND DEAL WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES IF I HAVE ANY! AND YES I HAVE HAD THEM IN MY 1996 3/4 TON, really wasn't transmission it was lock up torque converter! I just went aftermarket and had one BUILT cheaper and better than Dodges

Very helpful video as always. This is pretty much the truck I’m looking at and maybe in this color or the Hydro blue. It’s definitely going to be four-wheel-drive and probably the basic Cummins and I haven’t decided whether I’m going to be doing a 1 ton single or dual rear wheel. When looking for a new HD truck, I drove the the Ford, GMC, Chevy and RAM. Ultimatley, my RAM had the better ride for me. Probably do to the coil springs which can be a determent if towing a lot.

Diesels pull great, no doubt. Just have deeeep pockets for repairs!! DPF, EGR, EGR COOLER, INJECTORS, HIGH PRESSURE FURL PUMPS.

I suspect you needed slightly more gain on the trailer break because of how much that big boy weighs. It is nearly 9,000 unloaded.

Interesting enough. I did some work for a customer this week who tried to pull their 26,000# horse trailer with a 2019 dodge 4500 and it was a dog going up the steep SoCal mountain grades, struggling to maintain 40 mph on many of them. They bought a Ford 450 upon returning and now have no problem hitting 70 up those same grades...the wife said she never cried over purchasing a new vehicle as they paid $93,000 for the F450. I was surprised to hear such a difference between the dodge & Ford. They still have the dodge for everyday ranch work though.

I talked to a dealer yesterday and they confirmed Allison trans are coming to the rams by end of year

JB, thanks for another awesome video. I’m fixing to buy a 37’ boat that weighs about 19,000 lbs (including fuel) and would have to tow it through the Smoky Mountains. Would you recommend the Ram 3500 Dually and what upgrades would make sense?

Also, F450 has a problematic cp4 pump that is known to fail and cost to repair is $10k.

I have owned a few duallys. Then I got single wheel. Man I miss them dual rear wheels. I’ll always have a dually here on out. Won’t tow my fifth wheel with anything else.

I just bought the Bighorn 3500, 2020 regular cab dually Cummins HO 6spd AISIN I cannot feel any sway when hauling my 3 horse slant trailer, it is like night and day having a dually I did notice the factory front tires do wear.. but to be expected. awesome truck..

I'd put my 2013 F450 4wd crew cab True [ cab/chassis ] With a 12ft flat bed to haul my toys so yes it is a derated 6.7 diesel but pedal monster and 4:88 gears I can put 6500lbd on bed and pull 40,000 lbs at 65mph up 7% hill grade,only did it 1 time tho won't do it again truck only goes 80mph because of my gvrw

All you need to know is one is a Ram and the other is Fix Or Repair Daily.

The 4.33 in the cab chassis pulls all day long no issues! And the air brake easily stops my 5k trailer.

Tires are 120 load rating. More useful on a tiny Toyota truck imitation. Go for 126 or better. GM and Ford do not have the exhaust brake. You get on a long steep grade and you will not have to worry with the Ram. With the other two you will not have to guess about the trailer brakes. They will be shot.

My husband and I are looking to buy a new 5th wheel (luxe toy hauler) I put in my order for a new 2022 Ram 3500 with all the upgrades that are available to enhance our payload and towing capacity. I need to know what those numbers will be estimated from the 2021. 2022 Ram 3500 Mega cab Limited dually with 6.7 Cummins HO turbo diesel, dual alternators rated at 440, 4.10 axle ratio dual rear heels with max tow package. I'm getting flack from the guys on the 5th wheel site saying my new Ram isn't enough to pull GVWR of 25,999 and hitch weight of 4,700 BTW I have non idea when I'll get the new truck

Ford is better in towing and every day driving. Most buy ram because they can get it for $10000 less than a Ford. I’ve owned both. Ford transmission and engine work like a charm. Everyone go drive both before buying. Ram interior is great but buying a truck for cosmetics won’t get you past a Ford towing or racing.

Good video and that is an awesome truck. I’ve been telling you now for awhile that you need a dually. It’s almost like pulling those big trailers is what they are made for 😂. But seriously what I tell people that ask me about my opinion is single wheel trucks, regardless of if they are 1/2, 3/4 or 1 ton are still just pickups. There’s no doubt the heavier trucks perform better than lighter trucks but at the end of the day you can stress them out and have issues towing. With a dually you about have to just do something stupid to have any kind of problem towing. I all but think a dually is especially necessary if you are towing a fifth wheel or a gooseneck. The single wheels will do it but a dually is like a night and day difference. Also, the 450 carried more speed up the grade because it has 75 more hp. I don’t think the gearing has much to do with that.
